I've been going to Bristol for many years. I saw Dale Sr. win his first ever race there and lived through the Darrell Waltrip domination. I've seen the evolution of the track from asphalt high banks to concrete. The trend has been going to running a higher line as the tires wear in. This allows going deeper into the turn and keeping momentum off the turn.

Derek works harder than almost anyone & harder than anyone I know.
Also, his undimmed enthusiasm despite often *self inflicted challenges is infectious to watch & inspiring.
*In the sense he had a decent history of rough / outfield old car rescues & whistle rides home that you’d not always have expected to go well.
HINT: Simple Green in your washer fluid does wonders for track slobber on windshields.
I use that as a paint remover.
I know you don't have a lot of time to sit around watching UA-cam but don't sleep on Goonzquad. They are good young men that were raised right. Derek, you would be proud. I'm sure that many VGG fans are also Goonzquad fans.

Those intakes were actually part of a huge recall. Did so many when I was a dealer tech. Lol

Everybody needs to visit Bristol one time in their lives! I wish I didn’t live 10 hours away. I visit for at least one of the NASCAR weekends each year and the first time coming around the corner and seeing the track is amazing. Driving on the track is a whole different level of awesome! Can’t wait to watch this event, good luck!

Pretty sure Old Cleet and KSR have mentioned the different rear ends before on the Freedom factory track

Love the acoutics of that place, great to hear that sound. Four of my favourite sounds..American V8 at chat on a circuit, V12 Merlin (Spitfire or Lancaster) and the sound of an Adams 02 with a westinghouse pump chuffin away! Or a Ford DFV on full chat. Goregous noise.

Live 20 minutes from Bristol baby. Been going since the early 70s and I got my tickets . Can’t wait
I grew up in Charlotte, my granddad was good buddies with Humpy Wheeler, my old man did a fair amount of work for Holman-Moody and some other one car teams in the 70s. Never been to Bristol but I have been around Charlotte at 179.664MPH (I decline to say when/ in what/ who let me). Above 165-170 time slows down and stuff gets small. Don’t know how else to describe it. Looking forward to a good show y’all are going to put on!

I have been a Nascar fan for a long time. I inherited that from my father. I think maybe next time I watch a race there I will see about following one of the race car drivers who has an inside the car camera. I just never paid attention how steep this race track is. It makes me appreciate what the drivers are facing when they are on the tracks. I have been following Matt Carriker over the last year and a half. I saw you on his channel yesterday. He was getting pointers from Robby Gordon on how to run the Stadium Super Trucks. I also just watch a video where you showed about your new shop getting flooded out (Sorry about that) I have had to deal with Hurricanes ( I live in NC) but fortunately I have never had to deal with a flooding situation. I did travel to Pascagoula MS back in 2005 in October with a men and women from my church to help rebuild some peoples houses.

Finally, proper perspective of the bank on the track. At 4:00 when the gopro tries to account for the bank gives a real world account of how steep it is. Everyone else has said it was steep, but this really puts it into perspective. Nice.
It's a DJI mini, better stability
They do make an aluminum intake for the vic the plastic manifolds are well know for cracking warping and being just a pain regardless of how you treat them

Charlie Glotzbach won the first I saw at Bristol. He set the record for the quickest race pace in a Chevrolet. The record was in the 1971 Volunteer 500 and still stands.

I cannot tell you how many intake manifolds have failed in the same exact way with that stupid plastic heater hose connection on the rear of the intake on our fleet of Police Interceptors that I work on for a living! It happens a LOT! I have one of our 2007 CVPI Gang Task Force units that I bought at auction recently, and it was overheating in warmer (100 degree) ambient temps with the A/C on when pulling hills. So....I bought a new Motorcraft water pump, new MotoRad failsafe T-stat, a new accessory belt, and a new belt tensioner. Well, I didn't even have to replace all that crap to get her to stop getting hot. One of my co-workers is rather famous (or infamous) for leaving off the factory plastic "air dam" that mounts under the lower radiator support crossmember, and sure enough, this unit was missing it. Thanks, Joe! LOL. Long story longer, all I did was get a new plastic air dam thingy from my local Ford dealer for like 20 bucks, installed ONLY that part, and guess what? No more overheating, even in 100 degree ambient, uphill, pulling hard, with the A/C on. Sometimes those dang engineers know exactly what they are doing......as much as I hate to admit that.
