Your calm voice and moderate pace are perfect. So glad I found you
That’s very kind. Hope you enjoy the game
@@YakWaxLips well, you sold it to me pretty well 😁 The art style reminds me of "If On A Winter's Night, Four Travelers" - really recommend that one - its a masterpiece point-and-click IMO, and, surprisingly, free
(although, I higly advise everyone to get a "supporter" version, since developer totally deserves that)
Infinite save slots? Music to my ears!! Only just started playing but it's already even more of an improvement over the beta. The voice acting really brings it to another level!
Let me know your final thoughts.
@@YakWaxLips Will plan to get a video out once I've finished excavating the barrow!
@@bkbj8282 I have no idea what you’re on about. Trees are notoriously hard
Happy to hear the approval! I bought it today; I mean to start playing it after I finish RtMI.
i only got into cloak and dagger's stuff in the last few years but enjoyed what i played so was looking forward to it as this fits more with my current personal preference for adventure games
more narrative driven mysteries then out right comedies.
Yeah I’m the same. All about story for me
I beta tested Hob's Barrow and can only echo this review. It was an absolute joy to test. Unfortunately I didn't get to play with all the voices in place as I went on holiday shortly after that version was put up, and then I lost time for final testing when I came back.
This game really is a must. The characters are very colourful, and there's a goat that puts the one in Broken Sword to shame
Some pretty hardcore goats in this 🐐
Played it. Amazing game!!! Can only agree with this review. I For the most part, this feels like the spiritual successor to the Laura Bow games, but towards the end it certainly swings pretty drastically towards a true horror point-and-click adventure game. Man, that ending..... I hope they make a sequel.
This looks awesome will be buying it and Return to Monkey Island in December
It started off good but towards the end it just felt so rushed. The game quickly transitioned from a mystery adventure to lovecraftian horror. Before the last few minutes the only scary part I remember was going inside the badger's burrow. I did not like the ending either, this game begs to have another ending. You are given dialog options to choose from throughout the game, it felt like they designed the game to have a good ending but later on decided to scarp it.
There are some unanswered questions as well, the first time you see Father Roache he's sick but it was never explained what happened to him. What's with Herbert the cat? How was he able to get in Thomasina's room? Who slid the diary in her room?
The game was okay, by no means game of the decade, let alone game of the year.
This is the best post. It’s really hard to get your ideas and thoughts down into words but these echo mine 100%. The one thing I’m still a little unsure of is the whole issue with the milkman. Why do that to him? Is it because he tries to escape the area?
Trainwreck in slow motion: The game.
The game: motion in slow Trainwreck.
Been searching for a game similar to the Broken Sword games, maybe this is the one.
I’d highly recommend Crowns & Pawns if you’re looking for broken sword style games. Also the Secret Files series.
@@YakWaxLips Thank you, I'll check them out.
@@YakWaxLips thanks I will check those out
Similar how?
@@i11usiveman97 You just have to play Yesterday. The game blew my mind.
Looks like an amazing game indeed. Thanks for yet again a great review.
Thanks for the great comment 😊
The paralaxing looks good. There seems to be a resurgence of great adventure games happening
No paralaxing looks good.
Is this game from the devs of the Deep Sleep/ Don't Escape games? It has the same crosshair cursor, format, text style, pixel art style and gameplay type as all those other games, albeit with differences, voice acting being one of them.
Or is it inspired by those games?
I'm really interested on the origins of the game. It's so nostalgic of the deep sleep and don't escape series.
No, Don't Escape is by scriptwelder and this is by Cloak and Dagger Games. It's the engine: Adventure Game Studio that makes it look similar.
Outstanding game.
I love this channel ♥️
Thanks 🙏
Loved this game, especially the setting and the voice acting! Can you recommend something similar?
If you haven’t, check out the Wadjet Eye games.
hi
Too many event triggers. A good adventure should have none. To often you know exactly what you have to do, but you can't because there is a trigger somewhere that has barely anything to do with your current task. That's lazy design. Also this game screams for having multiple endings. I don't need a happy end, but this ending seemed somewhat unsatisfactory.
Oh yes the ending was so bad... :(
Edit: Although, [SPOILER]
If you think about it, and recontextualise it all, the cat, the goat... if you see the whole village as just being possessed/entranced by the demon, it makes it a bit better/deeper.
"Flawless"? Really? lol, game critics these days.
The game is the epitome of being completely clueless about history and watching it through a modern woke lense. Literally none of the historical details are even slightly convincing. The village people are all drunk, unpolite or backwards and the mc is a cringeworthy bosslady. And these are only the things you can see in the first 20 minutes of playing.
Yeah, you totally don’t sound like an edgy, cynical twat who fancies himself a lot better than any otherwise rational person would. The avatar and unironic use of “woke” are the icing on the cake.
Yes, “flawless” is an overstatement, I agree, but your unhinged rant, though not entirely illogical, isn’t necessary. If this historical inaccuracy in video games makes you this angry, I doubt you’re anyone that should be taken seriously (hence why you rant on the internet, because offline people are already sick of your shit). 😂
PS: Anyone who rants about “wokeness” and “bosslady” is just proving they have issues with women. Yes, it can get cheesy and downright pandering at times, no doubt. I know plenty of liberals who roll their eyes at that shit too. However, anyone who goes off about it has something deeper going on and it nearly always involves sexual frustration and a Freudian complex. Being into Stirner, video games, horror, and pseudo-intellectualism ticks all the boxes. What a lonely, miserable person IRL you must be. 😂
Chill mr game critic the game is good
