I would love to see a rear troop cover to make it look more APCish. With maybe a troop hatch on the top. But yeah I will be picking up another stinger for this mod.
For once, I'm glad I don't have more display space, because otherwise I'd be dropping some money on that! Gridiron's ingenuity amazes me. That set looks awesome!
This is dope, I’d love to put it on one of my stingers but grid iron is just a little out of what I’d like to spend for accessories and I just got hit with so much. Sick tho 🤘
Definitely not one of GS finest projects. The difference in the black is definitely noticeable, but maybe taken a hair dryer and running it by the GROPO could get the sheens to match. Great review as always thanks for your hard work.
I considering buying but I didn't want to buy 4 tires for the Stinger as well. I have some Gridiron stuff already but just cant justify the price with a whole other set of wheels that I don't care for. Happy for those who are happy with it though.
You're going to hate me for saying this. But while often an asshole, Bobby Vala is often correct. One of those times is with regards to Gridiron and 3d printing. It's not that 3d printing is bad. It's great and Gridiron seems to have some really good systems. But for stuff like this you eventually hit a problem of scaling production past a certain point. 3d Printing scales up to about what we used to call a Hobbyist or Garage Kit Business. Much like Resin Cast models. It can be a really good niche business. But you run into a problem of scaling should you succeed past the production capacity of your printers. I think this wonderfuly awesome APC conversion kit is the thing that will put the most stress on Gridiron's production and fulfillment capacity to date. The roughness on the outrigger jacks is because they were printed on FDM printers. Not whatever it is Gridiron is using for the more finely detailed quality stuff. So they are having to offload some of their production process on these kits onto the faster cheaper lower quality filament FDM printers. Because they are probably reaching a production bottleneck. This is the benefit to IM (injection Molding) production. Setup is much much more expensive due to tooling costs. But it is scalable to the extent that you cannot do with 3d printing or all but the crudest resin casting.
Why would I hate you for that, plastic mold injection is better than 3D prints in many ways, and in this case I tend to agree. Normally the quality with Gridiron is top notch but this has some issues for sure when you look closely
@@Apunkwithtoys Yeah, I have dabbled quite a bit in 3d printing. I suspect that the overall size and complexity of this one might be putting some strain on Gridiron's methods. I don't know what printers they are using for the really fine detailed stuff. But the production time per piece of the stinger/vamp extensions has got to be high. And I can't see the margins on it being that great compared to their smaller guns and stuff. The guns are around $20/piece and they can probably get 1 or 2 dozen on the plate per print cycle at a fairly fast build speed. I mean a slow hobbyist printer could probably bang them out in anout 4 hours. Whatever they have has to be way faster. But that big truck? Depending on how big their printers are 1, 2 or at most 4 per printer run and at a minimum a full day print job. And that's assuming fast commercial printers. It would take a home printer most of a week to make that. I've always assumed that most of their guns and stuff are a really high quality resin print. But you can see in some pieces on the truck that they were using FDM printers. The ones you can see the really clear layer lines and the underside roughness from the supports. Those outriggers were definately FDM as were the back ramp and the gun mount for the howitzer.
That's pretty cool and I like the details like the rivets but it can definitely use some decals or something because that's an awful lot of matte black
90 dollars and you have to buy those wheels if you haven't already. Nope. With all that plastic they used for this. They could build us some cobra bunkers.
I’ve mentioned it before and it seems people continue to have to wait to get product. With all that said, I do understand but how many other companies in this hobby do you pay upfront and have to wait too? Just tossing that out there but the slow delivery has been a point I have made.
Ugh , that’s disappointing about the support beams . I ran downstairs to look at mine and they’re the same way . But like you said it’s underneath so you’ll never see it I guess . But definitely unlike Gridiron for sure ✌🏽
I think those flakes in the rims and surface was from all those foam peanuts. Its a shame the figs really dont fit that well in the back and on the seats, and the support mess sometimes cant be helped, some of the prints ive sold have them but i dont think they were as bad as those and im not a pro like them so its a shame, but i too try and hide mine in places that are not as obvious. Like on the hydro sled they are in the rear under the jet piece tha pops in and hides them except on the 1 i gave you that i used a heat gun and kind of warped but supports are still hidden...lol
Ground Pounders usually means 'they walk' a lot rather than Artiillary or Mechanised Infantry in my experience of the term at least... but as they are "technically" a 3rd party I guess nonsense names is "tradition" for that market sector.
For what Gridiron charges, and the lead times......print defects are not acceptable.

Ughh. Gridiron finally got me. I need this for the Stinger. The squad still can't roll as deep as my Vanguard crew but I can't wait.😂

Thanks for doing these reviews. Was just looking at these this morning to update a second Stinger.
You’re welcome and thank you for watching
Ugggghhhh this is sooo tempting…. You are doing NO favours with this review. My credit card has heard of Grid Iron….it’s terrified!
I was waiting for you to do a review on this!! Too cool!
Haha well you got lucky, I think.
@@Apunkwithtoys There are others who did this review, but I waited for yours.
@@walterwright8454 thank you.
@walterwright8454 question, I haven’t watched anyone else, if you have did anyone else show that it can be used for the Vamp too?
@@Apunkwithtoys I didn't watch anyone else's video.

Kinda shocked at the support scaring on that print. It’s FDM but still doesn’t need to be that bad.
Yeah like I’ve commented to many here, we’re not used to this type of quality from them.

I was wondering, but it worked out well. Good contents.🤗🤗
It looks like Hanomag.
90 bucks just for that back piece is trash, I would just buy another stinger.

They should make a pack that has it all together
I'm waiting for the actual GI JOE APC to be released. I need a container for all the figures, lol.

The "ground royal with cheese" in Amsterdam.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I have some I will probably throw on it when I get it back from Punk.
@@Vexxed_ maybe even have a section for the spare tire to go on the side just to break up that empty space

Good review!
Great review.💯🔥🔥🔥
The APC looks cool, but I think I'm done with Gridiron Studios. I'm still waiting for them to ship a small part I ordered a few weeks ago.

Good review. I like it.Some QC issues need to be addressed. Otherwise, it's beautiful .
It really doesn’t seem like the same quality as many of us have come to know
How does it look with the original wheels? Do you have to buy the Gridiron wheels for it work?

I got to get that 👍🏿👍🏿😁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh boy!
Out of curiosity, would the Stinger's tail running board now fit on the VAMP?
I like it .
This one finally pushe dme over the edge to order some Gridiron stuff.
Groundpounder?? I hardly know her! Lmao
It doesn't look clean. That would drive me nuts.
