I love Tactacam. I’ve had good luck with them. I just scored a couple of the new XB at camping world.
Would love to see a video of you testing the solar panel and unit voltage/wattage.
Have you been able to field test the solar panel? Curious to see if one that small can actually keep the camera charged.
It's a 5v panel, haven't tested it for wattage but it's pretty small. Even Tactacam states that it won't maintain with low sun quality and high picture counts.
Hows the solar working out? Read one review where a guy said his wouldn't charge up enough so he was still having to go replace batteries frequently
Honestly I haven't used it. I'm running them on 12v rechargeable because there is no way this little panel will keep up. My cams are normally in low sun and high picture count locations
@@herd360 where did you find the battery tray to run the 2A batteries?? I’m not having any luck finding them.

what is combination of solar panel that will charge internal lithium pack. I only get good sun later part of day, and the little panel will not keep up?

What do you have your settings on for ‘battery type’ since it’s a rechargeable lipo pack? Ni-mh, alkaline or lithium ion. Thanks
To be honest I never touched that setting. I always run external power and these cameras can't read external power so I never bother changing that setting
May be a dumb question, but with the 2 antennas... is one for att and other Verizon? Or will having the 2 antennas help improve your cell service no matter which SIM card you insert? Was going to purchase one if it improves service, but if it’s just one antenna for Verizon and the other for att may not do it...
Reason I ask too is because the XB you can swap carriers, but only one antenna
Dual antenna is an fcc requirement because of the Dual modem. I haven't tested with the both carriers but i get full signal with just the antenna on the hinge side and zero with just the antenna on the latch side. I see no difference in dual or just the hinge side antenna. Ridgetec has been using a dual modem for over a year. Their camera works the same with antennas.
@@ryanpate4 xb has 2 antenna as well but they used an internal for the latch side. My guess is because it doesn't do much anyway and they just had to satisfy the fcc
@@herd360 I'm interested in seeing now if you were to try the other carrier and put the antenna on the latch side to see if you will get full signal and no signal on the hinge side
What’s the difference between the XB and the SK? Is it just the battery and the solar panel and tree mount?
That and they used an internal antenna on the latch side instead of external
Also, when it comes to data plans if I get the $120 unlimited Verizon plan, and say for example I run the camera for a month and then turn it off for three, when I turn it back on has it used up four months worth of data or does it pause the plan while the camera is off like my Spartan camera does?
I pay for the monthly so I'm not 100% sure how the the yearly works but I'm pretty sure it's a year to year plan and doesn't get paused.
I have the Reveal X, which has HD Pics for $5 for 50 pics. How much is the additional fee for the HD videos to be sent?? Thanks for your time.

So if I set it up at&t get it out in the woods and the signal is trash can I switch the card to Verizon in the field to see if it has better signal?
That's the way it should work. I haven't personally tried it
On the back of the box it actually says you can

Is the charging cord for the battery pack included?
@@herd360 the 2 I just ordered came with the cord but not the charging block. Just used my iPhone block with the included cord
It comes with all the accessories, including an extension solar cord. The only missing is the SD card.
you should open the packages, do a dull inventory first... then you would see the solar panel extension cable that comes with the camera

Bass pro must have gotten a bunch. Just happened to check today and they had it so i ordered one. Be here in a couple days. Hopefully it is as awesome as it sounds. Love my Reveal X so far. Have it paired with the tactacam solar panel I bought from you. That is actually how I found your website, from searching for the tactacam solar panel. Will be ordering from you from now on if you have it in stock.

I just ordered one. So far, the only thing I'm not fond of is the green LED indicator being visible. I'll probably throw some electrical tape over it lol.
The green led is only on during the day when solar charging. When the sun goes down the light will go out

The blue light was still blinking so phone was not paired yet. Several more steps on phone you skipped.
That wasn't really what this video was about. Connecting with wifi has never been an issue though. Back in the beginning when Tactacam sent me 5 test Xs in January it was glitchy a d you had to put the phone in Airplane mode mode these days it connects really fast for me.
u tried to make a funny about how short the solar cord was,i got a extra long one also in my box,and i was told by tech support that 1 antenna was for att and the other was for verizon
Yes after the video I went through everything and found the longer cable. It truly was my first look at the camera and I missed that part
