This may be TMI but my mother had me fully potty trained at 6 months cause she was pregnant and refused to change two babies at once. The trick, she took me with her whenever she went to the bathroom. There was a potty for me next to hers. By the time my sister was born I was 1 and no longer in diapers cause I knew how to let my mother know. It’s mostly repetition along with timing after meals.

I mean I know that these mothers are doing their absolute best and I don't want to "mom-shame" anyone, but I think we should think more critically about posting for thousands of people to see the most intimate moments of your children, without them being able to consent

Great job trying ladies! Being a new parent is a lot but with a little effort from all caregivers you can get EC down. I started EC at 2 months after watching my LO for signs. If you are already tracking diapers just note times and look for patterns. ie my LO poops first thing in morning after waking up.
LO poops in a toilet 95% of time and not having to change poop diapers is fantastic! Worth all the effort in my opinion!
It is okay to do EC the "lazy" way or part time. Where you take them when convenient or opportune times. When you need to use the bathroom take them also. Or if you do have time take them every two hours. Reducing diaper usage even by a little is great it doesn't have to be all or nothing!

I practice elimination communication with my son, started at 2 months with my son and we use cloth diapers. He is 7.5 months now. I only do it part time, so I offer him potty when he wakes up, a little bit after he eats, and before he sleeps. I feel like most parents know when their baby is going poop so why not just try to put them on a potty. I haven't changed a poopy diaper in a few weeks. It's such a good feeling when I get to reuse a diaper and catch his pottys. EC is just to help your baby not soil themselves, no punishments or rewards, going on the potty is good and going other places happens.

As a mom of three (one is about 8months), I am cracking up. I know this process can work, so mad respect to those parents and babies who can nail this. But how can you not laugh 😂

My son ( that I did E.C. with) used the potty for ALL his poops (which was all my doing of course because I had to bring him there) from age 4 months until potty train (he PT at age 3) . I do not regret any of it because it prevented him from potty training at 5 or older due to his High needs. Basically my goal was to mainly prevent him being conditioned to prefer the diaper. Diapers were used as back up. Meaning he wore them as part of his clothing but if he went in them, it was considered an "accident" (MY fault not his obviously) . Had he been conditioned to the diaper , his high needs (he had intellectual &developemental delays) would have played a big part in him preferring the diaper. For example he is just now at age 10 dressing himself finally. But he was in little boy undies by age 3, like most other kids . I know most neuro typical can do age 12months but lots of parents choose to start PT around 2 😬😱 because they think thats the "appropriate time" to start 🙄 , so it is true age 3 seems to be the norm nowadays for even neuro-typical kids.

@@ms.anonymousinformer242 Very smart and interesting approach! I agree with parents thinking it's the norm to potty train after 2, it is not. There is a sweet spot between 18 months and 24 months, were any toddler will signal it is ready for pt, parents just choose to ignore it, because everybody thinks should pt after 2. I started showing my daughter books about the potty and explaining to her stuff about the process, showed her the potty in the bathro, she usually also followed me in the bathroom and found it interesting from about 16 months. She was also cloth diapered mostly (I absolutely loved it) so she knew this feeling of being kinda wet, so she knew when she was peing. She started showing signs of being ready at 21 months and by 2 she was potty trained. Now at 25 months she only wears a night diaper but usually it is stil dry in the morning. When they are 2+ years old it only gets harder as the terrible twos hit.

I've been doing EC with my son since he was 12 months. I wanted to start sooner, but wasn't disciplined enough myself. I wish I did and stuck to it though. They're definitely capable of understanding potty time at a very young age and prefer it over peeing and pooping on themselves.
We're working on signing for going to the bathroom and he does express he needs to go in his on ways.
In the day time, we cloth diaper occasionally - in between him wearing his undies. At night, I use the disposables just in case, but he know how to wake up to let me know he needs to go to the bathroom.

My last two kids are 18 months apart. My three year old adamantly refuses to potty train (which if you can voice it so eloquently I feel like he should be able to do the thing.) And my 18 month old loves going potty and will not keep a diaper on. Motherhood is hard...

You can try doing ec with timing if your baby doesn't signal, e.g. after getting out of something and before getting into something, upon waking up, before going to bed, after feeding. You can just do this part time like on the mornings, evenings, and weekends, it's not all or nothing and some is better than none.

Its actually really easy if you are consistent. I take my daughter to the potty everytime she wakes up from a nap and when she is grunting. Also I dont reward her because its a natural thing a d its important to demonstrate that its not wrong to go pee or poo in their diaper

I want to do elimination communication but my child at this point would always be in the toilet. Always changing pee diapers he goes at least once an hr. It's like I change a pee diaper and 10 minutes later there is pee in it. He is still random for poos to try for that.

Not really done in cultures all over the world, these ladies seem like they knew very little about the practice and no one really helped them understand how to do it watching this made me cringe as someone who practises EC every day, the baby doesnt just have no nappy on all the time you need something to contain the misses. Think about words like "ridiculous" when talking about other peoples normal cultural practises and how they may receive that.

you can not really do EC as a few day challenge it's a life style and it takes time to learn babies cues, and for baby to get used to pooing on the potty. Also you use a back up nappy you don't try catch everything even in cultures where its normal they use cloths as a back up. these mums seem unprepared it would have been better to have someone experienced go along side them in the process . in cultures where this is normal they have input from wiser elders to help them learn the ropes.

Babies just poop and pee A LOT and this seems like exactly what was said, a baby is going to soil more clothes, and the floor, and the walls, and every surface you put them on because they go without much warning, and you'll end up spending more time and money just trying to clean it all up, then are you saving time or money by doing this.
