I loved my first day skiing because I had no fear. And I loved my second day too until I fell and snapped my tibial plateau and ended up with 3 screws in my knee, 12 weeks of no walking, and life long knee pain. I honestly was so devastated when I happened because I had so much fun, but I don’t think I will ever ski again.
Damn I’m so so sorry that happened, What a way to be introduced to skiing. I broke my wrist my first day snowboarding but eventually got back to it, however I can’t even imagine how bad my confidence would be if it were my knee . . . I hope you can get back into it! Maybe try snowboarding?
this absolutely breaks my heart. Jay fell from a 40ft ski lift when he was 8 and wokeup in the hospital-since then he has conquered his fear of heights and is now a ski instructor!! Don’t give up hope!
Somethings I've always done are: 1. Every season starts with a lesson so that I can review what I learnt in the last years and possibly learn something new. 2. Every snowboard day starts with a green hill to warm up. The amount of times you go down will depend on the size of the Mountain, I used to go to a small mountain growing up so, I always went down the green hill 4 or 5 times practicing and reviewing different basics every day before going to black or double black diamonds. These 2 things helped me prevent injuries and learn a few things while still having fun.
my tips: TAKE LESSONS. start on greens or bunny hills work your way up to bigger slopes i did my second blue this is my first season and getting off the lift i tripped over my dads snowboard and ate it so don’t try to get caught up in your skills on greens bc blues are different.
We just recommend going multiple days in a row however you can! Stay with friends, find a cheap airbnb or hostel. Slopeside hotels are stupid expensive
