Tried the apple cider method!! Amazing!! Hats off Melissa. Your tips and ideas never disappoint. Thank you. Just to let you know I tried this on already few days old flowers and it kept them going for a week after that. I used to always fill cold water from the tap and the luke warm water tip with apple cider vinegar just worked wonders!! Keep them coming. Love your videos. Have your amazing book next goal is the makers cleaning cloths!! :)
Great tips! I just got a beautiful arrangement for my birthday, and will definitely use some of these. At our last house, Ernie ate all of the fiddleheads, hostas (about 3), lillies, and different types of grass. This dog has nine lives. He never got sick from them, thankfully.
Yes, I am currently & have been owned by 2 cats for the last 20 years (gulp!) I too do not keep fresh flowers around because cats love to eat them. With my first 2 cats I tried them with cat grass and they devoured it within minutes each time. Fun to watch but not clean up afterwards lol Love your videos !! Watch them over and over. Keep 'm coming!
OMG! I got a beautiful surprise flower bouquet 💐 from someone special today. My cat didn’t pay any attention at first, but then she noticed the skinny, wispy, pointed greenery sticking out, and started playing & swatting at it. Then she started trying to taste it. I pulled it all out & it’s still a beautiful arrangement. Luckily, she doesn’t seem to be interested in the flowers!
Hi Melissa and Chad, leaves and petals below the water line begin to rot immediately and raise the bacteria level. I also boil the water, let it cool to the right temp and cut stems under water to prevent air from getting into stem. Embolisms aren't good for flora or fauna.
Our cats eat flowers too. They always tip the vase over and spill the water so I never keep flowers and I almost dread getting them.... They also have taste for chives and parsley!
I change the water every 2 or 3 days at the latest. Always wash the vase each time you change the water and trim the bottom of the stems. You have to remove the bacteria that sticks to the inside of the vase. I can get my flowers to last at least 3-4 weeks, when I do this..
I don't have live flowers at my house because of my cats. When I had flowers I used to put in the water some aspirin (1 tablet per 4L of water). Also it can be sprayed over. It is known to desestress plants. In fact most plants make their own salicylic acid to protect themselves, it improves their immune system.

Happy belated!!! Sad I can't say the same about the kitties...flowers do not like them.

Great great tips. My cat always wants to pull the flowers out of the case when she sees them. But luckily she doesn't get any kind of reaction.
How do you change the water without causing an air block in the stem?
Thanks for your tips!! Can you use brown sugar?

Does brown cane sugar work ?
Just worked more than brilliant
How often do you change the water with home recipe in the vase? Should the flowers & leaves be sprayed with water? How often ?
