Great to see you guys back on the PCT again with your great videos. 10 days of food. Hopefully, get to Duck pass into the Mammoth lakes upper lakes. Be very careful what you are wishing for. Forester pass at over 13.200 feet with a very steep south approach. I remember the JMT creek now most likely a raging river crossing at the bottom of Evolution valley area. I / we crossed the JMT evolution creek crossing in August maybe 10 years ago after a lighter snow winter. It was still nearly 80+ feet across with the water still nearly to our knees, and that was August. You will not be getting much cell phone coverage in the high sierras. High sierra June 2023 think frozen snow (cement) in mornings and slush in the afternoon. with wet boots and feet.
You are the best channel to follow this year. I do worry, because it is who I am, that you are heading into the Sierra right now. But I’m a wimp so, take anything I say with no authority. You will make it work.
Iam so glad your back!!! I've been watching for you every couple days. I would love a t shirt "didn't see that coming " great money maker for your charity. Any ways be safe and as always Happy Trails 😊
Great to see you back at KMS. Hope the trail gives you the best and safest path and greatest of memories. If you stop in Bishop you have to stop at Schatts Bakery and Mahogany Smoked Meats!
Codgers, Great to see you are back. I can only watch for a week as I will be getting on at Donner Pass in about 10 days. Maybe we will meet up in OR or WA. Safe travels! (By the way, I'm a codger too, or at least my grandsons tell me I have floppy skin!)
Glad to see your back My wife & I appreciate your humor & tenacious on the trail along with a great attitude. Good luck & safe hiking the rest of the trail!
My fiancée and I have been training for trail magic for you two... 😆 but it looks like I missed your return to trail. Well, we definitely gained strong skills with the portable pizza oven, deli sandwich making, stockpiling PB & Js and purchasing half of everything in our local Costco, 😆. The next goal was to provide for Huck, Julia and "Lookout" ... and thus far only Lookout is behind you guys. As far as hauling people around is concerned, it is very fulfilling. I just drove to pick up a person, haul them to where they needed to go, then back to the trail before I drove home... 317 miles in all. It's just what we do... and all in a days work.
I did the same thing after the desert section...I’m happy I did because from Sonora Pass to echo lake we tented on snow a number of times...I’ve been using it on the A T this year and I really like the kit
great to see you codgers back I have ben follow your great adventure on the pct I saw some ones video and I saw codger John with a group going into the sierras a was good to see him with a big group and I hope to see more videos of your adventure good luck on the sierras
Me too: missed you, glad you're back. I'm 72, and longing to get back to the high Sierras after a long absence. It might still be possible. You guys don't look old to me at all.
I'm 71 and still go hiking and backpacking in the Sierra. Conditioning at home is very helpful, like walking, doing basic dumbbell exercises, find something to give you a little cardio exercise as well. The problem this year is that most trails are still under lots of snow. However, right there in Kennedy Meadows South where the Codgers are at right now, I think the trail going north from there for the first 7 miles is snow free, or going south from there is snow free, too. Otherwise, waiting until mid August and September, many trails should be doable.
Yeah!!! I've missed you guys and the videos. I even was a little depressed one afternoon about it lol. I know there's lots of PCT hikers filming their adventures but I like your channel the best and don't watch much of the others. Fingers crossed you'll be able to upload content before the 10 days but if not, it will be exciting to see the start of the High Sierra adventure on upload day. Best of luck and safe hiking!
I found that with the flex kit that the xFlex Kit was good name for it as when you get a little wind the tent will bow in on you. You might use it with supporting the middle line with a standing stick and you might even try to support the bow flex sticks with the middle line tie up. Good luck on your leg. Good thing see you going at it again.
Thought y'all might like a quick update from ms rumbles. All is well with the Codgers. They were at 732 last night. For my prayer family, continue to keep them in your prayers.🙏 Thanks for following.
Welcome back! The Bishop Pass trail to South Lake is fantastically beautiful, but the pass itself is often snow-covered until late July--even in dry years. Good luck either way!
So happy to see you back . Looking forward to seeing the rest of your journey , stay safe and have fun. I also danced on a picnic table once , fell off too, right into my very lit fire pit. Fortunately I was pulled out quickly. Lol. Also a very long time ago 🤣 🇨🇦❤️
Yay! You are back. Been waiting for your return. Happy Trails :) Noticed you met ‘Jukebox’ Julia from the UK 🇬🇧 I found out about you both through Julia. Love your channel. Tshirts are a awesome idea…‘didn’t see that coming’ :)
Yesss!! Missed you both!! Lets gooooo!! If you end up going over Kearsarge, I definitely recommend the Independence inn!! Jim is one of the coolest peeps my son and I met when we did the JMT! Shared a beer with him, he gave us a ride back up to Onion Valley campground and when we finished the trail and were heading back up 395 to my vehicle in Yosemite we made sure to stop by and deliver a twelve pack of beer and thank him again for his hospitality. ✌️
It’s nice to see others that I watch on here like Huck.
Can you tell by all the comments that we've missed you guys? What a joy it is to have you back! Love your videos and style. Onward!
