My ancestral home in Ladnun, district Nagaur, Rajasthan is built using the same materials and techniques. Its not a very good looking house but is strong even after 300 years. The walls are 2 ft thick and made of the local stone and the roof is made of strips of stone. All the plaster is of limestone. All the old 'havelis' of the entire region are made of the same materials and techniques and are at least a 100 years old. Every house has a rain water harvesting system. During covid, for the 1st time in my life I lived in my ancestral home for 8 months at a stretch and learned valuable lessons of survival in extreme temperatures, water conservation, eco friendly and sustainable options of living. The design and architecture of the houses there need to be studied and implemented today in order to build more sustainable and eco friendly houses.

I am also an architecture student and can help you in this regard using vernacular (local) materials but it depends on the location of the site whether limestone can be used or not considering the seismic zone of site
Problem is when you live in an area where the cost of traditional construction is very house. In Himachal, the cost of traditional kaath koni house is extremely expensive compared to the cement houses. Also it uses wood, a lot, which again may not be environmentally sound

Your house is an inspiration to everyone. I wish I have enough funds one day to build a house fir my mother and make it a sustainable house giving back to nature. I wish to consult you that day when I decide to build a house. I really want to visit your place and learn. Your house is beautiful inside out.

My ancestral home in Ladnun, district Nagaur, Rajasthan is built using the same materials and techniques. Its not a very good looking house but is strong even after 300 years. The walls are 2 ft thick and made of the local stone and the roof is made of strips of stone. All the plaster is of limestone. All the old 'havelis' of the entire region are made of the same materials and techniques and are at least a 100 years old. Every house has a rain water harvesting system. During covid, for the 1st time in my life I lived in my ancestral home for 8 months at a stretch and learned valuable lessons of survival in extreme temperatures, water conservation, eco friendly and sustainable options of living. The design and architecture of the houses there need to be studied and implemented today in order to build more sustainable and eco friendly houses.

Ashishji , great effort. I need a planning & architectural modern design with all facilities like this for a 3 Stair Building made use of Lime stone in 2400 sft.(40x60).
I am also an architecture student and can help you in this regard using vernacular (local) materials but it depends on the location of the site whether limestone can be used or not considering the seismic zone of site

Problem is when you live in an area where the cost of traditional construction is very house. In Himachal, the cost of traditional kaath koni house is extremely expensive compared to the cement houses. Also it uses wood, a lot, which again may not be environmentally sound
