This is the first video I came across of yours that brought me to your channel. It’s awesome to come back and see how far this has taken you. Keep up the great work Greg!
It doesn't move that quickly up and down, he sped the video up while editing. If you want to see how quickly it ACTUALLY goes up and down, play the video at ".25 speed"
You're absolutely right duals do add a lot of stability. That's why most of us that tow heavy have them on our trucks. So we get that stability with any trailer we hook up to. Haha. Just playin. :D
Please can you explain how your trailer brakes operate from the cab. Is it by independent control or by foot brake operation. Do you have brake predominance on your trailer? Has your trailer got EBS or ABS? 9 metric tonnes is a lot for a pick up
Great video thanks for showing the dovetail latch and talking bout bounce I pulled a load max dovetail latch is junk looking at pj and big Tex but still think I'm going to look more at monster ramps less parts to fail good looking ride though
i out grew my 16ft skidsteer trailer so i got a 20 plus 4. 9 ton equipment trl. i went from 2 5200lb axles to 2 9000lb axles. i paid $2500 on my 89 owl trailer put $300 to fix one axle brakes and put $800 into tires and i love it. my trk i had wieghted 7k trl wieghts another 6k and then my tractor 7k and i was cruising pretty good but my gm 6.5td was a little out of its league so now im looking for a cummins. forgot to mention im a pintle hitch guy alot nicer than a ball unless your talking gooseneck
Love your videos. I live right up the road from you and break my neck every time I drive by. 08 3rd gen is sooo clean. Inline exhaust break in the future? Keep em coming!
Do people actually have good luck with Optima batteries in these applications. I would think an actual HD marine / deep cycle battery would perform much better. I know guys that used the Optimas in boat applications and they didn't work well at all.
my man. I've been lookin at that identical setup. knew i could get the 12v and dmax on, but couldn't figure out if I could still get the hotrods on. thanks man. yall heading down to rudys this year?
how is the finish holding up? I have heard from some PJ Owners about problems with paint flaking and rust. Are you experiencing any issues in that area?
I'm in the market for goose neck, probably going to go with a big tex 35 foot with single tandems. I would love to get the dual tandems, but that would put you in a combined GVW over 26K IB. I thought you needed a CDL if you are over 26k combined GVW?
t100driver1 depends on the state you are operating in. All states have their own laws. California requires a class A when towing over 10k. But you can still drive a single vehicle with a GVW 26k.
That dovetail sure is long. Those hydraulic dove trailers sure are slick. I would love to get one but it'll have to be a good deal on a used one because new they sure cost a pretty penny.
yes it is that that is a sweet trailer and and when you been living thing you've been with your knees and your legs are you sure this point I interpret protect your bear and I know that anybody who does something like I do and picture of you and now everyone peace
Yes you do . You take the trailers gvwr and trucks gvwr add that together you get over 26k you need a cdl. I learned the hard way coming back from mass empty with my set up and got put out of service for no CDL don't let anyone tell you different
the north east patriot If you don’t mind saying, when you got put out of service did you have to pay a fine or did someone just have to come get the trailer?
hey man, been watching all your vids and they're awesome, love your trucks. I'm building a 2 nd gen 24v myself to. unrelated question, I. noticed your from Jersey, so am I, I was wondering how you get away without a front license plate? do you get bothered much?
Where am at they don't really bother trucks so much but I don't run a front plate on anything and have heavy tint and don't get bothered really too too much.
What kind of loads are you pulling? Hotshot, construction etc and how heavy? I am looking at one under 26000 GVWR so I don't need a CDL. Only problem is I have a Track loader that weighs in around 12,000 lbs, which is no issue, and I currently have an excavator that is under 11,000, but I am looking at expanding to a heavier machine that is pushing 20,000 lbs and I am afraid I am going to have to go to a heavier setup and get a CDL. Also, opinion is all over the place regarding CDL thresholds. Some say it is 26,000, but I have also heard that once you go to tandem axles you have to have a CDL. Do you know anything about that in your local area? Going to a heavier trailer setup I have to really look at the numbers. If I only need the heavier machine moved 4 or 5 times a year, it really isn't cost effective to buy another trailer just for the excavator. I can have someone move it for me
Hey Gary, It's not a big deal to get a Class A CDL. I don't understand why so many people are reluctant to get one. My oldest son came to me about 2 years ago for my opinion on the HotShot business. I honestly didn't see the money my son's friend was telling him he could make running from Chicago to Milwaukee. I ended up getting into it, and my son didn't. Go figure! Anyway, I bought a brand new 2016 Denali and a 2017 BigTex 30+5 dual axle flatbed w/MegaRamps. The money they were talking about is there, but you're driving a lot further than Chicago to Milwaukee, for sure! All in all, I'm glad I made the decision to get into this business. I have my own Authority and DOT. I was the first one hired (self-employed) and the last one to be fired! Good luck out there Gents, and safe travels...
I would really like a closer look and the tail lock. and the barrel size and stroke of the life cylinders, you have to keep in mind a few things to save you huge fines, and safety of you and others, this may vary from Canada to USA, but I am specking for Canada. you have a small truck there, and you can not exceed the Max GVW of the towing truck, 2nd with any drivers license other then a class A licence you can not tow any thing over 10,000 Lbs, so in other words if and you will get pulled into the hyw MTO scales. your trailer axels can not weigh more then 10,000 Lbs unless you have 2 things a truck that has a tow max GVW of over 10,000 and over what ever weight your towing, and a class A licences (to drive a transport, I have a class DZ witch I can drive a tandem dump truck with air brakes, I cant tow anything that weighs over 10,000 Lbs, just because your truck can pull it, it don't mean your legal by far, last but not least a trailer this sizes as well s many smaller ones need a yearly MTO safety, one of my trailers is rated at 7000Lbs, now I can tow it with my 1/2 ton my 3/4 ton with out a yearly MTO safety ,but if I put it behind my 1 ton or my 5 ton it had better have a valid MTO safety on it, it is a 2" sq yellow sticker with the month and year punched on it when it was last safety, or its up to a 10,000$ fine, weather loaded or not
GREG_ALBERALLA yeah, I have a set of helper bags in the back of my second GEN and always wanted to put a compressor in but never got around to it. That's a pretty good idea. I like that.
I like how you try to match everything. I really like the stained wood look. I would like to do it to my trailer. but my Big Texas has been hammered on and it's not worth it. I kinda wish I went with PJ now...
Greg, I like your trailer, Im just wondering if there would be an advantage having a fifth wheel setup instead? I don't know, that's why im asking. Im going to be in the market for a similar trailer this summer and trying to learn more about the different set ups
billy greenhorn hello there I'm a new kid to Greg's show here and love it! Especially that he and his brother (or brothers?) have such an affection to 6 speeds and built some Bad A$$ gear bangers! Regarding the gooseneck vs fifth wheel question you had a lot of camp trailers are 5th wheel because they are SO damn heavy and using that set up gives more surface area for the plate and 4 legs to spread all that weight out to transfer into your pickup frame and so on. however when your trailer is unhooked you have slim to no bed space without then removing the 5th wheel plate, where the gooseneck now........most are turnover balls these days so in as fast as you can say turn over ball, you now have full use of your bed again. You'd be surprised what can and has been hauled for weight on a gooseneck flatbed. I prefer gooseneck because it's so simple, hook and unhook, and not have to jack around with the damn fifth wheel junk to store it when not in use and not be able to haul in the pickup bed...........ahhhhh makes me crazy thinkin about it lol. Anyway just my 2 bits, so find the pros and cons for what you need and either way will get er done for ya
Hey Billy, The 5th wheel set-up is a lot sturdier than the gooseneck, however as Woos said, there are advantages to the gooseneck with the turnover ball. I have a B&W gooseneck, but after being out here on the road for a year driving commercially, I have learned a few things, and I would definitely do a few things different with the next truck/trailer combo, and the set up I use. Good luck in your search.
hey Greg so how much weight can you pull with your truck legally with that trailer? because I'm sure that trailer exceeds your trucks limits and how much is the trailer rated for its self?
mikethorntonr1 That trailer is at least 8k empty, add his referenced 8k short bed pickup and depending on configuration of that tow vehicle, you could already be over weight by 4k pounds (ex. my 06 2500 SLT 4wd, diesel 6spd 3.73s, at 12.3k).
thats not correct, truck and tongue weight can be 12.3k but truck and trailer can be closer to 20k on your derge, my 03 f450 is rated for 26k truck n trailer
Correct, with MY configuration (seemingly very similar to this video) the GCWR is 20k lbs. Meaning, a maximum trailer + load of 12,850 lbs. If I pulled the PJ in the video with a load over approx. 4000 lbs, ...no bueno. That is too much trailer for that truck, if you're talking max payload. He can pull greater payload with less trailer (which is the point, isn't it?).
if your trailer excels on MTO hyw scales weighs over 10,000 Lbs you better have a drivers License for Driving transport trucks in Canada that's a class A drivers license, F450 is a 3 ton truck the F550 is a 5 ton truck, 2 years ago my 5 ton was licensed for 13000 lbs total I got pulled into the scales and was over my 13000, I got a fine and had to leave the 8000 Lb trailer at the scales until I went to the license office and uped the license on the truck to 33000 Lbs (15,000 KG) the trailer put me well over weight, new plates cost me 480.00# for 6 months
Me likey. Sooooooo, 2 axle....dual wheels....elct-hydraulic Disc brakes .... and Hydraulic Dovetail ....... and Tows like a Laser. Heavy-duty PJ. trailer ....... and 12k Winch ..... Cool --- very much good video.
I drive a semi truck for swift and it's sad how hot shots make more then double what I make I'm going to quit and do hot shot instead of being a slave for swift
GREG_ALBERALLA I been asking around. just be honest lol did they kill hubs and ball joints like Ppl say. I have an 06 I want a 6" lift 22x14 on 33s. but if Inna be buying hubs etc every other month I'll do x12s
I mean I would never daily anything on these terrible roads with 14's most likely, mine were just weekend use when I had them. People do it but ehh idk really lol
need a cdl A and current med card to run that trailer. Can easily overload those non E range lo pro tires on your truck. Nice trailer tho and stained deck looks nice
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles: Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
CDL is a commercial drivers license which is completely different then a class a or b license everyone here who says a cdl is required needs to learn the difference.
A CLASS A driver's license is required to drive any combination of a vehicle + trailer that has a GVWR of more than 26,000lbs. This is all cases, not just for persons using commercially. Unless you have a special exception like a farmers business license then you are not exempt from these rules. Don't confuse this with D.O.T. requirements such as tags numbers on your vehicle. This guy's setup is with no question a CLASS A setup over 26,000lbs combined truck and trailer. If you get pulled over you will be fined for not having a required license and you will get double fined for every pound over the limit you are actually towing. Every state is a little different but the 26,000lb is pretty much the across the board standard rule of law!
I have no idea what he does for a living. I don't think he has said much or anything about it. I love diesels also and am looking to buying one soon. :)
+mike Moore I hall thages for peppal I hope things for people quick clean up scripture is junkyards taking back to school. My suggestion to all hot shot truckers don't buy a new truck by an old 90s truck and run papper logs and I also think it's way better to buy a gas powered old truck considering gas is way cheaper nearly a dollar cheaper
The drone shots are awesome! What a beast of a trailer... can't wait for rolling shots with the other truck on it when the weather gets nicer.
Great video! All really helpful info. Found this video right before I bought my trailer. Most versatile setup, agreed. Thanks!
Great video! You now have me considering a PJ versus the other trailers.
Man I'm in love!! Awesome setup.
I have one of PJ's dump trailers, I couldn't be happier. I haven't had a single problem in 3 years and I use if for my landscape company
This is the first video I came across of yours that brought me to your channel. It’s awesome to come back and see how far this has taken you. Keep up the great work Greg!
Using the hydraulics to do a tire change is quite nifty!
Nice vid...here n two weeks I'll be ordering a PJ trailer thanks for the tip option on brakes I'll be definitely getting the disc brakes haha
Nice trailer. Love the blacked out look and the hydro ramp
Greg you are awesome, along with the rest of the crew.
Looks crazy behind the truck!👏🏼
Sweet trailer. Actually pretty impressed on how fast the dovetail moves up and down
It doesn't move that quickly up and down, he sped the video up while editing. If you want to see how quickly it ACTUALLY goes up and down, play the video at ".25 speed"

Great job on the video man! Love the truck and you got a new sub!
Another great video man 👍🏻. And them drone shots tho, very nice.
Thanks for the video gives me a great ideal I'm trying to get into hotshot
What kind of tires are you running on your truck? And are they load range E's?
What's the wheel and tire set-up on your tow rig?
have a video fully loaded towing?
Please can you explain how your trailer brakes operate from the cab. Is it by independent control or by foot brake operation. Do you have brake predominance on your trailer? Has your trailer got EBS or ABS?
9 metric tonnes is a lot for a pick up
Great video thanks for showing the dovetail latch and talking bout bounce I pulled a load max dovetail latch is junk looking at pj and big Tex but still think I'm going to look more at monster ramps less parts to fail good looking ride though
*what's best for this trailer ford?ram?*
Do you like towing with a long bed over a short bed? Say a mega cab?
How many cars can you load on this trailer?
i out grew my 16ft skidsteer trailer so i got a 20 plus 4. 9 ton equipment trl. i went from 2 5200lb axles to 2 9000lb axles. i paid $2500 on my 89 owl trailer put $300 to fix one axle brakes and put $800 into tires and i love it. my trk i had wieghted 7k trl wieghts another 6k and then my tractor 7k and i was cruising pretty good but my gm 6.5td was a little out of its league so now im looking for a cummins. forgot to mention im a pintle hitch guy alot nicer than a ball unless your talking gooseneck
What's a set up like this go for?
whats the price and how many feet is it again?
What size tires on the truck man? How's it lowered in the front or is it?
What do you do for a living? Have you ever hotshotted with that trailer? I love the setup and want one just like it.
Nice setup Greg. You've got some $$ tied up there. I'd hotshot on the side for some extra play money if I had that.
Don't require a DOT bumper on this?
How I can contact with the company,I want to buy one of these tell me how much plz
love it like crazyyyy just wish they wouldent have put the axles so far up on the trailer
Love the set up
How much did the trailer run you and what do they run new with all the upgrades? Good video.
Is that the q1000 or the q2000 weber cover? Looking for the same 1....
Go to tractor supply they have a large winch cover for there "traveller" series
I've been looking at PJ trailers, thanks for the info!
Junkyard Dan go to pj trailers in powderly tx. Best price in the country you can pick it up just 3 miles from the manufacturer
What brand tool box
Awesome truck bro!
I have the same set up only with a 2022 f 250 super duty 6.7 litter
Very informative video 👍🏼
What sort of work do you do?
are you into transportations? Looks like this truck could deliver some stuff with that platform! Or a big ass mud truck i dont know
Love gooseneck trailers. Superior to bumper pull. Use them all the time.
what brand toolbox do you have in the bed of your truck?
Juan Domingo
Pretty sure it’s a Dee Zee DZ8560WB.
I have that same trailer everything is the same as mine only thing that is different is mine is a 15
Love your videos. I live right up the road from you and break my neck every time I drive by. 08 3rd gen is sooo clean. Inline exhaust break in the future? Keep em coming!
Thanks! No plans for a exhaust brake with this setup, with the manual it has no problem stopping good even fully loaded
Ok
been looking at there power dovetail so much want $
That is a damn nice trailer!
Is it for sale?
great video. Learned a lot
Do you still have this trailer? Long term review video if you still do?

Up in the air about Spring, really hoping for fall for sure
What type of work do you do? Awesome videos btw!
Just subscribed and started watching all ur vids. What kind of toolbox is in ur truck bed? I like how I can't see it over the bed sides.
Phillip Deist
Looks like a Dee Zee DZ8560WB
how is the finish holding up? I have heard from some PJ Owners about problems with paint flaking and rust. Are you experiencing any issues in that area?
Gary Crumrine they're powdercoated
@Game Bred Duramax mines 9 months old and looks like complete shit
How much is the trailer ??
The bad land winches are a really good winch. A lot of people will walk by them because of being from HB. They are missing out
I'm in the market for goose neck, probably going to go with a big tex 35 foot with single tandems. I would love to get the dual tandems, but that would put you in a combined GVW over 26K IB. I thought you needed a CDL if you are over 26k combined GVW?
t100driver1 depends on the state you are operating in. All states have their own laws. California requires a class A when towing over 10k. But you can still drive a single vehicle with a GVW 26k.
thanks greg good vid
That dovetail sure is long. Those hydraulic dove trailers sure are slick. I would love to get one but it'll have to be a good deal on a used one because new they sure cost a pretty penny.

Can we see your truck hauling stuff on the trailer? Thanks for the video!
Damn, that music is killing me!
Hey Greg,if you dont mind me asking. I want to start hauling, do you need a CDL for that setup?
Yes you do . You take the trailers gvwr and trucks gvwr add that together you get over 26k you need a cdl. I learned the hard way coming back from mass empty with my set up and got put out of service for no CDL don't let anyone tell you different

GREG_ALBERALLA I haven't been bothered for my tint, but I don't think I can get away without a front plate lol
transamfan81 in upstate NY I got away with no front plate for like 3 yrs then got a warning for not having one lol. sucks!
Gotta win that giveaway!!! Flashback Deja vu 🤪🤪🤪
holy shit. that's impressive
I never knew you had a tool box in your bed you should do a video on how you hid it and set it up I want one just like that
Just buy an "in bed tool box" many places sell them
What kind of loads are you pulling? Hotshot, construction etc and how heavy? I am looking at one under 26000 GVWR so I don't need a CDL. Hey Greg, what brand portable air compressor do you use?
It is a Kobalt unit from lowes, nothing too fancy, its slow but it only has to fill a small area to a low psi, a tire it would be there all day lol
GREG_ALBERALLA
yeah, I have a set of helper bags in the back of my second GEN and always wanted to put a compressor in but never got around to it. That's a pretty good idea. I like that.
Ahh got ya, ya i literally just extended the wiring long enough to reach all the way to the back of the truck
I like how you try to match everything. I really like the stained wood look. I would like to do it to my trailer. but my Big Texas has been hammered on and it's not worth it. I kinda wish I went with PJ now...

Thank you for the replies guys, I learned a lot, especially about the turnover ball. Thanks Woos 31 !
billy greenhorn Hey you betcha man, like I say there's many ways to skin a cat and that's what I like. Good luck with your direction buddy
Thanks again bud
Hey Billy,
The 5th wheel set-up is a lot sturdier than the gooseneck, however as Woos said, there are advantages to the gooseneck with the turnover ball. I'm happy with my MAXXD
Hillsboro Trailers are great too, I've had 20,000 plus LBS on mine. That's a nice truck Trailer setup though 👌🏻👌🏻
hey Greg so how much weight can you pull with your truck legally with that trailer? because I'm sure that trailer exceeds your trucks limits and how much is the trailer rated for its self?
mikethorntonr1 That trailer is at least 8k empty, add his referenced 8k short bed pickup and depending on configuration of that tow vehicle, you could already be over weight by 4k pounds (ex. my 06 2500 SLT 4wd, diesel 6spd 3.73s, at 12.3k).

He can pull greater payload with less trailer (which is the point, isn't it?).
yeah its not the right truck for the trailer, but any 1 ton drw would be rated for at least another 5k lbs
if your trailer excels on MTO hyw scales weighs over 10,000 Lbs you better have a drivers License for Driving transport trucks in Canada that's a class A drivers license, F450 is a 3 ton truck the F550 is a 5 ton truck, 2 years ago my 5 ton was licensed for 13000 lbs total I got pulled into the scales and was over my 13000, I got a fine and had to leave the 8000 Lb trailer at the scales until I went to the license office and uped the license on the truck to 33000 Lbs (15,000 KG) the trailer put me well over weight, new plates cost me 480.00# for 6 months
You should do a video on how you load your truck up for us trailer Newbs
Amazing how many people on here think they know all about a CDL's and weight limits.
If you're going interstate with more than 10,001lbs you also need a usdot number
You only need a CDL if its for commercial use other wise its just a Class A license not a full CDL
Tandem dual

I love it
2014? What do you haul? Styrofoam?
early squad
need a cdl A and current med card to run that trailer. Can easily overload those non E range lo pro tires on your truck. Nice trailer tho and stained deck looks nice
Derrick Moyer you literally dont know shit
Tiger Strike exactly
Are you considered a "hotshot driver"? Great videos by the way.
He transports his Race truck on that trailer. i highly doubt he hotshots.
Blackout_o3o thanks man. I'm new to his channel. What does he do? I'm a diesel lover also.
I have no idea what he does for a living. I don't think he has said much or anything about it. I love diesels also and am looking to buying one soon. :)

i like it sr .
hi there I likeitsr.
My suggestion to all hot shot truckers don't buy a new truck by an old 90s truck and run papper logs and I also think it's way better to buy a gas powered old truck considering gas is way cheaper nearly a dollar cheaper
