So well written. A great synopsis and history of the song and it's creation. In the movie, Elroy (Crazylegs) Hirsch plays the role of the prisoner longing for his wife. He's in a minimum security prison where he could pretty much just leave if he wanted. Thus, the title "Unchained" and the tension in the plot as to whether he should leave or stay. When Todd Duncan sings the song in the movie, he's in a room (cell) with Hirsch and several other inmates. The rendition is quite different than the later to be famous Righteous Brothers performance. Duncan was a powerful singer. He was one of the rare black opera singers back in the day. He also sang in the theater... I didn't get to see the movie. Mom wouldn't take me to see a prison movie. Crazylegs Hirsch was an All Pro NFL Football player. He played for the LA Rams. They had cool helmets, so I was a big fan and wanted to see the movie. I listened to the song for years before the Righteous Brothers eventually covered it. It was a great 'singing in the shower' song... Angelina's 9 year old performance was my introduction to Angelina and the beginning of my trip down the "rabbit hole". I loved the song. So, when it popped up on UA-cam with Angelina, I tuned in... Now all these years later she does the Nobel Peace Prize performance... Unimaginable. 👣👣💕

She opened his 85th Birthday Celebration with his rendition of "Fly Me To The Moon". He wrote it for Frank Sinatra. She was breathtaking... At 17, she's still not fully matured as a vocalist. But, she's still the best I've heard in my 79 years... Perhaps sometimes her diction isn't perfect. She's a jazz singer. She grew up listening to Billie Holiday. She manipulates words, sounds and tones to convey the emotions of the music. She was even humming at one point in the song. When she sang this song at Portsmouth, there wasn't a dry eye in the Music Hall. This rendition was softer and more delicate. Here, she is singing for a mother who is sitting in an Iranian prison facing a 31 year sentence and 154 lashes. Her children are right there with Angelina. They haven't seen her in 9 years... This song was wrtten for the 1955 movie "Unchained". It's about a prisoner longing to be with his wife and family... This wasn't about a movie. This was sung as a tribute to a real life tragedy. And, there's no artist alive who could have better presented this story than Angelina. When it comes to music, she's the ultimate story teller. Angelina's Grandma is Iranian so this is really personal to her whole family... Both renditions you presented were beautiful. And, wonderfully performed. It's just that Angelena is a once in a lifetime artist.

I have voiced to other reactors that comparisons are not advised. It is not a singing competition. Also I have seen it create animosity and divisiveness with viewers. Going forward I will not watch any comparison videos. They are not fair to the artists and hurt your channel. Happy New Year.
Being a biased Angelina fan I have seen other reactors made comparisons before. Nothing good ever seems to come out of it
Hadn't heard Vanny before. Vanny has a higher upper-end than Angelina, but Angelina has the greater range which you can feel. Note, Vanny's rendition is studio based while Angelina did it in front of a full orchestra. Angelina even changed the tone for this performance and her other recent version of this has more power. She shows flexibility in how she covers songs. Both were interesting versions, but I'd give it to Angelina.
I would never try to make comparisons. Each artist has their own tone and style. Of course, I am an Angelina fan, and Vanny does have a beautiful voice, but in my opinion nowhere near the emotion evoked by Angelina. One additional thing to note: Angelina sang live in front of an audience and cameras (worldwide), whereas Vanny's rendition was most probably studio produced---Big, big difference.
Not that Vanny couldn't also perform this live with success. But Angelina's performance of this iconic song ranks as #1 ever by me.

Many singers have performed this iconic song since it's 1955 debut in the movie "Unchained". And some are Outstanding. I put Vanny's performance with that group. Her voice is absolutely wonderful. But Angelina's performance here is the best I have ever heard. Not only is it vocally Fantastic! But it is also the most passionate and emotional version ever (IMO). And it is Live, with no filters or autotune. Absolutely STUNNING!!

Please, please, please do not do comparisons. It is unfair to both singers, and it is highly subjective. The reactor does a disservice not only to the singers, but to the viewers as well. Point out the qualities and the differences in technique if you want, but don't make comparisons. Even vocal coaches will not always agree.
😅if you look at the abilities of both of them are Angelina has had a unique voice since childhood and has above average sound waves, she just needs better breathing control, only here in my opinion both of them have above average technique. Vanny's only advantage over Angelina is that she has a change in shape technique. the song is even more interesting.

Vanny sings it very nice but thats it shes singing it . Angelina however sung if felt it conveyed it killed it. Vannys version did not envoke anything but appreciation of her pretty voice. Angelina made me cry. Hands down better version. My opinion of course so ......
