    @1:59 You're thinking of "Veikkaus". "Varkaus" on the other hand translates to "Theft".
    @3:24 The exit numbers are just ordinal numbers starting from the beginning of the specific road, not distances from anywhere.
    @18:12 No the water tower is slightly further north down that road. Didn't seem to be marked on the map.

    When there are 2 stations next to each other the price is usually higher since they tend to be on high traffic areas(high demand means high price).

    Varkaus - theft. You were probably thinking of Veikkaus with the betting thing.

      Veikkaus - Varkaus, Betting - theft, I mean at least the way I bet for the Premier League every week - and never win anything, it seems to be pretty much the same thing. 😀

    That thing on the Jämsä roundabout is a old paper machine roller as Jämsä has a lot of paper industry. One thing about gas prices is that many times neighboring gas stations sell something like 1 cent lover than the rival and i seen even some teboil stations have cct looking for rivals gas prices.

    No. Exit numbers don't have anything to do with kilometers. Those are just increasing 1 per exit usually from south to North. Or where ever road starts... But there can be what ever distance between those.

    I use mostly Neste stations. They are often the cheapest here. Teboil might be cheaper but they sell Russian fuels.
    Exit numbers are consecutive numbers and not based on distance.

      @@Finnspeed Teboil buys from Neste and other western companies but the fuel sales is fully Russian owned. In that way it's Russian but origin of the oil is not. Teboil has been quite pro Russia or Russian pleasing in their communication.

    • @Finnspeed
      @Finnspeed 17 днів тому

      @@MarkusHaapala yes i know but you said they sell russian fuel which isn't the case. Anyway i haven't nor will i fill my car up at teboil, theres definitely something fishy about them. Of course it has nothing to do with the people running the stations since they are just running a business, just under the teboil brand.

    • @TopiasSalakka
      @TopiasSalakka 15 днів тому

      Teboil gets their fuels from Neste, and i doubt Neste wants to ruin their reputation by selling Russian-sourced fuels.
      Manned service stations are independently owned by Finnish entrepreneurs and practically nothing goes to Russia from their profits.
      But, personally i just fuel up where it's cheapest, usually it's the Neste near me, sometimes it's SEO.

    Nice game for a friday evening. When there are prices beginning with number 2, the footage must be from 2022 when the prices skyrocketed after the war in Ukraine began. The prices have gone lower since then. You asked about the exit numbers on big roads. They have nothing to do with the distance, but are just rising numbers of intersections from nearest city or where the road begins. The same system is used in many European countries.

    • @alloverthemap23
      @alloverthemap23  16 днів тому +1

      I figured - I forgot to clarify: the numbering of exits is by state. So if on I-70 in Kansas, it can go from exit 1 to exit 300 (miles in that state) and resets once into Colorado or another state

    Well, that round 5 was quite nostalgic. That station used to be about 500m from where I grew up. Remember going there one time for something (probably some candy and play some video games) - when it was -50C outside. And we walked. I was maybe 5 years old or so. And back then it was an Esso station.

    Neste is one of the biggest companies in Finland. Fords have been available in Finland since 1926. Here are some old car pictures from Finland: "Autoliiton historia osa 1/5, Käynnistysvaikeuksia", "Autoliiton historia osa 2/5, Starttivaihe" and "Autoliiton historia osa 3/5, Kierrokset nousee". All the best with your Finnish studies. Alphabets are a good way to start: "Learn Finnish! Lesson 1: The alphabet - Aakkoset". There's a TV series 'Finland is American' running on the Finnish TV at the moment about how American Finland is and the history of it, so American things in Finland is a topical subject. Toyotas have been in Finland since 1964. Since then they have been most popular car brand in Finland in many years. Also, the Toyota's WRC team is based in Jyväskylä: "Toyota WRC on the path to comeback - Building a team from scratch". Rallying is quite a big thing in Finland: "WRC Rally Funny interviews with Finnish drivers", "In Finland We Have This Thing Called... Rallienglanti" and "How to pronounce words in Finnish accent?". Used German cars like Audis and BMWs are popular among the Finnish youth.
    According to the news, Americans' interest towards Finland, also a travel destination, has risen since Finland's NATO membership. Apparently one sight to see is; anywhere near the Russian border. Here's a rural trip, which takes also to that border: "Exploring FINLAND On Motorcycle - From Helsinki to Hetta using only small roads (TET) 2020". Here's one significant Finnish band to come from Joensuu. The key members later formed Sielun Veljet: "Hassisen kone - Rappiolla", "Sielun veljet (L'amourder) - I Have a Dream [live Moscow 1987]", "Rob & Kirk's Doodle: Rappiolla (Helsinki, Finland - May 11, 2018)" and "Ismo Alanko - Rappiolla ( Metallica : Enter Sandman intro)". Regarding the riff on 'Enter Sandman': "Stone - Get Stoned - HQ MUSIC VIDEO".
    Nordic skiing and ski jumping WC event takes place in Ruka, Kuusamo: "Discovering Lapland: Winter magic in Ruka - Kuusamo" and "Jessie Diggins holds off Sundling in final event at Ruka | FIS Cross Country World Cup 24-25".

    Currently prices are between 1,60 (cheapest I have refueled myself this fall) and 2,00 euros. There is lot variation between days... But I think typical is 1.70-180 in south Finland. In north it is more expensive. And if there is more gas stations near each other it is usually lowering the price as there is more competition. 1,20 that was in gas station in Lieksa must be like 20 years old picture. I remember around 2000 there being 1 euro prices and couple of years after 1.10-1.20 was the new lowest prices.

    Pro tip for pronounciation: always think KUOpio, never kuoPIO. If you put the emphasis on the first syllable of every word 100% of the time with Finnish, you will be correct 99% of the time 😊

    You seem to be having issues with pronouncing the letter Ä.
    It's pronounced like the A in the word "cat".
    Ö is harder to explain, the sound is found in some pronounciations of the word "bird".
