      Most of them do, it’s the cheap stuff that cuts corners you have to be careful about

    Try not exposing batteries to hot, or cold temperatures, or liquid. What I said might make a difference.

    But let's go all-in on electric cars which use banks of lithium batteries. What could go wrong?

      Gas powered cars catch fire at a significantly higher rate than electric cars, it literally states that in the news story. Turns out carrying around 50L of highly flammable gas also has dangers associated with it.

    The material in lithium batteries breaks down over time which can cause spontaneous fires.
    There hasn't been a lot of fires with electric vehicles so far since they're not as common as combustion vehicles and they're fairly new. Wait 10 years and see how well they're performing then.
