    This is dope. I was looking for a camcorder to film a music video that still had that 90s/early 00s quality but with sd card support and this is the perfect mix.

    Bought a ton of different handycams lol in the last few days but these DVD ones are one that I have missed and maybe they're the more affordable. Perhaps the DCR-SR series with the built in HDD is easier than using memory stick or DVDs but I'm sure there's people writing to memory stick on those SR models too for whatever reason. One of the most confusing things with these handycams is that there's so many models to figure out which has the best specs but I think the key thing is make sure you got steadyshot if you want good zoom shots

    • @FridayAdventureClub
      @FridayAdventureClub  Рік тому

      Very affordable! For this one I still use memory stick but I transfer to my computer using the cable. And it does have steady shot! I bought a version newer than this too and I’ve used it maybe once because it’s just a little more complicated.

    Well, mine is still relevant in 2024 and I bought it new in 2010, lol. The 720p is fine for youtube videos as most folks watch the videos on smaller screens where the megapixels don't really matter so much. It does get a little fuzzy on a big screen tv but is still perfectly watchable.

    Awesome video! I just got the same camcorder recently and I see in the video that you edit on a Mac. I'm looking to do the same, and i was wondering if u could share how u do so? What cords/things do u need to upload the recordings from the mini dvd rws to the mac? Thanks!

    • @FridayAdventureClub
      @FridayAdventureClub  Рік тому

      Aye! Appreciate it! Yes mini DVD is a little tricky, I always record to the Memory Stick. You use the same cable for memory format, the end you need for the camera is mini USB (and then I use USB to plug into my computer). For mini DVD you need to finalize the disk in the camera menu. After you’ve done this, plug the camera into your computer using the cable I just mentioned. Then there will be an option in the camera to transfer files, make sure you tap the little DVD option. On your desktop the camera will show up as a little DVD icon, any finalized files will be spit out in 3 different file types. I forget which is which but you’ll only be able to play the actual video from one, so that’s all you need. It may combine all clips into one single video file, in that case you’ll need to split up the individual clips manually. Hope this helps and hopefully I didn’t forget anything. Should probably make a video about this!

    • @FridayAdventureClub

      I try to always record to memory stick. When you record to DVD you have to “finalize disk” before you can export, it saves files as a VOB file, then you have to convert that file to MPEG online, and then it just gives you one big video file with all the clips you took and you have to split them in a video editor. Cool Video!
    Shooting stuff with a camcorder is just fun. I think it’s strange to comment on the quality. Imo, the quality is a lil too good. It still looks nostalgic/aesthetic but a little to clean and widescreen. If I were you I‘d look for a Mini DV or hi8/Video 8 from around 98 - 2005 or so. It might take you a lil bit to get into it like how to transfer a miniDV tape via firewire but it’s super worth it and real easy once you do it once.
