THIS is how commentary should be-entertaining, informative, and supportive of the athlete!! Her reaction to Trinity's last pass is what helps get people excited about these amazing athletes.
Kiya Johnson has scored a few 10s on floor where the amount of errors on her landings don’t even match up to this routine at all. Even when Trinity’s last pass was a larger lunge.
Trinity is a fantastic floor worker. I had never seen her gymnastics before, but when I saw her pull out a Biles 1 on floor in an elite meet, I was incredibly impressed. Florida is lucky to have her!
I can't stop watching her double layout. It's unbelievable! She flies and floats out of the sky! The double layout more than made up for the slight overrotation on the double pike! The 10 was fine with me. Most 10's have imperfections.
Outstanding! I am so honored to observe this artistry in motion, amazing precision she is another who leads the way to "Excellence".... Well done "Queen"....
On replay her front foot does slide back just a tiny bit, but the large step back is still a quick controlled step imo. Also maybe the judges thought the exception amplitude gives her some bonus lol but who really knows what they’re doing. I thought it was gonna get the 9.95 needed to clinch the win for sure. Not the most questionable score I’ve seen this season so far.
@@williamt594 in NCAA it’s about the lunge, her front foot didn’t move so maybe you could take control but the step no matter how big is considered a stick because her front foot didn’t move.
@@williamt594 Yes it was. Lunge was larger than most would like but that's not enough to be a deduction. She didn't move her feet, hence a stuck landing once she went into the lunge.
@@fordgtluver that’s as maybe but you can’t say that lass pass was in any way under control, ik ncaa scoring is more lenient and the foot might’ve stayed down but there should be a deduction for lack of control- look how fast she had to step back to save the pass
Everyone needs to remember that this was the last floor routine of the night. Depending what the judges did throughout the night, they had no choice really but to go up.
Trinity is also an amazing young woman! She hails from York, Pennsylvania and her siblings are just as wonderful. Kudos, Trinity…from a York County volleyball & swimming/diving official. You are a shining example that we should all aspire to be!
ok i get it wasn’t perfect but how many times have people had perfect routines that were less perfect than trinity and there were so many times where her and nya deserved a 10 but didn’t get it so i’m not mad
The last couple of years black women have been dominating gymnastics and it is so lovely to see when I was growing up all we had was Dominique Dawes and they did her so bad scored her so unfairly To see this happening warms my heart
LaLaReal 1 She never really tried full time, though. While in high school she was a diver and when she sort of went for 2020 she was a college student. She never had the training hours of other elites. I’d like to see her go for it full time no other training or school for distractions.
@@Appaddict01 Bye! When she competed she fell all over camp was last place... When she was Elite she was all over the place, low difficulty! What was her excuse then? Yall see her thrive in college and think its the same. She tried it, its over.
The judges probably knew she needed a 9.95 to win, so even with the last pass being a big lunge (.05) it obviously wouldn’t have mattered. I think that’s why the judges went 10 instead of the 9.95 especially since they gave Nya a 10 beforehand.
What does the announcer mean by "she fought for the lunge and got it" at the end of the last pass? She fought to make it a lunge and not a fall? For her to be allowed to include a lunge?
I love Trinity's gymnastics and normally her 10's are very well deserved, but seriously?? Were the judges in this meet blind? That lunge on her last pass was over a yard long and nowhere near in control. It literally says in the college code of points that a large step on the landing is a deduction up to 2 tenths. And it wasn't just this routine. It was girls getting 9.975's (which means one judge gave a 10) with foot shuffles on the landings, short handstands in bars, turning jumps and leaps that didnt get all the way around before their feet hit the floor, etc. Scores of 9.9+ would actually feel a lot more special if they were earned and not just handed out to the favorite teams and individuals.
I would have given her 9.90 0r 9.95 not a 10 that wad not perfection especially on the last pass it was huge but not controlled huge step back not a controld step back
@@fordgtluveryes it was controlled, but that last past ive seen gymnast do the same pass an control it a Lil more better which is what i was trying to say. But i get ur point to ☺
@@matthewhines9787 No it did not. It can slide as she is settling into the lunge. If she moved after then yes a deduction which she did not. Lunge is big but controlled. Good no deduction and a perfect 10.
@@fordgtluver No. The "plant" leg has to remain stationary and a controlled step is one that would show that the gymnast could stick(or at least very nearly stick) the landing cold if they wanted to, and the step is simply to show extension. By saying the lunge is controlled, you are saying Trin would not have had to hop back a significant distance if she had kept her legs together. Her plant leg did slide slightly and her lunge leg was 3 feet behind her and nearly OOB. It's not controlled. And saying it is does a disservice to the multiple floor routines she has done that _were_ perfect.
I lover her tumbling but Womens NCAA really needs to update their scoring. No way should a whole 1:20 floor routing with only 2 passes be scoring a 10.0. Especially when both passes were not stuck (I know they're allowed a controlled step, but thats 1. a silly rule, 2. that dismount was nowhere near a controlled step-clearly an over rotation recovery step that would be -0.3 in mens NCAA) . I'm trying not to hate, because she's a beautiful tumbler, but she only does 2 passes and dances for the remaining 60 seconds with a few jumps that dont need to be stuck either. No wonder she's scoring 10s, shes allowed to do the bare minimum and just bounce out of all her landings. Womens NCAA is too easy for these elite athletes, that's all im sayin.
