The year is 872, and many of the separate kingdoms of what we now know as England have fallen to the invading Danes, leaving the great kingdom of Wessex standing alone and defiant under the command of King Alfred.
Against this turbulent backdrop lives our hero, Uhtred. Born the son of a Saxon nobleman, he is captured by the Danes and raised as one of their own. Forced to choose between the country of his birth and the people of his upbringing, his loyalties are ever tested.
What is he? Saxon or Dane?
On a quest to reclaim his birthright, Uhtred must tread a dangerous path between both sides if he is to play his part in the birth of a new nation and, ultimately, recapture his ancestral lands.

That music playing during the video really takes you to another world, and is one of the more prominent features of the Last Kingdom series. The woman's voice really is something special, and draws you in. :)

5th season - as in the 13th book 'War Lord' is under production in 2021 for Netflix. It ends with the Great Battle on the Wirral - called Brunanburh, the invaders left a legacy of 'Rest Hill Rd' (where the Saxon army rested (before or after the battle is not known), and 'Red Hill Rd' - so named as it ran with blood from the battle - both are alongside Storeton Woods - a high point, just over a mile from Brimstage. It is possible the Invaders departing route took them past Tranmere Rovers ground (Prenton Park), Tranmere being the only Norwegian named club in the football league.
Please make season 5. It’s an awesome program.

Did they actually build this whole place? Where is this place even? He says he "brought the roof line down" - does that suggest he built the buildings because you can't just level real buildings
They built it here next to my village in Hungary, Pilis mountains area (northwest to Budapest). The palace is an actual ruin building that they modified, there are also some smaller building around that in reality, probably they modified them and they also built some new ones. It is interesting to see that the scenes in actual places that I know in reality and on some places we also played some sword-fight game when we were children. It is funny that sometimes they walk/ride hundred of kilometres in the episodes but in reality they just walked to the other side of the ground and filmed from a different angle.
