  • Making a change in a garden border can be a little daunting, I decided to make a major change, I'm at the start of re imagining a border that's not really working for me, I've always admired Japanese gardens, so I'm now putting together my own take on what I hope will be an interesting Japanese inspired border.

    Garden is looking great.
Your off to a good start with a clean slate to create a Japanese garden. You already have some good plants to start with. Definitely a water feature in that area.
I started a zen/meditation garden area for my wife. I’m finally making use of a large space that was overgrown and used as a dumping ground.

I'm already enjoying the Japanese garden even though it's not finished yet. ^^

I think this will be my favourite border, apart from the polo pergola. One thing that screams Japan is cherry blossom. If it's trained "loosely" as bonsai would be stunning. The barrel though for me is like an elephant in the room. 😅 I'm so glad you're moving it. Proportion to the area I feel is too big . So maybe once the planting around it will soften it? Just my opinion and I am open to being persuaded 😊 don't come at me. 😅

Thanks Tracy, keeping the barrel in is intentional. If you take a close look at japanese Gardens, they are mainly quite structured with little to no plants. Hopefully, I can give it my own unique twist. Oh, it's called the cloister pergola. The polo is a piece of it. I like to get comments such as yours. My aim is to get my viewers to see my work in a different way. I hope you feel I didn't come back at you 🤣🤣🤣
