- It’s easy to go through life dwelling on your past mistakes. But if you want God to listen, you have to approach Him with the language of faith. God doesn’t listen when you tell Him you don’t deserve to be blessed. He’s already forgiven you. Accept His mercy today for any mistake you’ve made.

The problem in Osteen’s message is his promotion of name-it-claim-it or word-faith theology: “We have to conceive it on the inside before we’re ever going to receive it on the outside,” Osteen writes. “If you don’t think you can have something good, then you never will. The barrier is in your mind. . . . Your own wrong thinking can keep you from God’s best. . . . To experience [God’s] immeasurable favor, you must rid yourself of that small-minded thinking and start expecting God’s blessings, start anticipating promotion and supernatural increase. You must conceive it in your heart before you can receive it. In other words, you must make increase in your own thinking, then God will bring those things to pass” (from Your Best Life Now, chapter 1). There is nothing biblical about such teaching. There is no power inherent in positive thinking, and we do not create our own realities. God is not our servant, standing by and waiting for us to fire up our imaginations so He can lavish us with material goods. Jesus told His followers to “give up everything you have” (Luke 14:33), not to seek to get more.
More often than not, Osteen sounds like an inspirational life-coach, instead of a herald of the gospel. He often preaches about how people can improve their lives, be prosperous, and experience happiness. Noticeably absent in Osteen’s optimistic message is any mention of sin or repentance. The atonement of Christ provides us with healing and the abundant life, according to Osteen, but apparently receiving forgiveness from a holy God is not necessary.

Yes I agree I had a client of mine had to come over to my house one time and I had Joel on the TV she was getting some stuff from me the volume was low in the background ( She is a buddhist ) we had a nice conversation about Christianity I guarantee it that would not have happened at any church I know. I don’t talk to her now but you never know what will happen in her life. I always think about how Joel Osteen can help people to turn an ear towards Gods ways. I’m so very thankful for Joel 🤍🤍🤍

Your conscience (the little voice in your head) might be condemning or berating you from time to time, but you must put it all behind you, gather yourself, try to wash yourself clean with self-forgiveness or self-acceptance, AND THEN MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE AND WALK IN FELLOWSHIP WITH THE LORD. Life is too short to keep accusing yourself with your mistakes. In the spring of 2015 this veteran Christian me, was down on myself for mistakes and bad decisions. I was so depressed I even attempted suicide in the hospital. Then I had a stoke. Wound up in a nursing home unable to stand up on my own. I listened to Joel and others daily. I walked out if there 16 months later the most joyful, happy, person I e ever been. I changed my mindset to knowing I am righteous because of what Jesus did. My past is under His blood. The joy of the Lord is my strength.

Amen I blame myself everyday for the mistakes I have made. I had kids without being married and etc. I’m always negative about everything in my life. But I know since I don’t have a supportive family. God has always blessed me . My daughter passed away, and my family prayed for me. Guess what I’m here I don’t do drugs or drink alcohol. I am blessed! But I’m not where I want to be at this time. I’m getting older and I feel like I will always receive assistance, and I have a college degree going for my bachelors degree in health care management. I need to turn my mind around . I used to be that way too. Then I heard God say to my spirit one day "So you think that my Son's Blood is not Powerful enough to cleanse your sin? You are more powerful than God?" that woke me up quick. Then I heard Him say to my spirit "You're guilty of stealing." I said "What? How?", & He said "Because my Son paid the price for all of your sins, the guilt, & the shame in full & you won't let go of it. Therefore you're illegally in possession of something that belongs to me.". WOW! God really knows how to get through to us in a way that we can understand! Hopefully my experience will help you as well. We can't earn Salvation or God's Grace. It's a free gift that's not based on what we've done or who we are, but SOLELY on God's Goodness & Mercy through Jesus' Sacrifice. At aged forty one I do even greater things with out schizophrenia but Arthritis in both knees and had surgery on my Achilles twice. Anything is possible with God.he showed me the vision! Than k you pastor Osteen. I neede to hear your sermon today. I was doing everything you said. I never thought it was the accused putting all these negative thoughts in my mind. I thought i was unworthy, that all my sins are unforgiving. I've been going through a lot. My health, financial issues and i made myself believe that i deserved all the pain and all the bads that comes my way. After listening to you i feel the healing from God is on its way. That I'm forging, worthy, and bless. Thank you for reminding me that our God is great and powerful. With him on my side all is possible in the name of your beloved son Jesus. Thank you Lord!
God does not 'answer my prayers' because I do not pray to him. I've realised that in life we don't really know what is best for us and I trust him to know this for me - and he does: I have total fulfilment and contentment in my life and I do not suffer from any fears, anxieties or depression. I follow the Guidelines of Problacism. If I did pray, however, my prayer would be St Ignatius's prayer: Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as you deserve, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labour and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do your will. Amen.
