Blur - ‘This Is A Low’. Britpop wasn’t all about knees-ups and ‘cor blimey, missus’ type stuff. This plaintive song from ‘Parklife’ is Blur’s most beautifully hopeful track. The shipping forecast has never sounded so loaded.
There's not many know that's what it's based around including the writer of lyrics as it's Cromarty not Cramerty. As a personal point though you most definitely can't see Blackpool from the Malin Head.Do I feel solo or so low?!
Exactly! Writer has Cramity instead of Cromarty, and Tyne forth as if it's one place, instead of separate areas, Tyne and Forth. Also thought it was 'so low' not 'solo' - need to check the album.
@@janmcintyre8595 It might be a pun on both. The person who transliterated the lyrics obviously has a different dialect of English than the singer, one in which the post-vocalic R is preserved. I would definitely say "Crom-ar-ty" and not "Crom-ah-ty" like most speakers of British English, but I'm Canadian.
such an underrated song!!
Damon Albarn is a genius
