It's funny because I'm a local Northern Virginian and I go to a lot of the same places you cover in your videos, often unintentionally soon before or after you cover them. I've driven by this trail numerous times since it recently opened, and I wondered what the experience of it might be like, so this video was particularly relevant for me. It's almost like we're living in a parallel DMV. LOL
There were a few runners out there, but it’s just not good for your breathing. Especially when you could just go to Walney Pond or Burke lake. I will however use this trail for getting places now I know we can do a fun Saturday where we take a scooter or a bike ride to the mosaic district
Living in Williamsburg, Va. my eye is on the Virginia Capitals Trail - Jamestown to Richmond. While the trail is only about 52-miles one way, I'm still training for the ride and have some ways to go to even do 52-miles one way.
I'm not a bike guy. This was basically the first bike ride I did in 20 years minus riding a bike at the beach once. But I just started watching videos of the C&O canal trail and the GAP trail, and I think I'm going to go buy a bike and ride from DC To Pittsburgh.
Hello Chris how are you doing man ? This was a good video man . I live in the area too . I am at Dulles Airport area . I didn't know about this trail & i would like to try it out man . I have a question were did you started at again ? I know about the bike trail inside the 495 on 66 going tours DC but not beside 66 outside of 495 on 66 . I just found this out from watching your videos man . Thanks you so much for sharing this cuz like I said I don't know about this & i live & drive by this area all the time . I also like your sandals you are wearing man . I do a lot of bike 🚲 riding & i wear my flip flops 🩴 because that's all that I wear all year around man even in 20°/30° Degrees Temperatures outside I am still wearing my flip flops 🩴. Chris what kind of sandals are you wearing cuz I am looking to get me a pair of sandals to wear instead of wearing flip-flops 🩴. I want to try this trails out . I would appreciate your help or options on your sandals man . Thanks you so much for sharing this video buddy cuz i didn't know about this trail .
Starts in Penderbrook neighborhood, ends at Dunn Loring Metro area. The type of shoe you want is called "Tevas". They have lots of different kinds of them. I try to get ones that are sturdy on the ankle. People say I should not be hiking, or biking wearing sandals like this because you can hurt your feet/ankles. But I've been wearing them for 20 years. I like that I can also wear them in the water which comes in handy on hikes.
@DMVAdventures O OK I am going to try it out man . Teva sandals are nice sandals man . I have been looking at Teva & Chaco's sandals but I kinda don't know what I want . People have said the same thing to me too that I shouldn't wear flip flops 🩴 while riding my bike 🚲 cuz you can get hurt ! But it really doesn't make a difference if you're wearing shoes you can still get hurt so I wear what I want to wear which is my flip-flops 🩴& i do everything in my flip flops 🩴 even cut my grass at my house in flip flops 🩴 or sometimes barefooted 👣 which I love being more of . Thanks you I am going to check out there website .
What scooter do you have? I nust got the NIU 300X, and so far like it. I've only scootered around Tysons so far, but hope to go further this summer. I also just bought their NIU electric bike, it is really nice, hooe to do some longer distance DMG rides with that!
Since they proposed the idiotic "next to 66 trail", I have commented everywhere that the trail should be in the other side of the tall wall, not alongside exhaust and traffic. Thanks for confirming all my complaints about the great trail design of putting bikers between 2 enclosed walls alongside loud, toxic fume filled 66 traffic! Next, the route 7 trail...
Yeah all the people who made poor choices by buying a property backing to an interstate highway didn't want people in their "backyards". MEanwhile they have trouble selling because you can hear the highway clearly from their homes. Feel like a park trail would be better for them.
Thanks for doing that I was wondering how that interstate 66 path turned out.... I guess that was a good enough compromise I mean it's better than nothing right?
It is a cool trail. It is SUPER efficient and time saving for people walking to work (or me walking to a bar, lol). However, its more of a once in a while trail because after 2 days my throat hurt from breathing in the fumes. I love trails that don't cross streets like this.
I ride a trike in Williamsburg, Va. for fun and exercise, and there are the same issues here, noise, smells. Too many people drive cars, I don't see how they can justify one or two people riding in a 3000-pound automobile. When I ride in the car lanes, cars do give me space, but I still can't go grocery shopping or get a haircut by trike. There's no place to safely park. Europe is further ahead of the USA in this.
That's disappointing. I was looking forward to running that trail. I figured the wall would be a little taller to keep the debris from pelting you and the trash from being thrown into it
I mean, I still had fun. But doing it two days in a row for the video actually did upset my throat. The sand I could deal with it was very intermittent and all the trash was off the trail and just on the side of the trail so it was just ugly.
You are literally running next to high speeding cars. Poorly thought out and designed. Huge waste of money. I have ridden the trail multiple times and usually, I am the only one on it because it sucks.
This was my first bike video, even though I was on a scooter. I had to ride the scooter so I could film the video quickly. But I’m gonna have to get a bike and do some more bike trails.
@@DMVAdventures After watching your videos, I'm doing a series on my Facebook page on best burgers. I've finished two so far. However mine are not videos. I would need a new laptop and camera to do that
@@BladderProductions My #1 is 5 guys, but that is because I went there when there were only 4 locations in the world and they were all in northern virignia. Used to drive 25 minutes to get the burger. Local area hot spots are Melt in Leesburg, Burger Shack in Chantilly (2nd location in Ashburn). Vienna Inn Burger with Chili on it is great. Freddy's is my fave fast food burger in Fairfax. There's a Bulgogi Burger at Bebop Korean-Mexican. Lots of burgers around. Best burger I ever had was in Austin, TX.
@@insanetharapy6948why?!bad design putting it on the traffic side of the wall, next to all the noise and toxic exhaust. Lots will not use it because of that. On the non traffic side of the wall would be so much more pleasant.

I feel like there are a million things to do but also barely anything to do at the same time, lol
Now that’s an adventure. I am not sure I would be willing to make that run, but it was still fun to see it and know it’s there.

It’s a Bird scooter. I spent $50 to film this video. 15 miles. More than 1.5 hours.

Next, the route 7 trail...
The residents blocked the trail because they didn’t want a trail behind their house. That’s why they didn’t do that.
Could have been a great neighborhood amenity if most of it had been built outside of the highway sound barrier. Instead...

Wow your worried about some small debris pelting you? Is that all it would take to deter you from going on a mini adventure??😂😂
You can bike to and from National Harbour from Old Town Alexandria, too.
