    They usually run at least two trains on Steel Force, but I've only been there a few times. By far the best thing about this park for me is its scenery, it is such a peaceful park, and it's a park that you can just take your time and relax in. The creek is very pleasant, and the trout pond they have by Demon Drop is a lovely addition as well. I always look forward to going here. As for the food, I love how they have strawberry soft serve, and Auntie Annies is a goddess when it comes to pretzels.

    Dorney is such an underrated park. Once you go here more often, you realize its charm. Plus, the coasters are truly awesome. It’s a shame to see this park so neglected sometimes.

    Dorney is in a pretty tough spot, as it is surrounded by Six Flags Great Adventure, Hersheypark, and Knoebels, all of which are parks you'd probably pick over Dorney.

    This is my home park, I visit about 30+ times a season (I also used to work there). While there is a lot of concrete, there's also a ton of greenery, in my opinion. As for the running 1 train thing, Thunderhawk ALWAYS runs 1 train, unless it forms a line that reached the end of 1 switchback (that's the measurement for adding train #2). Everything else almost always runs 2 trains. My guess is the dry side was even less crowded than usual that day with the hot temperatures (everyone was probably in the water park) and they ran 1 train to make things easier on the employees since it was so humid.

    there are flower gardens at every turn. We have season passes to 3 local parks and even my 7 year old commented about how many trees there are at Dorney. They have the best food options of the three parks. The rides are great for littles to thrill seekers. They have 2 big coasers that the littles can get on. I think this may be my favorite locally.

    way back in 2011 when i was in middle school, i was actually the 10 millionth rider on Talon! they had a whole celebration planned with cake and the local news station, but i’ve always had bad social anxiety so i didn’t exactly enjoy all the attention haha. it was still a cool experience, my family got our own personal ride on the coaster and even a guide to take us around and skip the lines (although i made my dad ask him to leave since i was really shy and felt uncomfortable getting special treatment). i have the certificate somewhere, i gotta find it! it was a cool moment for a little baby coaster enthusiast back then lol

    I absolutely love Dorney Park! It's like my all-time favorite amusement park. I first came to the park when I was 13 (in 2009) and started working there in 2013 to 2014. I love the rides, staff, food, etc.. Tickets, Season Pass, I don't care, I just love coming to the park. As a kid or as an adult, I really enjoy coming there. Whether I am by myself or with anyone else, I just love going to Dorney Park. One of the greatest places I've ever been in.

    I work at Dorney! I see a lot of great things happening there and I think 2018 is looking to be our year as the workers are very nice this year and it’s so much cleaner than in past years. I think our main focal point is our variety and our entertainment and not so much “thrill” per se. unless you’re doing the water park. But it would be nice to also start reviewing experiences with employees there cause I think the team we have currently trying to make your time at dorney fun are very nice this year.

    I agree, however in the early 2000's it was an amazing time to be at Dorney. Dorney still has many more rides to come in the future. I think it would be worth another visit in the next few years.

    I visited Dorney Park for the first time back in June of this year and I had an awesome time. I was very blessed that I got to go back again in july.
    Sure it was hot but i made the best of it. I saw lots of beautiful landscaping when I was there and it's a very peaceful park for sure. What I love is hat they that beautiful clear water creek running through the park, and you can feed the geese that live in.the park during the warmer months.
    It may not be a destination park like cedar point but I think that works well in their favor !
    I can't wait to visit Dorney again !

    I found it interesting the B&M Coasters were silent. visited over the summer. you can knock this park out in 4-5 hours. went on a Thursday. They ran 2 trains on everything except the woody coaster. empty and relaxed. didn't feel crowded at all. loved the scenery and bridge over the creek.

    • @AdamSmith-gs2dv
      @AdamSmith-gs2dv 6 років тому +1

      Eye Cue This park has severe noise restrictions due to the neighborhoods that are close by, the B&M roar was way too loud so they had to fill the track and supports with sand to stop the noise and meet regulations.

    Yup! That's actually a very fair, honest, and accurate review.
    I'm a big fan of Dorney simply because it's my local home town park.
    On a slower day towards the beginning of the week its very easy to show up at opening, ride everything twice, and head home bored long before closing time though. There isn't any reason to spend a full day there.
    Cedar Fair owns about thirteen parks that I know of. Cedar Point is obviously their consistent record setting flagship park.
    I wish they would invest a little more and show a little more love and TLC to their other parks.
    Side note: Last time I wa at Dorney Park I overheard a twelve year old say "Who's Snoopy?"
    I grew up a big Charles M. Schultz fan..... but I have to admit it - NO ONE born after 1985 remembers who Snoopy, Woodstock, or Charlie Brown are.
    Cedar Fair has to step up thier park mascot and theming as well!

    I moved close to dorney a little over two years ago, and my parents used to go as children so we got season passes so that we could go whenever we wanted to. I really liked the variety of rides, I never really liked roller coasters so it was nice that I could ride some things. I’m not sure how it compares to a lot of other parks, I’ve only been to like 3 others, 2 of which I hardly remember (Busch gardens in Florida somewhere, a six flags in St. Louis I think, and Knoebles. Knoebles is the one I remember), but I still liked it. It can never beat Knoebles for me though, it was a huge part of my childhood, I would choose one day at Knoebles over 20 days at dorney. Anyways, I enjoyed it. My favorite ride was the scrambler. It’s my favorite ride at any amusement park, honestly. I love being scrambled.

    You are pretty spot on. I live about an hour from Dorney in Central New Jersey. So for me Great Adventure is a bit closer and light years more impressive. I hit Dorney once every 2 to 3 years, but drive by it every year when I drive 2-3 hours to go to Knoebels and occasionally Hershey. I do like Talon a lot, Hydra is fun and their big steel coaster is solid... I also enjoy the in park water rides, but that's about it. I hear the water park is ok+, but super crowded any hot day. Overall, it's a converted old school family park that CF ripped the charm out of without every fully investing in it to the likes of their signature properties. So... meh in general... but if you want to power ride Talon and Hydra, I've gotten in 25+ rides in on a day. Can't do that at many parks.

    I live about an hour from both Great Adventure and Dorney Park. I started going to both in the mid-1970's when Dorney Park was a ticket park with no admission fee. We tend to alternate our season passes a lot, Great Adventure is more extreme while Dorney Park is much more family friendly. I discovered Hershey Park in the late 1980's, a great family park but over 2 hours from home. Last year we got the Cedar Fair Platinum Passes and also visited Carowinds, Cedar Point and King's Island.

      StamfordBridge “The Revenge” part of Hydra’s name is a reference to the attraction that originally stood there, a wooden coaster called Hercules. Hydra now sits where Hercules did, and if you know mythology, you’d know Hercules supposedly slayed the Hydra. But Dorney decided to close Hercules and put Hydra in its place, as if Hydra was defeating Hercules, hence the name “Hydra: The Revenge.”

    Visited Dorney while we were passing through PA on the way to Great Adventure. I’d have to agree with everything you said. It’s a solid park, but nothing there wowed me (or even got close to wowing me). Hydra is cool, but it’s probably the weakest floorless coaster I’ve been on. Talon is solid, and Steel Force is just bleh after the drop. The hills around the park don’t help you out on a hot day, although it’s not as bad as SFMM. The only reason I’d visit again is if I were passing through again, or they get some kick ass $10+ million coaster that is just hard to pass up.

  • @aidenrodriguez7743
    @aidenrodriguez7743 5 років тому +3

    I live in the PA and I come here basically twice a week they do have two carts running most of the time since I’ve been there only one of the days there was only one train running but the park was empty that day so there’s a answer if you haven’t got one and it was the same in 2017 cause I get a season pass every year.

  • @michaelmorgan3910
    @michaelmorgan3910 3 роки тому +2

    It used to be a way better Park, I grew up with this amusement park and water park and it is best in combination, it used to have one of the best roller coasters in the whole state if not the whole Northeast Coast called Hercules which at the time was the largest wooden roller coaster in the world, the only problem is is it was not maintained very well and eventually had to be replaced after being torn down because it got rickety, but I wrote it in its heyday and it was amazing when it was maintained

  • @allenpritz8811

    The park has been running rides wonderfully in 2021. They do need one stand out attraction other than Steel Force. It’s running hotter than ever, but they have plenty of land to fit multiple additions in. It could compete or even be better than Hershey or great adventure if it did.

Felt like I was gonna through up. Had to sit in the back of the car laying down. And I had a friend with me too :( it was good rides but ive never gotten motion sick like that and ive been to a lot of parks

They have a great coaster and flat ride collection and I find it charming, more than some other parks I've been to. This is my home park and I find it so depressing. Its really sad how neglected it has become. And im sick of how we keep downsizing! Like they have removed my first inverting coaster Laser, and they removed a screaming swing and hangtime a huss top spin. Like what the heck they shouldn't be removing rides. I am just hoping we actually get something in Stinger's spot. A RMC Raptor maybe or maybe a gci if dinos get removed. It just is really sad to see a park get put in the back seat for a while especially since I grew up right next to it. Only good part is that I find the park very pretty and charming, lots of flowers and a creek.

    I live a little over an hour from Dorney but about an hour and a half from Great Adventure. I’ve only been to Dorney maybe twice because I think it’s good but the coasters can’t compare to SFGA. I definitely feel less urgent at Dorney because it’s never as busy and the lines are always shorter, plus there are fewer rides so you don’t feel the need to rush around to get on everything. This year I got a six flags season pass though so I don’t think I’ll make it to Dorney at all

    • @SeekerLancer

    This is my home park, they usually run 2 trains, but sometimes they run one train. It really depends on how crowded it is. The size of the park makes the crowd seem a lot larger, but it’s really not. They really need to at least try to expand a little.

    Totally agree with your review. Talon was closed on my visit though, so I really missed out on one of the park’s best, if not the best. Hydra was underwhelming, Thunderhawk beat me up, Steel Force was one of the weaker hypers I’ve ridden, and Stinger flat out sucked. Possessed and Demon Drop are the best rides there, IMO, since I couldn’t get on Talon.

    most of the time they run 2 trains except on thunder hawk, they almost always run only one train. It makes the line take forever even if it doesn't look that long. Also lines aren't normally very long depending on when you go. if you go during the haunt, prepare to wait in massive lines

    My boyfriend and I visit this park often. We call it 4 flags. It's like it's a great park but there's something missing. We also love that the water park is in the park itself and we stay in the hotel right across the street. It's convenient and we're able to easily get our fill in a day

    I’m an hour plus away from here and come 1-3 times a year and usually they run both trains on all coasters except for thunderhawk. It’s usually always dead as well when I go, I went on Saturdays all 3 times last year and no soul in the dry side of the park

    DP is best in May/June... prior to the overcrowding due to school buses and undesirables. WWK is best as soon as it opens otherwise it's a long wait for the water slides (don't forget about thunder canyon or white water landing in DP). About noon-1pm, we'd be in the wave pool and starting to finish the day. Leave the park and grab lunch at the typical fast food joints which are accessible by foot. Will probably save you $50-$100 vs. the long lines and meh food at the parks. Return in the afternoon to hit DP while everyone is at WWK. Definitely get the day or season souvenir cup.

    I really do like this park. Like you said it has got something for everyone which is very good. This was one of the parks I went to before I really got into roller coasters and conquered my fears of tall and steep rides like Nitro and El Toro. I have been going to my other home park SF Great Adventure for 3 years now. This is one of those parks I would like to see do better on the Cedar Fair chain and who knows maybe they will give it some cool stuff like how they are making Carowinds a better park. I do like that they have some older classic rides you can't really find elsewhere so there is some uniqueness to this park in terms of rides. There waterpark I would call ok but I have seen better but for what they got it fits Dorney. I give the park a 7/10 but before I was all about coasters it was a 10/10 for me. It's nice to look back on what I loved and give an honest opinion of it now that I am into coasters.

    I just went to dorney about two weeks ago and it was my first time in a loooong time since my last visit. I went on a week day so it was not that packed. But I did notice that the coasters had one cart on the track at a time.

    Dorney park may be 'plain' compared to many others, but that's what I like about it. There is still that rawness, that being in touch with the nature/enviroment around it, vs being a 100% micromanaged artificial enviroment. To me that's a good thing.

  • @nathanbrown6427
    @nathanbrown6427 6 років тому +1

    This is the park that I grew up visiting. It used to be a very classic, almost Knoebels like park, but Cedar Fair removed nearly all of the classic rides that were once there and turned it into a concrete paradise. It is not nearly what it once was, but it is starting to grow back into itself and the park has improved over the last few years. I agree, there is no stand out coaster at the park, Talon and Steel Force are very good, Hydra is meh, and Thunderhawk is nothing like the wild ride it once was. It is the local watering hole, the water park is the main draw here, so while not at all neglected, the dry park does just fine with the collection of rides it has.

    I worked at Dorney for 3 years and I worked at steel force for two... they run three trains usually on a Saturday that’s usually when people from out of town but they usually always have two trains running even at hydra... but when it’s really dead like early they will only run one train until a certain amount of people come into the park... also people always ask why does steel force only run two trains and not the third one... when there are three trains on there is is a better chance of the ride getting stuck if we do not have one train out of the break zone by the time the next train is returning the Trains can get stuck on the lift and sometimes all the way out in the middle of the ride where the other break zone is located... if u notice when there are three trains the employee move faster and there are about 6 employees on the floor we have 15 seconds to load the train before the other one comes back or everybody will get stuck... they try not to use three trains unless necessary... because they don’t want the quest to be frightened and also they don’t want them to be stuck sitting in the hot sun... they do it for safety and the quest enjoyment not because they don’t want to load three trains just so they can avoid that type of situation... if they have the right people working it will never get stuck but if they have slow people working it will... hope this helped and oh hydra doesn’t have two sometimes because of how many people are in the park but they usually always have two trains on everyday

    Classic, family, and the variety of rides is great. Something for everyone. Water park could use a water coaster, but other than that is great. Park is very pretty and does have a lot of gardens and flowers. Food is just typical park food unfortunately. Coasters are not great. The ones they have are alright, but DP needs more coasters and ones that are more intense.
