Because it's the Dove awards and not the Stella award show. No offense, the difference is the Stella award show is predominantly a Black Gospel show and the Dove award show is mostly white Christian music. So obviously black gospel music artists and fans bring more energy.
So good to see Kirk and team killing that performance.Shame about the audience not appreciating it... or them!! Keep going Kirk!

The sound team is garbage. This mix is so trash I can only imagine what it sounded like for them having to sing through this.
The problem is with the sound. If you check, it started from the first guy who sang after Kirk introduced the song, his mic was not tuned well.

I love Kirk Franklin. His music and performances always bring so much energy and joy! Maybe the crowd was put off by the beginning of his performance, as I was. This whole racist narrative is getting old. I was raised, like most of the people alive today, to live in a color blind nation the way MLK jr envisioned it. Sigh. I am constantly disappointed in the Dove Awards and the way their audience responds to Black artists. Have they ever noticed the difference between how Black performers sing on their stage versus how they perform the same song at the Stellar awards the same year? Every time I see Jonathan McReynolds perform at the Dove Awards, it always feels stilted and off, like their crowd. But you find the same artist performing the same song the same year at the Stellar Awards? Its like night and day. It's a good thing Kirk is a consummate performer and a true professional. Because anyone else would have crumbled. Ugh, do better Dove Awards.

What is going on with these worldly so called Christian Dove award shows? If the music was truly from the Holy Spirit, then no human down here should get any awards or glory for any music; only God Almighty would get all the glory and praise. The whole show is worldly and presented like any secular award show. "Oh look at her! She won." . If any of them had conviction in their hearts they would stop and end all these Dove award shows. When Jesus judges all these rich music people, and they expect more rewards from Jesus, I would think He's going to say, " *You already got your award* "
