I remember pulling guard duty in the Army during that series ..had an outlet in the guard shack..bought a portable TV and watched game 3 and 4..it was so good.
I was at this game and the playoff game. Two brutal losses especially the playoff game and for a while there I thought I don’t know if I should be going to games in person because they’re getting their asses kicked in and this is a pretty good football team.
The Lions just had things put together in that 91 season. They were unstoppable at home and it showed. The bad thing is they could NEVER EVER get past the Redskins especially at RFK. They got their ass beat 45-0 in the first week then when they got to the NFC Championship they got beat 41-10 at RFK again. They gave up 86 points in that time. Then lost at RFK again the next season, but a close loss. The Cowboys just weren't ready for the good teams yet. Getting crushed 34-10 but they overcame a 6-5 start and beat an undefeated Redskins team to win out to 11-5. In the playoffs, the Cowboys just didn't have the the rest of the puzzle pieces to put together yet and got smashed in the divisional round. The Cowboys drafted well and got in free agency Charles Haley as the final puzzle piece and Thomas Everett to play safety and everything was set. The Cowboys destroyed the Lions the next season and showed the NFL they were the team to beat.
To this day I maintain that if it hadn't been for Washington, the Lions would have won the Super Bowl that year. We were the best team in the league that year outside of Washington. We beat Buffalo at Buffalo to close out the season.
@@jasonalun but Buffalo pulled out their starters and already had the division won. The Lions had to do grind it out to win the division that day in Buffalo. You were not beating Washington that year or the next. Even the next year when Washington faltered, they still beat the Lions at RFK. Barely but they did win.
hope the lions and lions fans enjoyed their 10 mins of fame by beating us this game and 38-6 in the playoffs weeks later. Y'all can have those 2 wins and we will forever take our 3 Super Bowl Wins in 1992, 1993, and 1995.
You're as clueless af, pal it's obvious you weren't around to watch these 90s teams that won 2 division titles and the only playoff win and this current administration hasn't accomplished anything yet, you stooge!
This was on CBS cause CBS carried the NFC back then and NBC carried the AFC. Fox has been carrying the NFC since 1994 but the Lions will still be on CBS every now & then when they typically welcome in a AFC opponent at Ford Field but with the current TV deal the Lions can be randomly be on CBS every now & then even with they play a NFC opponent either at home or away from Ford Field.
I know that, I was just saying that NBC had Doubleheader rights this particular Sunday. If CBS had the Doubleheader with both Bears-Saints & Cowboys-Lions it would have been a Blockbuster. Especially with Game 7 of the World Series that night.
Jamie Johnson, thank you so much for uploading this game. This brings back great memories. GO LIONS!
Love seeing Barry Sanders score touchdowns!!
Twins Braves what a great World Series

Thank you for this post!!! Great game!! I was there in 1991! Seems like a lifetime ago!
91 was the best yr of the NFC add San Francisco & Philadelphia in the playoffs that wouldn't disappoint having a 8 team wild card
I remember Ray Crockett's pick six like it was yesterday. Loved how he stopped at the 1, turned around, and stepped ove the end zone line.
That might be the greatest pick six in NFL history
Thank you for uploading. No place louder than the Silverdome when the Lions had a good team.

@doublestar5383 Did you live in Michigan at the time?
@@jamiejohnson4524all my life. Sorry, just seen this. Pretty much have seen every game vs lions since.. 1981?
Who would’ve guessed this would be a playoff preview?
And that Detroit would blow them out twice?
Dallas got the last laugh the next year though.
This may be a playoff matchup once again this year.
Reminds me of what happened to the Texans this year.

@@jasonalunniners smacked Detroit 35-3.
I don't think Dallas wins the next 2 years without Haley.

Two future playoff teams in action for 1991
CBS commentator sound begins at 0:50
I wish CBS would bring back this theme song
I wish they used that theme as their pre game intro but used NFL on CBS theme from like 92-93 and 98-02 as regular theme.
How about Detroit Lions that was greatest lions team ever 🔥🔥🔥🔥
1st sunday sellout in Detroit since week 16 1985
I forgot how loud the Silverdome could get when the Lions played good.
What a performer Barry was the best
Hated that artificial tuff! Caused the premature end of so many careers!!
2:22:04- "Whoops! Running in the referee! Too bad they don't penalize officials for that! 😆
The intro theme is so funny.
Too bad Barry didn't have a good GM and a coaching staff like the current Lions have.

2:02:07- A "RARE" Touchdown celebration by Barry Sanders!
but he still threw the ball at the referee🙂🙂🙂 he didn't even lose his class there
Too bad this was an NBC Doubleheader day. Bears-Saints & Cowboys-Lions would have been a blockbuster DH.

Awesome video! Do you happen to have the full game for the LA Rams vs Lions in 1991, I think it was week 11 or 12
and the lions still suck..😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
That Lions mascot is so creepy.
I hate that it doesn’t show the score ever
1:53:16- Woah boy! A fumble by the Cowboys!!!
Zubaz @1:00:58
Lions owned the Cowboys that year.
E. Smith imitating B. Sanders @ 54:20
This is one of the worst videos I've ever seen!!
