Wow - these EVO 4.2 sound GREAT, and those stands seem the business. This is an EXCELLENT review - complete explanations and well recorded for the sound demo. On my Advance Acoustic Werks A3H IEMs, the sound is reasonably close to the what I hear from the file played on the save device. I am now throwing these speakers onto the list for my upgrade - Triangle Gaia EZ, Wharfedale Linton and these EVO 4.2. I might add the 4.3 as well.
I bought the stands and the speakers just the other day, the speakers will arrive tomorrow but the stands came today and I used your video to assemble them it was a tremendous help thank you very much. I really enjoy your videos. Liked and subscribed!
Thank you for your videos Tharbamar, you managed to brainwash me into buying the EVOs, eventually :) ...Just kidding about the brainwashing part, but I did just order a pair of EVO 4.4 (also in white). Having played with various stands in the past, I could never be satisfied, so although I do have a small room, I decided to go with these tall ones. I think the bass coming from these floor standing speakers can be managed with some room treatment, I hope I am right, I will soon find out I guess. UPDATE: Received those...monsters. First hour's impressions... just amazing, the level of detail I am getting is overwhelming. The bass is fantastic and now I can listen to some realistic, no boomy drums/bass for a change. Voices male/female are so clear they sound real. The height of the speakers is perfect but the only thing I definitely underestimated was the weight, at 25.6 kg I thought they will be easy to move around, I think I need to exercise a bit more. Audio flow: PC -> Topping DX7 Pro -> Nord Three 1ET400A ST (dual PSU) -> Wharfedale EVO 4.4, I think I am done with HiFi upgrades for the next X years.
thanks for sharing your experience with the evo 4.4 I am looking forward to buy them but how is your experience with movies with them ? did you buy their center channel ?
@@mohabandijany9579 Sorry I cannot answer that question since I am only listening to music with those speakers in my study. I am only using some much cheaper Wharfedales with my surround system. All I can say though is that these speakers have an exceptional deep and clear bass reproduction, so I can assume they would be excellent in the TV room too.
You got it right and you tweaked it well. I believed on speaker stands and equips rack, the degree of difference all depend on room and equips. Great job. .
Excellent video! Very impressive job showing the assembly and your thoughts on why you favor this Sanus 22" stand. I agree with wanting a shorter stand. Getting the tweeter aligned properly with your sitting position is crucial to getting great sound.
Stands look nice , I have 24/26 inch stands i always stuck with mostly wood stands but love that top plate ! May fit my Lsim 703s their pretty big and 30lbs each As always thanks for the video

Hi, thank you for your video. My question is: Why is Wharfedale selling the "official" EVO stands and such stands have a height of 24.25" and not 22" as you suggest? Thank you!
Not everyone is the same height and also seats/chairs are of various heights. My EVOs are on stands that are 24" and is perfect for my sitting position
Hey Tharbamar, since your first rewiewed the evo s, are you still impressed by These speakers? Great rewiew by the way, always great watching your Videos. Greetings from Austria
Hard to tell listening to speakers through your another set of speakers but I get the impression that the bass is a bit boomy. What power supply are you using?
hi tharbamer another great video im going to get a pair of evo 4.2s could you tell me what the model number of the stands you are puting together many thanks from scotland .😊😊😚
i have the same speakers and was told that a burn in of 100 hours is needed by dealer, not sure if you have done so and if so, did you hear any differences ?
Nice summary of these. Can I ask what you are using (some type of hard coaster) between the floor and the speaker stand floor-spikes??? I've a slightly taller set of Sanus 24" that are not rated for the weight of these Evos so I may pick up a set of these 22" stands after all. It isn't immediately concerning, but I don't think I'd like them on the taller ones over the long term. Thanks!
@@Tharbamar I thought that's all they were, but I don't seem to be able to find anything similar on Amazon (e.g. none that are metal). I'll check Ebay.
Still think these sound too warm, easy listening experience but takes away the excitement in my opinion, the 706's sound more like a live band, and although at times I imagine that might be fatiguing, so is listening to a live band!, I think the sound/music should take you out of your comfort zone sometimes.
Get rid of spikes totally pointless and detrimental actually just put some foam on it and put the speakers on some open cell foam that's all that's needed You might be better off having higher standards and turning the speakers around
I preferred spikes over any type of passive insulation, foams never sounded good enough for me as speaker insulation, higher standards by turning the speakers around, huh?
@@Tharbamar try Oak spikes would be better if lightweight speakers big balls of Blu-Tack and one in the middle You can turn your own in a drill epoxy the bolt into the Oak and then put it in a drill and shape it as a cone
@@steven2809 yes usually just a stick on peace of plastic maybe they've got better, but you got a piece of metal that will resonate in any material it is in contact with aluminium would be reasonable but they're not. You want to make your best feet in the world get some squash balls fill them 3/4 with tungsten powder a bolt can be epoxy inside the squash ball and washer and nut on the outside try and go for aluminium bolts or brass
SPACIOUS!This is how Hi-Fi speaker should be.Relaxed, spacious and enjoyable...These are great indeed!

Good Day.
Nice review.
Great video. What kind of diffuser you use on the wall behind amp and speakers?😎
Very helpful review, thanks! Any chance to connect the drilling holes of the speakers with the sanus stands?
Nice music table, you could play all those disc over youtube showing them that are yours in the middle of the video.
Please compare B&W 606 s2 anniv
Can you please tell me if Rotel A12 can cope with this acoustics? Has anyone heard this link?

Which speaker cable is used in this demo ?
Audioquest or Canare ? or both in bi-amp ?

I’m using Canare, thanks
Great job & can you give me a link for the speaker spikes on top the stands?
Same spikes may not be available to buy separately, you can use something like this amzn.to/2P3bRxf
Why you should be asking yourself
Would you recommend having the tweeter or soft-dome at ear height, or aiming in-between the two?
That’s ideal set up for most of the time but it’s all depending on your listening position.
