OG is freaking beast of a defender. He's elite on ball, elite on switches, elite off ball as a team defender. If you keep your eyes on him during a defensive possession he's all over the place bugging everybody. He'll force the primary ball handler to give up the ball and almost tip it away then deny the next pass then switch over to double team the next guy then tip the next pass and steal it from the next guy. As a Raps fan I love this dude.
I don't know about value for this trade or free agency, but I know he'll make your defense better and he'll hit big time 3s under pressure.
Good luck to him on the Knicks. OG is one of the few guys I wanted to be a Raptor for life.
He's so damn disruptive! I hate seeing him go.
I watched this dude switched on to all 5 players on one possession.
Sadly, casuals will look at PPG and think he's a mid player, but the points he stops on the other end is why true hoop heads love him.
Honestly I think this is a rare win win for both teams. Toronto and NY were trading with positional surplus. Knicks have too many guards and Toronto has too many wings. Quickley is going to be phenomenal playing with Siakim and Barnes. He's smaller but disruptive like OG. RJ will be fine. He'll get you 19ppg but his efficiency will always be a question. They are great character guys. I fell in love with Quickley when he confessed his Christianity and his mother or father told a story about him finding a wallet in high school with $500 and sought after the owner and returned everything. They both have a great work ethic and they've played under the bright lights of the Garden so you know they can deal with adversity. Really sad to see RJ and Quickley go.

As a Raptor fan, he is a favourite, amazing defender, good clutch shooter, no drama player and a good teammate. Has had injuries so keep an eye on that but he will be an asset to the Knicks. I will miss him in Toronto but I want him to be successful.

As a raps fan Who watched OG, I’ll give you the good and the bad
The good:
Phenomenal 1 on 1 defender, one of the best. He has his moments when he can get hot from the 3. And a good locker room leader
The Bad:
Very injury prone, terrible dribbler and can’t create for himself but wants the touches. Also he will ask for a lot of money in free agency.
If OG can stay healthy and stay in his role, then it will be solid for Knicks.
Oh and precious is garbage.
I like it particularly as OG doesn’t need the ball much and we secure the size we’ve lacked.

OG is going to fit in perfectly for you guys. He has absolutely one of the best personalities and is a fantastic team mate. Theres a reason why so many teams were interested in him. Raptor fans absolutely loved this guy. He so going to be missed. This is a good deal for both if he ends up signing with you and stays healthy. If not he is a very expensive rental.

@knowledge120 if he were that good Toronto would be at least a 500 team. He's the 3rd best player on their team and he'll be the same on out team!! The whole point Iis to give up your most valuable assets for a legitimate star!! Not a guy you're hoping at 26 suddenly turns into a player he hasn't been so far in the league! Defense is hardly played in this league anymore and for 2, he'll be in foul trouble the way they referree stars! His defense doesn't outweigh his offensive shortcomings. Can't create, doesn't get to the line that often,not a reliable scorer!! We could of traded for Spida,Siakim,Derozan,Dejounte, all those guys would have been a much better fit!! Thibs still coaches and aquires talent like it's the 90's it's not! Doesn't make us better then anybody we need to leap frog in the east! This is a horizontal and not vertical move.

OG is one of the best defensive players with better scoring efficiency than Barrett, Knicks got better. But RJ comes home and Quickley could thrive with the Raptors system so it can work out well for both teams

@@ericjohnson9687 they'll still have flexibility. They have 4 1st Rd picks next season. 1 from Detroit, 1 from Washington, 1 is ours, and 1 from Dallas. They can get a wing or two in that draft or bundle them in a trade. The Knicks are getting close to the luxury tax with a team that's struggling to make it the 2nd Rd. They can't keep giving raises to guys when they aren't going further into the postseason.
You have to doubt unless something is in the works. Basketball these days are all about offense. Knicks giving up 40 points between r.j and quick and we getting back 25 points and now we have no bench. So,yes I doubt this trade unless we get another offensive player.

We value our players more than the league value our players. This is a sound move for the Knicks. It rids us of a lot a redundancy(too many lefties, too many guards) and it improves the team in an area we desperately needed improvement. Gonna miss our homegrown kids and wish them the best.

RJ and Quickley were the only players other than Brunson that could actually drive into the paint and create. They were also two of our best transition players. Quickley single handedly won so many games for us with his play off the bench as well.

What I don’t like about the deal is that OG is a free agent at the end of the year. If he is that interested in being in NY, he could have come in the offseason and NY would still have RJ on the roster or as an asset to trade. RJ is only 23! Yeah he is inconsistent NOW. But he will continue to improve. This feels a lot like trading a ton to get Carmelo a few months before he would have been available without losing the assets.
At least Carmelo was good too. We traded all this for a mid ass player like OG.
The important part about this trade is the 1 second rounder vs. a first rounder and 2 second rounders. Not that it really matters, Knicks can’t draft anyways.

A lot of teams were after him. It was probably either give up Quick or a first rounder or 2. Toronto won the trade. But OG is exactly what we needed. We were getting cooked by wings this year.

Feels like the Knicks overpaid for OG. C+ trade for the Knicks, A trade for the raptors. Knicks gave up a lot of trade capital for a elite 3&D player who's going to demand $40M / year. Raptors did not have much leverage given OG was not likely to re-sign as he wanted a bigger role, but somehow were able to get 2 starting caliber players (possible future all-stars) from the Knicks. I can guarantee you that a Anunoby / Brunson / Randle big three is not going to win a championship and unfortunately the Knicks' 1st round picks and remaining players are not sufficient to trade for a championship piece

I hate losing IQ, I like both players, but IQ was my guy.
i have wanted the knicks to go after og for a couple years at least. i'm thrilled, mostly. i wish they could have kept quick and gave up grimes instead. rj was starting to finally look a bit more consistent, but i'll take og over rj every day. now we just need a coach that knows how to run an offense and use his roster well.
Problem is they gave up both those guys for him smh he's definitely not worth what they gave up!!!

Once again, the Knicks haven’t kept their drafted players in quite some time. Kevin Knox? Gone. RJ Barrett who lasted one season longer than Porzingis? Gone. Immanuel Quickley? Gone. To be fair, Quickley wanted to start and get paid starter’s pay. Obi Toppin? Gone. I think Mitchell Robinson is the last draft pick that has some longevity under Scott Perry.
Having said that, I do think this is a better fit for both teams. OG can guard multiple positions and be the 2-way player the Knicks badly needed. He’s also a little cheaper and has only one more season left. Precious is a bonus.
The Knicks still have a war chest of first rounders. I’m wondering if the next deal involves Mitch and an upgrade big man.

This smells like a save-my-job type of trade for the Knicks. If we get to the playoffs everyone's seat remains cool. Blowing up NY's young core to get a defensive stalwart in OG and precious but if we don't even reach playoffs I'm beginning to get concerned.
I still think its insane that we're building around Randle but okay. Prove me wrong Leon Rose. Jalen was a fantastic suprise but he's still only ever going to be out 2nd offensive option which is crazy at his height/size that I'm even saying that for the NEW YORK KNICKS.
Randle has been playing well and with focus recently but a part of me is still hoping for that Randle/Zion trade. Zion is a big risk but if coming to NY could motivate him to get and stay in shape, he would be the difference maker.

The needle moved from building around randle to building around Brunson, you just haven’t seen much action in that regard because Brunson just blew up in the post season last year. Wouldnt make sense to continue to build around Randle who loses the ability to even dribble the ball in the fourth quarter.

You can find a RJ Barrett type. You can find an Immanuel Quickley type. Good luck trying to find an OG Anunoby type that can guard from Muggsy Bogues to Manute Bol & has an offensive game.
This deal just makes sense for both parties...what makes it so surprising is that it went down with lawsuit beef ongoing. Quick gets an ideal landing spot, and the prince of Tdot goes home; the Knicks get length and versatility on defense, cleans up the guard rotation - and will hopefully allow Grimes to breath and flow; and finally Thibs gets his modern Luol. I suspect the OG switch to CAA representation has some say in this. We need to stay in this upcoming draft to keep financial flexibility.

Grizz fan but Knicks next deal needs to be for Lavine to send Mitch and Evan with 3 1st Pistons/Wizards/Knicks 24 1st. Allows them a complete lineup with Brunson/Lavine/OG/Randle/Isiah. Next year they can potentially upgrade and go all in with Mitchell deal for Lavine and picks
I understand there’s a chance IQ was gone anyway, but it really sucks to see him go, especially because he’s one reasons Donovan Mitchell is not a Knick. Kind of reminds me of when Phil Jackson refused to trade JR Smith and Iman Shumpert (can’t remember who for) and then just let them walk to the Cavs a few months later or whatever.

OG is an absolute beast on defense. Will absolutely clamp downn the opposing teams best player. He will be missed in Toronto and he can shoot the 3 ball. He is the ultimate 3 and D guy.
Just freed up money and got the log jam of guards knocked down plus we have the best wing defender in the NBA at his position
Guys, Barrett is terrible. 33% 3 point shooter, and 42% overall. These are legitimately pathetic numbers for a 2 guard, and Anunoby is better at shooting plus a better defender. Knicks absolutely crush this one in the short term, but it could fail if Anunoby leaves or something. The Raptors were screwed here, and Barrett is legitimately garbage today, they are hoping Barrett turns into a positive asset on this contract, but right now he's a bust and is over paid. It makes sense for them to take this gamble because they were faced with the alternative of just having cap space in a terrible city, but let's be real, Barrett was making the Knicks a worse team, and this is an amazing trade for the Knicks in the short term. They might end up being a defensive juggernaut with fringe title contender status for the next 3-5 years with this roster. The Raptors are going from out of the playoffs to still being out of the playoffs while having a worse team lol.
You do realize OG doesn't shoot much better then RJ and you have up Quickley for him too much for a guy that averages 15 a game!!

This is a great trade for Toronto and a BAD trade for the Knicks. Would much rather Donovan Mitchell. You don't give up this much for this guy. And we're going to have to give this guy a Max Contract. Obviously Toronto didn't want too.

Precious is talented but he hasnt stepped into his potential. This trade is good for him, gives him a fresh start and can develop into who ever he wants to be tbh. Right now, he's a back up SF/PF but can guard anybody if he actually tries. Besides his inconsistent shooting, worst thing about him is that he's a bonehead & he doesn't try. Best thing, his ceiling is a 3rd best player on a championship team (but that wont happen).

I hated seeing Quickly go, but I LOVED seeing Barrett GO! And Donovan Mitchell is still in play for the Knicks.

Mixed feelings about this trade. I don't think IQ should have been part of this trade. RJ, Evan and 2 seconds rounds. Putting IQ in this trade, makes me feel like we got the short end.
OG hasn't played with ball dominant players like Brunson and Randle. We have see how OG adjusts to that.
OG isn't ball dominant, he will make space off the ball and find his spots, he is a very unselfish player, no drama from him.
@@manuelsoares9698 I hope that you are right. Because, RJ forced a lot of shots outside of his skill set, just to be able to shoot the ball. Randle isn't a pass first player, and neither is Brunson. Unless Thibbs gives OG the green light, like he did with RJ, there's going to be a problem. Not all of the starters like the flow of the game with the starters.

I don't like to see I.Q. go but I won't miss RJ. Been calling for his trade for two years. Now we need a real center and off we go. To bad it wasn't Grimes instead of I.Q. I still haven't seen in Grimes what the F.O. thinks they see? I have been a Knicks fan for 60 years. At least I got to see two Chips. I have my doubts I will ever see another.

Sad day to be a Knicks fan. Our team just got significantly worse. When you trade 2 promising homegrown players you expect a star of some sort back. Not a glorified role player who is good, but not nearly as good as being made out to be. Whats next? Getting fleeced for a bum like Lavine? I used to think Leon Rose was building the smart way. But this move suggests the exact opposite. Better hope Grimes becomes more than a 3 and D guy which aint likely. Our bench gonna stink when it used to be an asset. If lucky we are now a play-in team

Why isn't Randall ever in trade talks. He is a ball stopper and plays zero defense. The Knicks offense was fine, pay attention to how Knicks give up baskets due to Randall playing no defense.
Randle is putting up 24 10 5 on 48 percent shooting on a great contract.

Watch Randal the entire time he is on the court, count how many times he doesn't close out on shooters, how many times they dribble passed him for others to get the foul or injuried, and how many times he doesn't help out the guards when they get beat. Learn the game vs stats. Count how many times the other team scores based on everything I just told you to watch, then subtract it from the points he scores, then tell me how valuable he is numbers wise. You sound like a causal fan, I watch games as a scout and coach.

Not happy with this deal. I saw Quickly being around along time. RJ was never a #2 but giving 2 very productive players & one being a fan favorite to only recieve OG doesn’t make sense to me.

OG can knock down clutch shots and is a hustle player, and he’s also got the size and elite defender and is a wing which the Knicks need. I see the trade more as OG for IQ bc both guys were likely to leave their previous teams this offseason anyways and they’re closer to each other offensively. I think both will also improve offensively in their roles on their new teams. RJ has been inconsistent but Malachi + Precious definitely doesn’t equal RJ so I can only assume there’s a bigger move coming with the package being that big from the Knicks
Good trade and opportunity for all players. The only downside is that the knicks couldn't' find a consistent role for IQ. I wish him the best in Toronto. IQ needed more minutes and should get that in a starting spot with Toronto. Dont be surprised if they start comparing IQ with Tyrese Maxey in philly, now that he is a starter. RJ and IQ should fit better with an faster pace style with the Raps. For the Knicks, they needed athletic wings and this deal makes sense because it fills a need. OG will take RJs spot which is an upgrade. Precious will help defensively and help with rebounding coming off the bench. If Thibs uses this roster properly, the knicks will certainly be a better team with Brunson at the point. I like Malachi Flynn as a 3-pt shooter but i think he lost his confidence in Toronto. He lit it up at san Diego state. I hope the knicks use his skill properly.
