Back when this game came out it was deff top of the line going back to it its rough. Decent story deff a ps1 classic. These thentypes of games that need remade
I don’t know, RE’s is super cheesy and goofy, but it is very memorable. It’s better than just stilted bad voice acting. I mean this voice acting isn’t that bad either to be fair, but RE’s is in that so bad it’s good category.
I fucking watched this in my Universities library and almost lost it too many times! Thanks for all the awesome uploads as of late, keep up the great work.
What's even more surprising is that this came out August 1996..... whilst the very first Resident Evil came out in March 1996..... this clearly isn't a cash in at all.
I remember getting Overblood months after Resident Evil with my dad. All because the gameplay resembled RE so much and I even thought it was actually a side story to Barry. I was 6.
Cutting through the floor with the Laser Knife was by far the most absurd thing to figure out. My Aunt and I had to contact the 900 help line in the manual to get through that part. No kidding, we had to PAY to complete our already purchased game.
My mom and I called that damn line, guess how much was tacked on to our phone bill? 24 bucks because we didn't catch the part of the recording we needed to hear the first time, so we had to call and sit through it twice...
This game actually looks really impressive compared to other titles released in 1997, for example compare this to Final Fantasy 7 (one of my all time favorite games) and this game has much better graphics, and voice acting. Thats pretty impressive when you consider Final Fantasy 7 was the most expensive game ever made at the time.
Overblood 1 was also only 4 hours long, compared to the behemoth that is FF7 which was so big it had to be spread over 3 disks. The significantly shorter length of Overblood 1 meant they could spend more time, resources, and disk space on having better graphics and voice acting.
It was. I remember picking this game up after clock tower and before resident evil. I remember it fondly. But it was a bitch, and I never beat it since I rented it. But, here I am, searching it on UA-cam at 4am over 20 years later. RIP pipo.
This is a cool idea for a series, and I have a suggestion: Koudelka. It a pretty lesser known JRPG for PlayStation 1 with an atmosphere very reminiscent of Resident Evil, and its pretty great. I'm not sure it will meet your standards of being practically unknown, but maybe check it out.
Wow, you actually got Mark Brown to make a cameo in this video!? You two are some of my favorite youtubers. I can't get enough of these awkward as fuck early 3D games that try so hard to be "cinematic". It's so endearing, even though they're often dumpster fires. ...Now about that proper DMC1 review...
This is definitely a sink or swim game (or alternately, fall over and over, but get back up and keep trying), but that just makes completing it a fulfilling reward in itself, which is good because the actual ending leaves much to be desired.
Not gona lie... I'm so glad one of my favorite youtubers at least mentioned silent bomber in passing . that game was my first game I ever beat as a youngin' was also the first game me and my bother bonded over . thanks man . for bringing back so good memories for a minute
I'm genuinely shocked you managed to force yourself to get through this whole game. I'm nuts for PS1 horror but this... this was painful back in the day. Amazing video, man.
I thought I was the only person in the world who ever played OverBlood--I never even knew it got a sequel--but I never owned it; I picked it up as a rental back in the day, and only got as far as the part where Millie starts accompanying you. You just provided some much needed closure to an unresolved issue from this subscriber's past.
Okay, I'm only halfway through the video, and I'm already loving this new segment. you seem to have gotten your energy back, too. I'm glad you're feeling better.... I think.
i think i know how raz was "cured" he was cloned AGAIN, this time somehow with his memories intact so yeah, the raz at game start is dead. millie didn't want to break the news to him because holy existential crisis batman
Okay listen up, I know this'll sound sadistic but the fucking death screams in this videogame are unmatched in hilarity for me. I mean just fucking listen at 9:19. I literally cant stop laughing. When I played this myself as a kid and fell during the jumping bits him throwing his hands up in the air and falling straight down like a metal plank while screaming his ass off also slaughtered me.
I feel like his connection to the robot is like a Castaway Wilson thing, since he has no idea when he'll be able to interact with a human again. So to me it makes sense that he got upset.
I remember your first Overblood review. It was hilarious. This video was hilarious too. Nice to see you go back to your older style. I'm all in for a new look at Overblood 2!
No shit back in the day when I was like 12 my friend and I rented and beat this game in one night. Back then good ps1 games were hard to come by and the internet wasn't as solid as it is now, so I remember this actually being fun as I was also a big fan of resident evil, which this was obviously trying to mimic. "PEEEEPOOOOOOOOOO!" was a joke for a long time, thanks for the trip down memory lane bud, cheers!
I miss the good old PS1 stank. I was just listening to the soundtrack of croc for fuck's sake. How do you even get these games? Luck? Terrible misfortune?
OverBlood 2 is not a survival horror, it's action adventure rpg. As for the original OverBlood, I honestly think it's underrated, for it's time, the game was pretty decent, for a game made by a very small company with a very small team.
Never did get to finish Overblood 2. There was a glitch in the game I got when I went through a certain door that crashed the game. I thought it was a glitch from the factory as I sold the copy I had and got another off another company shelf. Turns out it was the same game, just the shop down the road bought it to stock their shelves. I was ten, didn't know any better. XP
Whenever I see this game, I'm always reminded of that one Consolevania episode where they did a Overblood sketch with "Pipo" made out of an overheard projector taped to an office chair.
Oh yeah baby I'm an OG to this Channel I remember when you uploaded Overblood 2, in "Obscure ps1 Games......Yeah I'm making that a thing XD" I look forward to the re-visit of this game!
The original OverBlood is actually a game that sticks out very starkly in my mind. Not because I played it; because there was a period of time when my stepfather was playing it and I'd always see it on the goddamn TV when I walked through the living room. There were several games like that, including Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Most of them I later found the opportunity to re-visit when I was older and became quite attached to (Blood Omen being one such game), but OverBlood is a game I was never "lucky" enough to find anything connected to until I saw your video on OverBlood 2. At which point I was seriously glad not to have wasted any time on the series.

I came here after experiencing the madness of Overblood 2 first. Just like god intended.
Pippo's arc is a masterclass of storytelling. Prove me wrong.
Immediately went to Mark Brown's page to see if he made an Overblood video.
bravo gents, my two british loves combine. Just needs some Ahoy.
I just got into GamingBritShow and ahoy today. How did I watch Mark Brown for so long without finding out about this interconnected mesh? Lol.

Yeah they would have been working on this long before ever hearing about RE
It has nothing to do with Resident Evil. Overblood is heavily inspired by Delphine Software's Fade to Black, which was released in 1995.
I remember getting Overblood months after Resident Evil with my dad. All because the gameplay resembled RE so much and I even thought it was actually a side story to Barry. I was 6.
This was really fun to watch, crappy game reviews are so entertaining for some reason
Overblood HD remake. The demand is coming. I can feel it.
Man, this game stuck with me through the years. I would kill for a modern reinterpretation.
Too bad EA owns it, so it will probably never happen. :(
I think EA actually only published 1, since they have no connection to 2.
