I’ve been watching all your Nikon videos! Thank you for making them! As I’m starting a small collection and have falling in love with Nikon vintage cameras! 🙏🏽🎞️
I bought a F2 in Japan in the 70's and it was my workhorse until the 90's when I sold it for something lighter. Know I'm retired and wanted to get back into photography. Bought a Panasonic G-85 and had to go online for the manual. The beginner manual was 600 pages, plus there was an advanced manual. I recently found my old manual for my F2 it had 12 pages for a professional camera. I acquired a Nikon FM and a FE both died within a year. I wanted to go back to a pro grade camera and started to research the different F2 models. I decided on the F2AS but there were a couple of issues the F2AS is about a $100 more then the F2 but takes modern batteries. The other issue was the metered prisms are failing due to age. A replacement prism cost as much as the camera. Of course the camera will work fine without a working meter but the value of the camera drops by half. I ended up getting a F3 which cost less then the F2AS. If I find a F2 with a non-metered eye-level prism for a good price I'll jump on it.
How much did you pay for the F3? They have always been quite pricy. I have mine (F2) inherited from my grandfather, I love so much this camera I went and got my sister one from ebay for 70€, it even included the photomic dp1(and is working better than mine), that was about 5 years ago or so. But last time I checked the prices they were super high like 300€ and stuff like that for a F2
I already earned my IT degree before purchasing F2A & FE2 (still working fine) in the late seventies, hence digital is a piece of cake and we don't read manuals anyway.
The Nikon F2 main competitor, the Canon F-1 never seen fame like the Nikon F2 but it is another similar rugged build camera with interchangeable prisms and 1/2000th speed titanium shutter.
I also like the Canon F1, and will do a review of it as soon as I get mine back. A friend borrowed it to use in Australia, I hope he doesn't forget to return it.
@@japanvintagecamera8869 i used the old F-1 for quite some time until i had some neck problem ... it‘s weight must be around a ton if i remember correctly
The talk going around when the Canon F1 came out was that Canon stole Nikon's designer and that this first Canon professional SLR was based on Nikon's thinking for their new camera to replace the original Nikon F. Canon certainly stole the name designated for Nikon's new camera - the F1.
Open camera back, flip mirror up, with thumb and index vinger carefully grab shutter curtain. Pull it to advance... and then let it go. Don't be startled what happens. The mirror might hit your finger. That is normal! Advance and release the shutter and you're good to go. Good luck!
Nikon of course will not say what the correct pronunciation of Nikon Americans say Nighkon. Interesting as the letter ' i ' is in lower caseon the camera and not in upper case ' I ' Therefore in English it is pronounced Nickon Not Nighkon But then Americans do not speak english , but American.
@@japanvintagecamera8869 A persons individual first name or ' Christian ' name will have upper case first letter and then lower case. Why is i in English capitalized? His store is still open with a nice selection of vintage cameras. I just ordered a sweet Yashica Electro 35 for my collection.

I have the Photomic chrome version of this which I bought in 2015 for Php. 8,000. Works great.
Still rocking with Ektar 100 and Portra 400.
Perfect review. Thanks so much.
Appreciate your videos. I’d love seeing you talk about the Canon EF

I love my F2s
Love my f2sb, need to change the mirror bumper. Mirror was sticking and I found the bumper was rotting apart.
Title needs a fix, but keep up the great content!
You forgot about the abilety to make long exposers from 2 to 10 sekons (sorry for bad englisch)
MD-3 is not a replacement of MD-2, MD-3 is a less powerful and lower end version without rewind function + slower.
Thanks for the videos on the Nikon F2. What is the difference between the F2A and F2S? Thanks in advance.
Are there corrective lens diopters for the eyecup of these DP-2 finders?
yes
i got one of these NIKON F2 Camera and i got it for £10.00 and it came with the MOTOR DRIVE and i need to get it fixed
Can the DP1 meter stopped down on non rabbit ear lenses?
I thought it was: "easy peasy Japaneasy"
I have a Nikon F2 but prefer my Nikon FE
Because of the weight?
How are you in Japan pronouncing Nikon Ny-kon?
He’s not Japanese.
My F2 shutter is stuck

I have a friend name Nigel, who, coincidentally, is British, I suppose now I shall have to pronounce his name differently...
