- Finally!! We finally opened up this back area to make a play area for him!! On Christmas 2020, he asked if he could have this back area be a play area for Christmas 2021. After a lot of decluttering, we got to clean the space and create a play area for him just in time for Christmas!!

I don't struggle with hoarding, but I've always struggled with an all or nothing mentality. Basically not wanting to start anything unless I get it all done in one shot, which only perpetuates my own procrastination. So finding this channel has been helpful in reminding me sometimes the best course of action is to do a little at time, no need to overwhelm myself! I wanted to share because I know this channel is helpful to people for all walks of life, and the positive and forgiving disposition is addictive to watch. You're doing great stuff here. Very happy for Tyler this Christmas :)
The secret is little goals until you can achieve the biggest one.
Wow!! Someday Tyler is going to remember and realise, his mom put a LOT of time and effort and mental fortitude to do this special project just for him. Kids only usually recall a few major toys they play with when they're little, but they always remember WHO was there and the way they felt when that person went the extra mile. You go, mama!! 💕🦄
Yess, you said it so well. The sheer energy of what she did can't not be ignored and it's like she is manifesting so much love and joy for her kids with the thought and the perseverance to heal for herself and them!
Great job! One suggestion -- put a rug pad under the rug for additional insulation from the cold floor. They are fairly affordable at Home Depot or Amazon. Get the type with felt on one side and a non-skid backing on the other.
Or possibly there's something in the basement that could do the same job?

This was exactly what I was thinking! Craft and wrapping center, with a stash of gifts you have gathered. A small portable center for Christmas wrap. 🎄🎁 and maybe a little storage for party supplies by occasion. You are such an inspiration!

You are so inspiring! We had a dehumidifier when we had a basement. It helped a lot. Basement floors can be cold. You might want a pad under the rug.

It looks amazing! We never had a separate play area for our kids, so their rooms were always where toys were stored. We have a house now but they’re older so the family room in the basement is the media area. Tv and computer are down there, along with board games, video games etc. Having a finished area in the basement is so nice for our family and when they have friends over.

That is what I do to clean up is do small sections or clean bathroom, kitchen, and rest of house on different days. If you look at everything all at once it would overwhelm you. Nobody says you have to finish everything in a day.

Maybe decide where the gym area will exist now and when you've cleared it hubby can move his equipment. It would get it out of the way as you are going through the remaining piles.

Your poor hubby. Having to work all those hours. I'm exhausted just from 8 hour shifts 40 hours a week. Well glad to see your son finally has a place to play again. This should be extra motivating to clean the basement so you can create other spaces in the basement.

I just found you tonight, when you promised you would do this for your son and you did it, it brought a tear 😢 to my eye because my ex daughter in law would make promises and break them every time. That is so encouraging that you did it for your son. WTG! Now I want to get off my butt and get some deep cleaning done so when my son comes home from college for Thanksgiving break, he has a clean home to come home to and doesn't have to spend his vacation helping us clean. He will probably spend it helping us put up Christmas decorations outside. He loves to do that even at 21 years old.

Beautiful playroom area! I've been finding your channel so inspiring. I struggle with some of the things you've mentioned around finding usefulness in almost anything and with being sentimentally attached to so many things. Working in small areas at a time, only letting go of what feels right at the time, and stopping when I need to has been a great process for me.
