This one was fun to research and make. I decided to make the song a bit irregular and scratchy on purpose. I mean...it is a demon possessed 'Mech that roams the stars for new haunts, after all...
dude this is badass. I love battletech due to the irregularity of aliens and strange happenings. necromos and the black marauder are things that strike true terror into humanity regardless of how badass a pilot is. the unknown and the very VERY rare instance you come across the supernatural it becomes a situation that nobody believes until they seea lance of dead mechs with no eney casualties. the black marauder is one of my favorites and i made a night star varient on mwo as my own version of a hunter killer. 95 ton mech that can literally walk up on someone with 4 rot 2's just lighting people up. i have killed 7 mechs as a personal best, all the while the enemy line is collapsing as they dont know whats wiping out sections at a time. mech warrior is badass. and good shit on the song man!
1. Print out the most IlClan Cheese Marauder you can conceive of 2. Give it 1-1 stats 3. Obtain a couple of friends 4. Put this on 5. Halloween Boss Fight! You might need some rules to let the Dark One act multiple times a round, but still.
When I did that I had a mechanic where the Dark One would switch between a 3R Marauder and a Marauder II depending on if it was in Smoke or not. I also gave it a Bite attack and Talons, and any melee damage the Dark One healed half the damage dealt in melee.
The interesting thing here is that I don't think the Black Marauder lets go of all of it pilots truly. I think it does sort of what the Flood does from Halo does with the collective intelligence. Each pilot is still in the machine. The pilots that experimented with the neural helmet's woke something up, and whatever that is, it's keeping them trapped along with all their knowledge. Every pilot it has ever had. Even the ones in the future and in the past, something beyond the concept of time. "You sucked my brain out, mixed it with mush, and put it back in expecting it to be me! I'm not me! I wanna be me!" The interesting thing is that the Black Marauder seems to be in control of whether or not it drives it pilot to complete insanity. Almost like it... Likes certain ones in particular, showing a degree of.... intelligence. I think the more pilots the beast collects, the better it gets at manipulating it's shell and the more supernatural it appears. When it got Langstrom, it finally got a grip on reality that made a human pilot no longer completely necessary. This.... Marauder is simply a vessel for a Eldritch god to communicate through and interact with a reality they otherwise would not have any form of contact with, and with each pilot its connection with this reality grows stronger.
The only true ai mech in battletech just don't ask about the grease or lube tho I listened to the story about this mech a few years ago & man battletech can get Lovecraft when it wants too
Considering at least one survivor said the mech smiled at him with a mouth it shouldn't have...yeah, total creep fest. Got to add it into a game for my players!
I think there's another Ai controlled Mech in BattleTech Called Lucky7 or something like that but it's different from the Black Muarader the Ai is benevolent and kind and I think it was installed a Charger but I could be wrong
@@Arvyn992yeah until pilot die and got capture,a lot electronic gremlin and pilot dieing and somehow jump from leopard but more ohhhh more staff fell off truck think then mech jumping ...
This is what happens when you combine 2 different pilot enhancers one of which ends up being further developed and used by the clans, they ended up punching a hole into something and brought something eldritch into their reality
This is my favourite take on what makes the Dark One special. It's neither a normal mech piloted by a madman or a mech possessed by a literal demon. But the experiments done with Dark One's technology did contact SOMETHING. More than that, it let something through from a different plane of reality. And that something seems to wish for nothing but the opportunity to wreak destruction, misery and fear. I think above all the worst part us simply that....what if this isn't a one off? Logic dictates this thing must have fellows and what if it wasn't the only one of its kind to slip through the breach?
@@cavemandelta i guess on the bright side, it's only REALLY such a terror because it hasn't garnered enough attention from the bigger players. Those it hunts tend to be the kind of weaker groups that stick by the Periphery. Even if a whole legion of possessed mechs appeared a single Great Houses would probably be enough to take them down. Because I doubt they can scare their way out of having the sun dropped on them.
