I have three beautifully planted tanks. Very little maintenance because of father fish. I saved a lot of money based on his method. You won’t be disappointed with his method.
Hello from India. I just got Father Fish channel link in my feed. So excited to see these videos and information on fuss free aquariums. Loved the information and how it's divided into beginner intermediate and expert videos. I am binge watching and taking notes. Wish I lived in the USA as I love your plant collection and this Aqua preta product.
I just started this beautiful hobby. About to start my second tank with Father Fish’s method/ soil with sand cap. I’ve honestly have been speechless. Thank you Father Fish.
I can’t imagine setting up a tank without using your technique, and your supplement. I’m so glad that I found your channel. Fishkeeping is so enjoyable now. Stress free… mostly.
My 40 gallons tank died after left for 2 weeks. Thank God my fish still survive, even though no shrimp left over. After watching your videos, i realized that i made many mistakes. Now i am ready to start over again. Thank u father fish for the knowledge... You r gold mine. I will update soon. Love from Indonesia ❤❤
Everywhere I go when it can be applied i tell people about Father fish! He has made it enjoyable to owning a fish tank with so much less worry about the health of your fish ❤❤
I'm absolutely in love with my 3 father fish setups. They outgrow all my other planted tanks for sure. I can't thank you enough for helping get past the fear and or disbelief that you can put dirt in a tank. Best move I've made in my fish hobby
Father Fish has the best dirt on the market. Got two tanks set up with his dirt capped under a deep sand substrate and they are thriving. Got good plants from Father Fish as well that filled the 29 and 15 gallon tanks out nicely.
dear father fish, first of all i want to thank you for learning me so much ! i have bred black worms in a large container with leaves ! they love it ! i also provided some lava rock and a small corner with gravel. i feed them paramecium and sometimes an alea wafer ,or some decomposing vegatables. i know the get about 20 cm and can lay eggs, some patience is needed. i have yoused drape leaves, couse i have one in my garden. and it worked great. then i got to much fisch and had to give it up. Hope you can do something with this. love you and warm fischie greetings, silvia from holland.
I have a suggestion and would value your opinion. In the case of established dirted tanks, IF your substrate additive was placed into pill type capsules and pushed into the substrate at plant root bases, do you believe there would be any improvements to plant health?
I have done that in the past to add humic acids to the substrate using plant glucose pill capsules. It worked well but was a pain to fill the capsules. What I do now is Brew up a small nutrient additive compost tea and use a large syringe meat injector to pierce into the substrate and release the organic compost tea.
Nature can manage everything, even in aquariums. Nowadays, many fish shop owners recommend chemical products primarily for profit, which is causing a decline in this hobby. Hobbyists often feel discouraged due to issues like fish diseases and algae blooms due to such products. All hobbyists need guidance from people like Father Fish to continue enjoying the fish-keeping hobby in a natural way. Thumbs up for Father Fish 👍
Hi I'm in South Africa and I've used 1 inch organic potting soil which is used in hydroponics.. it has most of the components as your mix does. My tank has some cyanobacteria and I've added more sand and doing regular water changes so trying to control the bacteria.. my tank is about 2 months old.
FF will you book have a segment about how to create live beneficial bacteria, how to create green water, how to keep live foods that will constantly regenerate, daphinia, vinegar eels, brine shrimp etc. I've come to realise how important these food sources are for fish
Thanks, I would like to share some experience. I placed one of my monstera plant leaves in my aquarium. After about two weeks I noticed guppies fish dead each time about six of them. I just removed the leaves after knowing about its toxicity. Please take caution. Many indoor plant are toxic
Been keeping fish tanks for a while Only fresh water I discovered your channel late in my journey but huge question. Now that my tanks been stablish for a while. Do your recommend to replace my gravel for deep substrate as you recommend and how do I do that on my largest tanks?
Father Fish.....question. I recently had a friend give me 5 tanks; three 29 gallon, a 20 gallon and a little 1 gallon hexagon tank. I plan on setting up the 4 big tanks using your system of soil, sand, leaf litter and plenty of live plants. I have a question on the 1 gallon tank. If I put in an inch of soil and 2 inches of sand, that 3 inches is 1/3 the depth of the tank. Is it ok to use 1/2 inch to an inch of soil with one inch of sand? I will be putting in a couple of live plants & a couple of small fish and I was hoping not to take too much living space away from the fish by having a 3 inch substrate. Hoping it will be a nice addition my boring office :))
@@FatherFish thank you sir. Now that gives me something to do this weekend. Love your videos. I watch 2 or 3 of them everyday at my desk while I'm eating lunch :))

I would love to have you visit Tyler. I remember the glorious bowfin you brought in. I am now located in Salisbury, Maryland where I have an on line business selling plants and fish and supplies. I have also opened a store for the locals.
Hi Father Fish.. I have set up my tanks like you say..but I didn't use your supplement..I can see after a year my plants starting to slow with growth.. So I was thinking maybe for people like me you could invent a natural liquid fertilizer or something??
@ OK so just add your your soil to my existing 75 gallon tank which is already sent and cap it again with sand and plant my plants and it should take off from there. Am I right? Thank you again so much.
Question What should I do If I already have the dreaded gravel in my established tank? Should I just add sand on top with the fish still in there? I’m so confused and anxious trying to figure out what to do next.
I'm having terrible trouble growing plans in my tank that are red they just don't grow at all I have a full spectrum light but still no luck any advice would be great
We do not yet have a foolproof way to do this. You can try freezing and injecting with a baster. The best weay is to drain the tank to the substrate level and rebuild the substrate.
HEy there i just got a frozen bring shrimp for my beta fish i left it in the car for a while it unfroze do was still cold do you think its ok if i refreeze it and feed it to my betta?
I use the terra preta method in my garden area & build my tanks largely the same way, as we have heavy, clay soil. I have a betta tank I just had to tear out because he was burrowing & kicking up the sand & exposing the substrate, so that one will be an aquasoil tank (since it's a shallow, 5g tank) with blue dream shrimp - as he's proven to be good with shrimp. All my dirted tanks do amazingly well otherwise. 😎
Hello Father Fish, I’d love to have the supplement but where I live (EU Central Europe) it’s near to impossible to get all the ingredients for the diy option (and it would be mega expensive for my nano tank too) and the only distributor is in the UK which would be around 60-75 bucks shipping and customs included for the small pack. Are you planning for an EU distributer? Portugal, Spain, or Netherlands would be nice options, I recon, since they’re harbor states. If no one can be found there who would do it, I’d be happy to take the roll. Austria and Germany aren’t known for their import/customs friendliness, though, so we’d have to work something out! Thank you and best regards, Leo PS: I’m in the FF discord server so we could talk about further details there :)
Hi father Fish. Can you clarify something for me please? I'm on the verge of setting up one of your tanks. When you say to add nothing chemical to the water, does that also mean dechlorinator? I wouldn't be comfortable not using it. Thanks, Andy.
Plants and natural water dynamics remove chlorine. To be safe add one vitamin C tablet per 200 gallons. It cannot be over dosed and will get rid of chloramine and benefit the tank biology.
just add a de-chlorinator like prime... what's up with this archaic mindset ?? Nature is complicated and can't be effectively replicated with low effort attempts...

Whats your opinion on aquasoils like contrasoil etc? Is it similar to what you recommend? Put sand cap on top of that?
It is not similar. It is not soil but is an infused composit. Sand cap it and develop a food web. All will be well.
Will this book of yours be available in India also?...
Its an ebook to start with
