    Love the birds singing in the background providing natural build in sound effects. Right after you did you filing and brushed away the bits of resin, one was shaped just like a seahorse! Lovely, thanks for sharing. 8-)

    I am new to resin and watching your videos I get so excited. Makes me want to quit my full-time job and just make jewelry :-) I look forward to watching all your videos and really appreciate you giving details about the products you uses. For newbies like me we need that information so we can get the right products and not have to spend a fortune on trial and error. Thank you soooo much ♥

    When I started making my beads I had handy some bamboo skewers that I had cut in half and then shaved the pointy end to make a kind of spoon shaped end and that was very helpful in getting the mixture into the mold.

    Alison, these are just fabulous!!! I love that the mold you found makes two different styles of Pandora-style beads. I was told that you could only use inclusions in casting resin because UV resin wouldn’t cure if anything interfered with the UV light’s path through the resin, so I’m amazed that you were able to get these to cure successfully even with opaque Lumiere acrylic paints (albeit a very small amount), mica powders and glitters mixed into the resin. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities! Thanks so much for another terrific tutorial, my friend. ❤️

    • @ThinkingOutsideTheBox
      @ThinkingOutsideTheBox  5 років тому +1

      Thank you Margaret. It will work with the paints used in very small amounts. The alcohol inks are transparent but you still want to add only a couple drops because you don’t want to “water down” so to say the uv resin or regular 2 part resin. Glitter and other very small particles work perfectly as the uv light can get around them. I’m glad you enjoyed the tute! 💜💜

    Another thing you can try is a Bobby pin. You can open it up or use it closed. The end tips have a protective rubber coating that shouldn't scratch or poke your mold. You should still be gentle, of course but it works very well as an alternative to a toothpick.

Just trying to learn everything all the ins and outs of making all kinds of jewelry with all kinds of supplies by the time my hubby stops working and our income drops to half on SS with no retirement. It's sad, I just turned 62 may 1 and been on disability since 1999. So mine isn't much with having a childcare business for 11 years. So I hope and pray I can do it and maybe get him away from his computer games and TV to help. He might find it fun. That's what I am praying for and also how to get it going when I get started. Have a great night and thank you for replying. K

    Please use Nitrile ( chemical resistant) gloves and a respirator while working with resin. I have seen tons of allergic reaction pictures on the resin groups I'm in on facebook. Eyes, lips swelling, Nasty rashes and people even needing to go to the ER. Resin can be used to create amazing things but it's not to be taken lightly. The proper protective wear is a MUST.
    Your beads are absolutely gorgeous btw.

    Allison, You are the only maker that I have seen tackle resin beads. Because of that, I have a question for you! With the pandora style, this isn’t an issue, however, when making resin beads that you don’t cap, what do you do about the shrinkage around the top hole? I’ve tried to fill it in, and I’ve tried sanding, and it just doesn’t look good. Do you have any tips? Thanks for the tutorial, I really appreciate you!

      I was just worried since these beads are 4mm and and they say 4mm won't fit the pandora bracelets and that they need a 4.5 or 5mm bead.

      Kristina Fowler my daughter has a real pandora bracelet. Let me double check to see if they fit on hers and I will get back to you soon.

    what size eyelets do are you using?

    • @2degucitas
      @2degucitas 3 роки тому

      That's a good question. There are two kinds of eyelets used: real silver "bead cores" (cheaper stainless steel are available) that are all the same size made to accommodate the Pandora style chain;
      And: ordinary eyelets, used for sewing, crafting, leather , etc.
      The silver ones I found online. I bet you can find them at hobby stores ( Michaels, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby).
      The ordinary ones can be found almost everywhere. Sorry I don't know the size of eyelet Pandora beads use.

    Working with acrylic you should always gloves. You can develop a allergy to it. Can you imagine how bad that would be.
