The Kapara caught me totally off guard with how EXCELLENT it is for EDC. Wow, It dominates my pocket time. Such a joy to have in the hand. I get so many complements on it, when I allow people to use it. I love it.
Classy Spyderco, I agree it is an instant classic. Smooth carbon fiber and that sporty red back spacer is so sweet. Now I am seriously considering taking mine apart for that droppy action! Glad you love yours.
Lots of cities have a 3" limit here. Mine is one of them, but only for downtown. Our laws here are very arbitrary and vary greatly from state to state and city to city. But I'm afraid if they standardized it for the whole country, we wouldn't like what they came up with.
The Kapara is one great knife. Thanks for the great review. I agree with all you have said. The feel of this knife is wonderful. I think you have to hold this knife to understand how good it is. I love the look and the ergonomics. It fits the hand so well. Good slicer. Lightweight. You are right that it fits better in the pocket than the PM2. Also looking forward to a future steel upgrade, although I am happy with S30V. Mine drops shut without any cleaning or lube. Thanks again.
I finally got one from White Mountain Knives using the SDWMK 10% off discount! Man what a knife. Spot on review. Mine is drop shut right out of the box. What a slicer. Thanks for the discount code. White Mountain Knives is great to deal with and shipping is super fast.
Great review. I always enjoy your reviews. The Kapara never interested me that much. I got one because Alistair was able to organise a group buy for us aussies (I wanted to support an Aussie knifemaker) and we actually got them a couple of weeks before they were available in the U.S. Really awesome of Alistair for organising it and Spyderco for allowing them to be send to us early. My preferred edc size is 3” blade, 4” closed but the Kapara carries so slim and easy in the pocket. The blade shape is perfection for me, so slicey.
Was not on my radar, but I bought one because of all the great reviews. LOVE it! You and Stassa inspired me to take mine apart, buff washers on stropblock, relube and adjust pivot. Still NOT drop-shutty. 😢 I am waiting on The Drunken, next......😎
Great review Brian. The Kapara is easily in my top 5 EDC. Great knife and the quality is top end. It beats out the PM2 for me just because of ergonomics. I really hope the popularity of this knife warrants a Sprint. LC200N and G10 would be fantastic.
@FlamQ Dbltap I agree but that blade is too large for me even though it is cool as can be....If they don't make a mini then I am just empty handed and ok with that....Nice knife though....thanks for the input....
For those of you that have opened yours up, what were your liners like? For some reason my liners were like crazy bent from factory. Anyone have any clue as to why? never noticed it on a knife before. Mine also isn't very smooth; I was thinking the bent liners could be why.
Hey man - just watched this video and the one of your massdrop dao. I absolutely love the look of both, but don't think I can stretch myself to buying both. Which do you think you'd choose if you could have one? Great vids by the way.
I've got to get my hands on one of these! Looks like such a good carry knife, and thank goodness it's actual carbon fiber and not that peel ply junk. I think I would want some jimping, I know it was made for food prep but let's be real, it will probably be used for normal EDC purposes with the occasional food cutting task, so jimping wouldn't have hurt.
A very good review as per usual! I don't always agree with you (even if I do this time, just finished a written review of this one myself) but I respect your opinion! 🙂👍
Looks like a winner to me, and it’s one of the knives on my want list for this year. I don’t understand the steel choice though, if it’s intended purpose is a food prep knife, why not go with Lc200N? Spyderco must be getting S30V at a good price, because they produce a lot of knives in that steel.
Based on your basic reviews, if you do a battle to the death with the 0470, I'm pretty sure the Kapara will win. And in most every category. The only real thing will be by how much. Great review. And I think this is just about the only Spyderco that I think isn't butt ugly.
@@SliceyDicey Eric said in Blade HQ's Shot Show video it was going to be released the next week , nope , didn't happen. Smock got one , but that's it , one.

Hopefully it gets enough sales, that they can make a run in LC200N.
I hope so, but the Taichung stuff rarely gets sprints.
Hopefully it will be in stock somewhere again soon so I can buy one. I can't find it anywhere.
Come on kapara mini!
From your lips to Spyderco's ears!!! A 3" Kapara would be... DROOOOOOOOOL...
@@SliceyDicey I was thinking more like 3.25"
That'd do... Was just thinking 3" for legality's sake.
@@SliceyDicey I keep thinking that under 3" is UK legal but not if it has a lock. Are there US states that have 3" laws?

Hey, brother. Just watching some old videos, hoping that some day there will be new videos. Hope you and your family are happy and healthy.

GPKNIVES or micarta!
Nice knife as I will be on board for a mini version....Good stuff....

I have one coming in 20CV right now. Would love to see LC200N or even better, Vanax 37.
Thanks for the review much appreciated
Here in 2024,nice review Slicey👍
Excited to get this Kapara! Nice look!

Could be. Mine were straight.
Mine were straight, maybe send it back if possible?
I agree it's as good and as attractive as you describe. It's a pleasure to own.

Probably the Kapara.
@@SliceyDicey thanks man!

Love the blade shape and carbon fiber pattern. But I'm waiting until Blade HQ gets them back in stock. Great review
Great review of a fantastic knife! Gonna have to lube mine up now😀 I want that drop shutty ness
0470 vs Kapara battle to the death??? Yes please! 😉
Mine is much stiffer...than yours. Maybe I need to clean it up. I really like that drop shut action.
Exact same price as Benchmade 940. Battle to the death!
Not the same as the carbon fiber 940 though.

I thought so too (other than the Para 3) until I saw it in person.
I really like the carbon fiber and the wire clip.
I would have already ordered one if they were in stock anywhere
Who gives a thumbs down before the video even has time to play through???
It was the anti Para guy lol
Which one? lol
You got hater bots
I wonder if maybe people accidentally hit thumbs down instead of up on phones.
Anti-knife carry legislators
I think Kapara is better than both Paramilitary 2 and Caly 3.5. Yep, that good.
Do you have a bugout
Yep. Love it.
I tried my friends but I'm holding out for the unattainable Smock , just hope it doesn't suck.
If it does... There will be absolute hell to pay!
@@SliceyDicey Eric said in Blade HQ's Shot Show video it was going to be released the next week , nope , didn't happen. Smock got one , but that's it , one.
Very nice!
Blade shape is similar to stretch.
Could you do a video of 25 knifes under 50$$
25??? At least you're not asking for much.
Heck.....I can’t get my Shaman to free drop.
I'll trade you this for a one of a kind PM2, black dlc blade and blue digi camo scales.
No thanks. Happy with my Pm2
@@SliceyDicey I wasn't being serious but thanks for the reply :D
HA! I was on my phone and didn't look at the username or I would have known it was a joke.
Holy early batman
Dlt trading has them in stock
I just might like it better than the Spydiechef....
Or as many as you want
