Great video. The Smock has grown on me too. One point to make is that the double detent serves a purpose and is NOT for legality reasons, and I don’t think they meant for it to be removed. The second detent is meant to keep the blade from bouncing out when dropping shut, like the PM2 is prone to. I think it is an excellent design consideration. None of these knives, including Axis Lock BM knives, were meant to be flicked out while holding the button. People may think it’s fun if they are more about fidget than use, but that deployment is the main reason people are breaking the omega springs on their axis locks. Obviously that’s not an issue for this knife, but for me, the secure close without bounce-out is much more functionally important than pretending I have an auto and swinging the blade out from closed. It shoots out very well using the intended deployment methods with the hole or flipper. Sometimes incorrect info gets promulgated from reviewer to reviewer, so hopefully this is viewed as helpful. Keep up the great work!
The fidget factor of this knife after you remove the 2nd detent ball and spring is legendary. Outside of that, the knife is just pretty good. I had to do quite a few minor mods (deep carry clip being the most important) to get it where I wanted it, but now it is hard to replace in my pocket.

I believe the stock Spyderco clip allows for a strong and more confidence inspiring grip and carry while opening and closing the knife. Although it’s easy (and fun as hell) to manipulate, a wire clip tends to flex a lot more and would in my opinion make this knife unsafe or at the very least awkward to fidget with.
Did you consider modifying the shape and depth of the finger Choil to make it more useful? It seems as though it would make more sense as a fully committed choil rather than just a necessary cutout for the button.

My god the southern edge knife works web site is atrocious. The search function is terrible, there are no descriptions on the knives. Wow. Crap. I bailed out after 2 minutes of aggravation.
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Obligatory "Spyderco's prices have gone the plaid" comment.

It would be illegal in Canada without that serving detent. Illogical knife laws ftw
Told u so.
I think you crashed their site by sending people there lol

Looks like an awesome knife I’ll have to pick one up ... ugh I gotta get off UA-cam I can’t take any more damn political adverts for “universal healthcare could raise your taxes “
Casey Tyler what device are you usually watching UA-cam videos on? You shouldn’t have to deal with that garbage. I’d be happy to share my adblocker options with you so that you won’t have to be subjected to crap ads (especially those that completely don’t understand who you really are).
attic42 iPhone normally ads are fine but since it’s voting season ads suck lol
Weird. I removed political ads, but they may be back with the new Studio update. I'll look into it.
Casey Tyler try the Luna app (Luna: Best VPN for iPhone). I’ve had amazing results with it. Just start it up and you should be good to go. As someone who switched back to iOS from Android (after many years), I was impressed to learn that there were Android-level blockers available on iOS. And if you use Chrome on your computer, get uBlock Origin as a Chrome ad on in the Chrome Web Store.
I just pay $9.99 a month no ads google music plus much more. I forgot UA-cam has adds
For that price I want real carbon fiber. Those scales looks cheap.
totally disgree about the ergos. How a knife fits the hand is entirely personal. The Smock fits my hand petfectly. So sad for you.😢
Sorry, but I don't like it & cancelled my order.
Reasons:- ugly blade cut out for button
Pocket clip ...obvious reasons
Overall not a stand-out design
Expensive
Not really in love with blade shape and edge to handle ratio
I'm waiting for the Watu.
Button is stupid, hard grip during hard use it unlocks.
It's ugly.. and over priced like usual
All Spydercos are overpriced. Change my mind
So glad you enjoy it Bryan ... Once again another stellar review 💪👊
