Don’t tell the Washington Post how old the F-16 platform is
If we're talking about the original design yes, but the modern ones like the block 70 or 72 is actually much better.
@@gunmasterx1164but are we talking about the recent ones?
@@sigma_frenchie4075 Ukraine is getting the block 70
@@gunmasterx1164 no they are not. The mig 29 was introduced in 1983. The Vipers the Danes are sending are 50 yr old A/B variants which received a MLU but the crafts are older than the MiG-29 itself. Google is free
@@humptydumpty3345And you would have found out on google that the MLU significantly upgraded the capabilities of those F-16s, especially compared to the MiG-29s in use by ukraine today.
Actually the Mig29 is still a good fighter in the right role. It doesn't have the range or avionics of a more modern jet but as a point defence it still is effective. The pilots and maintenance personnel know the plane and they have the parts to keep them flying. Ultimately to take the fight to Russia they will need something more modern but the planes complement each other. The F16 for long range strikes and scramble the migs when the radar detects an attack. Especially if they can put when they put in more modern NATO standard radar and weapon control systems into the pigs. It's like Britain in WW2. The Spitfires went after the escort fighters leaving the Hurricanes free reign to go after the bombers.
The mig 29 isn’t good enough because the pilots have over 90% attrition rate. Your most likely to survive the worst kind of cancer then to have survived thus far in the war as a Ukrainian pilot operating those vehicles
Every week I hear news of a couple SU-29s being shot down by the Russians. F-16s might be able to compete with SU-35s the Russians already have SU-57s.
@@schutzanzug4518 What source are u citing for the "90%" value?
@@billymadison8574 WDMMA, CNN, and Orxy. Ukraine had 81 fighter jets. At least 78 Ukrainian fighter jets are confirmed to be shot down. NATO has sent 30-40 or so older aircraft to Ukraine, including air support and helicopters. Orxy specifically makes a point on this is ONLY confirmed, and that there are likely much more that have not been confirmed, especially with jets which are most of the time shot down 100 km away now a days.
And CNN in one of their ukriane pilot articles interviewed a pilot who lost “many wingmen” and CNN states that being a pilot is extremely risky because they have the highest attrition rate in the entire war at around 90%. This is because vastly superior su-35’s and more modern radar systems form the Russian army, and the very good anti air SAMs Russia has. At the beginning of the war, Russia set 2 consecutive world records by shooting a ukriane jet out at 190 km, and then 220km a week later.
Old Ukraines Migs vs Russians SU 35 no chance...Russia didnt use SU 57 in Ukraine..
at first I thought I was looking at DCS....its crazy how good graphics have become
ME TOO HAHAHAH
The Mig 29 is doing exactly what it was designed to do, be a cheap multirole frontline fighter that can cover airspace when needed. The Su 27 and its derivatives are completely different. They are dedicated air superiority fighters that sit back and sling missiles at long range, they are much more expensive and fewer in number. Sending Mig 29s against Su 27 isn't what you're meant to do. Old F-16s are exactly the same, they were designed to be cheap and cheerful whilst the F-15 is an equivalent to the Su 27. Getting F-16s won't solve this problem lmao.
Even F15 aren't going to solve this problem, first because we wouldn't and we couldn't send enough of them and secondly because F15 technology is too old yet, that's why US started updating them (F15EX).
In these last 2-3 years our most updated NATO F35s have been intercepted several times by Su35s without being able to detect these Su35s 'till these were flying close enough and started jammering our F35s, proving that their jammer technology is still better than our most updated anti jammer technology while we also can't really explain how was it possible that an F35 having a significatly lower RCS couldn't see Su35 coming while Su35 could spot with its radars our F35s and intercept them.
People are so delusional that they still don't get that if Russia was a third world country, USA was controlling their territory already; if this isn't happening, and if USA had to do an alleance of more than 30 countries against Russia, its because Russia isn't that weak as our prpaganda is trying to tell us. There is no way Ukraine is gonna win this war, i'm saying this since the begin. No matter what weapons or vehicles we will send them, Russia military industries is way more efficient and advanced than Ukraine.
Even Europe can't really do much to keep up to Russia military indistries, we're spending billions of euroes to produce in 1 year the same amount of artillery shells that Russia can produce in less than a couple of weeks.
Thank for understanding that it is pointless to continue this war
Real life is not War Thunder little boy
@@camfurey5648 I don't play war thunder dickhead, you obviously do though, so why don't you go play a few matches whilst the adults talk.
@@yoshimitsu1260 bro, the reason US hasn't invaded Russia is because they're sitting atop almost 6,000 nuclear warheads. It has nothing to do with how advanced their tech is; it's the fact that Putin will glass the European and North American continents (and US and its allies likewise to Russia).
As for your claim about interception and jamming, I'd like to see a source. Currently, both sides regularly fly close to each other's air spaces to gauge their reaction times and tactics. Russian planes regularly fly into Alaskan airspace, and USAF fighters regularly intercept them and escort them away.
That's flying at treetop level not bad for a plane that doesnt have terrain following radar those pilots got some real balls

Mig-29's are still in service and the 29K and 29M as well as the 29 OVT have been modernized with glass cockpits and better avionics and radar. The Ukrainians simply use an earlier version. Though they can't have many left at this time. US/UK media; fricken drama queens.

People are just delusional, this is just western prpaganda.
Every time we've sent to Ukraine a new western weapon or vehicles our (braindead) people and media were all like "this is gonna end the war because we're so much stronger", then reality just threw a punch on their faces, lol.
There is no damn magic weapon, Mig29s aren't trash but Ukraine just have old soviet Mig29s while Russia have updated Mig29s and Su27s as you said.
There is not a single chance Ukraine is going to win, F16 won't be game changer and even F15 wouldn't be a game changer.
Firstly because we won't send them many of these, secondly because we wouldn't send them the most updated version of these jets that we have.

pretty thin gruel here… you barely break the surface of this complicated issue. The US (and its allies) should have been facilitating a move (for Ukraine) to modern western jets months ago. In the mean time, more Ukrainian civilians and soldiers/airmen have died needlessly.
US leadership should be focused on the mess in its own backyard, but instead we meddle in the business of other countries: Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria... Americans should stop being brainwashed by the government and state media and think for themselves.
Training is not a short term thing. As for when they started, I highly doubt it just started.
Throwing modern equipment is not going to shop deaths. Training, ammunition, and tried equipment will. In the end, whatever a crew can use effectively is what they should be using.
@@justadude8716 Modern equipment does absolutely help stop deaths. like the US personal vehicles. They have already saved many soldiers from shells and mines because of advancements in design to deflect explosions. Besides Ukrainians have been asking to train since last year. Some have already been trained in simulators for F-16s in the US.
The real reason is politics, and strategy, i.e. not to suddenly overwhelm Russian and have them react with nukes. This is about slowly breaking the Russian military, throwing it into disarray so it tears its self apart, like whats happening already. Unfortunately delays also mean innocent Ukrainian deaths

The F18 is aging, in fact the legacy Hornets were retired completely a couple years ago...😂
man the Mig 29 is ancient, it was far suppased by the F16A as soon as it came out, the only good thing the MIg 29 did well was flight dynamics, its radar is analog and has no digital control, the F18 was the first western fighter with complete digital control and has very good radar and avionics .. the mig 29 is very primitive probably equal to a F5 early model one

Russia is in the best position to fight a war of attrition. Even with the West influx of money, it’s ultimately left up to Ukraine as to the acceptable body count that they can endure.
Exactly everyone still thinks the metrics of this war or measured by capturing Kyiv that changed a long time ago. The metrics of measuring this war are pushing Russia off the territory they currently occupy Which is much easier said than done they start the results so far of the counteroffensive
A lot can be said about your statement. But Russia is a paper bear. Aging equipment left outside in the harsh weather with open hatches and ports, their vehicle supply is short. They can't produce anything modern besides a retro tank for the parades. Any competent military officer was let go due to Putin's paranoia and training skills were reduced, making the military for the lazy in Russian society. I'm not saying they will run out in 2 weeks or next year. But if all the US has to invest is 40 billion to completely declaw the bear, I'm absolutely amazed that Russia even chose this fight. Missiles don't always hit their target
***BREAKING NEWS!***
Missiles miss their targets more often because of countermeasures employed by the target.
Don’t just bet a long distance missile will just veer off course randomly, these machines aren’t too complex consistently hit the target.
Im no expert by any means but i dont understand the low altitude tactics they use these planes on both sides sometimes. I thought these planes were designed to avoid ground threats and attack from above
Low altitude flight is a necessary measure since aviation is constantly monitored by SAM radars starting from an altitude of 1,500 feet and the chance of losing an aircraft even at such an altitude increases many times, however, an aircraft flying at low altitude creates a Doppler effect with the earth's surface, which makes it practically invisible to SAM radars, missiles and other aircraft. In fact, the sound from the aircraft will be displayed on the radar (provided that the SAM radar has the ability to detect sound), but the accuracy of the radar will be noticeably lower, including due to the diffraction of the sound wave and the loss of part of its energy when it collides with the surface of the earth, trees, buildings and other obstacles. Of course, anti-missile countermeasures could be used at high altitude, but their number is very limited, which dictates new conditions for certain missions.
Why can't they exchange just the radar for a newer one?
That was my first thought too, but I imagine it might not be as simple even as mounting a NATO missile on an incompatible hardpoint - they might need a totally different shape of nose cone to accommodate it, which could mess up the aerodynamics of the plane, even if a decent one could be fabricated - not a simple a problem in itself? In some ways this is what a 'wingman' drone could be good for - then allied countries need only compatible displays, controls, and hardpoints for their bombtrucks.
