Yale Assure lock automatically unlocks if you’re within 10 feet of the door with your phone on you. You can create temporary pins for guests. You can lock and unlock anywhere through wifi. You can set it to lock after a set time.
@@EricWelander it is hard, but with stuff being out of stock and ordering now makes it simple once the house is done and I have all toys I need at once.
Interesting tidbit here, I placed two orders, one from HomeDepot for in store pickup and the other from Build.com. Home Depot auto cancelled my in store pickup order. I guess they had to prioritize people with shipping to home and somehow my pick up was coming from the store's stock. The Build.com one came quickly but now they are backordered too.
@@EricWelander my order was supposed to be shipped to my house but I got an email the next day telling me the bad news. Scalpers got them though. They’re going for $450+ on eBay
i recently installed a schlage encode plus and it works great with my iPhone via HomeKit but my apple watch will not open the lock by placing it against the lock. i have to open the HomeKit app on my watch and tap on the name of my lock to open it. any thoughts from anyone on this? basically, the NFC feature isn't working.
So I have my wife and I within our Apple home. When she uses homekey on my ATV it says it was unlocked by my email address and not her name or email address. Any idea what could be going on?
My concern with this is that while you are inside the door and do not want to open the door for someone in the doorbell. This will unlock the door for them
I bought this block specifically because of home key. Not happy. I can get the phone to open the door, but I can’t get my watch to open the door. The Watch gives me notification with a checkmark saying the door open but it’s not.
As much as I love the idea of Apple Homekey I think the negative point that you are raise about not possible to share a key without giving access to all accessories is the one that puts me off. Also when you look at the Aqara A100 with the possibility of touch in the door handle and the four point deadbolts makes that for me a better choice but I think I will wait until there are more Homekey locks with the addition of Thread.
Weirdly this lock does support thread over HomeKit only. It’s not said anywhere by the manufacturer. But it doesn’t utilize thread only when used with HomeKit.
this is great, but Steve Jobs said it best..the best accessories are your fingers. This is why apple came out with the iPhone originally without a stylus..remember when he said that? With that said, I'd prefer to have a smart lock that utilizes fingeprint over my apple product. This is just my two cents..
Good point. But you can type in a pin with your fingers on the pad. The main fingerprint competitor to this lock, from Aqara, is too picky to work on weird front doors like mine so I can't review it. You need a perfectly aligned door with space for the whole setup from Aqara to get it to work well in my experience.
Hmmm... Wonder why they added an old school key lock? I guess for people that only have one way of getting into a house I guess when battery depletes? I'm trying to delete keys!!!
I have a key hidden in a lockbox completely out of sight just in case my batteries die and I need to use a key to gain access. Keeping a key option is a good backup, in my opinion.
The more and more I think about this, Schlage should make 2 version of the encode plus for the consumer. (With/without key) Of course you can probably have a locksmith rekey the new lock after it is installed but technology is moving towards keyless. Don’t really want to add an extra key for the front door and keep a separate one for the back door.

but how do I add the homekey to my phone and watch for a new level lock.
I ordered my Schlage last week still waiting on it to ship even though my house isn’t built yet lol. All these toys and no house
Haha at least you should be prepared when the time comes. But waiting must be hard

I’m in the same boat. House isn’t finished but I’m starting to get these things ordered now so I’m prepared
Are the old locks getting the ability to add PIN codes in the Home app too, or do we still have to use the Schlage app?
Thanks for video 🙏🏻, there’s any homekit doorbell works with hot weather? In my country the temperature around 45
Hi great video. What's a good way for elderly person who might be in bed or upstairs to answer a video doorbell and then unlock the door remotely
That music 👌🏻
Great video btw. Wish I could get one right now.
Thanks Tao!
Have you try the new one yale
Assure lock 2 ?
Great video Eric!!! You covered all the info in a short amount of time
Thanks Brandon! I'm glad it was helpful
Lowes and Home Depot sold out at launch. Mine been on back order since last week

What if you lose your phone or someone steals it? Won’t they have the key to your home by default ?
The didn't automatically share in the wallet to everyone in my home, how can I give them access

Where did you find the information of watch compatibily models? I can't find any. Please share if you have an official apple link.
I’ve been doing this for 3 years now. But using location to open the door is the best
That can be a great way to unlock the door, but sometimes people still want their door locked when they are out in the yard

Works great for iphone, but using home key on the apple watch doesn’t work no matter what I do. It even says “done” but then the lock doesn’t unlock.

Uncle Joe's gonna be jealous of HomeKey.

It also baffles thieves 20 years or younger

"Baffles thieves 20 years or younger" Lol!
I heard about people on Reddit getting them rekeyed at their local hardware store. I might try something along those lines some weekend afternoon.
setup Apple wallet
What a waste of a video....talked everything about how this works without talking about setting it up
Shame they put a keyway on it! :(
It’s a fail safe. In events of a dead phone or a black out, you still have a mechanical fail safe.
Prolly they could better design it tho
@@howcanimiss the Yale assure SL has no key way, you can put a 9V battery underneath if it goes flat. I’d rather no key way to be bumped/picked!
