I think it’s neat that even though you clearly aren’t a fan of the genre, you immediately noted how innovative the bubble wand as a double jump was (even if you hadn’t discovered how to fully exploit it yet)
34:17 well that's a pretty unsettling sound. Which I suppose is probably the point, so... well done by the developer I guess?
37:44 somehow dying and switching between screen at the same moment made you survive at zero hp, interesting glitch.
I'm pretty sure since the door is open, you could have accessed the "no answer" telephone without pissing off the cat ghost, which would have let you save right next to the boss fight.
Been following this since Big Mode first announced it, going to play it myself before watching this but looking forward to it!
Oh no, I was cringing for you the whole time you were trying to explore the level itself while being haunted... That must have been stressful as hell
I’m usually not a fan of pixel art games, but this game looks beautiful!
I really likes the idea of rainworld, then I tried it and found that I don't enjoy playing it at all. Sounds a bit like this too will go into the pile of wonderful games I don't need to buy for myself.
for what it's worth, as someone who *really* wanted to like Rain World but sadly didn't, I was afraid I'd bounce off of this one too but it really clicked with me!
Similar vibes without the frustration, no written tutorial but never too obscure, puzzles that are satisfying to figure out, a pinch of danger here and there but contained enough that it doesn't feel oppressive, death doesn't reset your progress (opened chests / unlocked doors) so not that punishing
overall mysterious and not too easy but still accessible, it's impressively polished and balanced
very mild "quality of life mechanics" spoiler for anyone curious:

you eventually unlock stamps and even a pencil tool for your map to make backtracking easier
Like for no pre-research. The blind fumbling makes for the grandest adventures!
if you keep playing pls go for the 100% ending
at 37:45 you die and somehow prevent the death from completing, you were at 0hp and then proceeded to eat a fruit which put you back into a normal game state. Was curious what'd happen being at an hp value that you arent normally meant to be at but you didnt even seem to notice lol
I bought this game yesterday and it's a ton of fun.
You can chain bubble jumps if timed correctly.
extremely quiet game audio...
I've been looking so long for a worthy sucessor to Knytt. I think this might be it.
I really liked knytt stories for how customizable it was. It was like mario maker before mario maker. It doesn't look like animal well is built with modding in mind.
23:00 place the bubble i n the middle while you are at the bottom, then use the staircase to race it up so you can jump across using the bubble.
Is the game audio supposed to be gone?
Im on my phone and cant hear the game audio at all, i can hear wander perfectly fine tho
Seems even my ps5 is the exact same way so rip audio I guess
It's just a quiet game.
@@wanderbotsnah, the audio mixing is bad, plenty of other videos out there with the game being much louder
Yeah, there's no game audio for the first 22 minutes for me. Past that is fine.
Damn the bubble mechanic is tough! Those jumps are hard to make
Are they? I found very quickly that just clicking jump and use at the same time with the buble wand lets you climb without platforms.
Oh yeah this game is pretty fun
This game could probably be great fun to play every once in a while
I heard it’s like Halo 2 meets Halo 3
Are you guys talking about Animal Well?
Where did this joke originate from?
@@lilyabrams3547From videogame dunkey's video called "The promo campaign for animal well"
From the hit series halo

I heard the game has very good story... or something good enough to warrant not spoiling it. Haven't played it myself, but the puzzles look interesting, if a bit "I expect this very specific solution" kind of puzzle. The unlit candle + explosive firecrackers comes to mind.
the candles and firecrackers do not interact
Is it just me or does the audio not work until around 22 mins in?
Beforehand only Wander can be heard
wander is notorious for very low game audio
There is something so cave story about this
I'm sorry but I laughed so hard at 43:28.
Maybe take a look at Moonlight Pulse? It looks like another interesting Metroidvania.
It’s rubbish
The only thing I will say is this is a bit like Noita.
Every bit of knowledge you get, will lead to new discoveries.
This clearly isn’t better than knack 2
Watching two different people play this game in one day is a TRIP, one person going this game is gonna be my whole personality (affectionate) and another going this game is a problem (derogatory) is so funny and I love it lol you both agree its a skill issue and for one of you that's was an invitation.
You can tell the developer was a masive fan of hallo 2 and 3
the moment it's unsure if you haven't saved after completing the heron section was truly harrowing holy
seen Olenky do the bubble hop mechanic by spawning a new one immediately after jumping, creating an infinite staircase of bubble hopping, man is a genius sometimes.
Why did you you always pickup the disc or not see the prompt for returning it?
I figured it was something you just had to do, like the chase segments in Metroid Dread.
@@wanderbotsJust FYI, there is a fake disc a little further in the path after that place where you got that disc. You are supposed to do a swap. Technically you can let that ghost follow you and get the fake disc and return to put the fake disc to stop the ghost but I can't even imagine being able to do that.
Honestly by letting that ghost follow you, you made it very interesting but also very difficult. Some people who love difficulty might even try that now.
