I completely agree with that concept--don't wait too long to take action and potentially miss out on future gains!

I wish you an awesome 2024. You are doing great, over the long term having assets you can easily manage is very helpful. Unfortunately I think we are looking at a reverse market crash developing, but those that invest will in a better position. I am personally working to pay off my mortgage and I have a few stocks. I am mostly invested in SPY which is an index fund of the SP500 but I also like playing with REITS because it is like collecting rent without ever having to manage properties.

For my future financial pursuits, I'm seriously contemplating investing in REITs (mainly in the form of ETF or Index funds). Like you, I have mostly concentrated on being a serious saver and gotten rid of the mortgage on a home that we resided for a good portion of life. So at this point, investing beyond CDs, I-bonds, and HYSA has become an interest and consideration. And as you previously suggested, I plan to thoroughly do my due diligence before proceeding with this venture.

Good luck on the new venture! Investing, and not just saving, was one of the best choices I ever made!

My goal in 2024 is to be credit card debt free. I should achieve that at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2024...Freedom!!

Big move going 100% debt free!
Good luck on achieving that goal in 2024!
I have enough cash/equities set aside to pay off the mortgage on my primary home at any time, but keeping the debt in place for now due to the ability to deduct the mortgage interest. That big expenses also opens up other expenses as itemized deductions for further tax advantages. I’d also like to see what happens with tax rates when the TCJA expires in 2025. Itemized deductions may become even more valuable if the standard deduction gets cut in half or the NII tax rate increases. Would suck to pay refinance costs to re-enable those deductions.

I love ‘personal’ finance. It’s never just strictly about the numbers.

@@WealthyTiffany absolutely. Using the numbers to accomplish personal goals. Easy to lose sight of that and keep reaching for “more” if we aren’t careful!
