I’m down here in south Alabama experiencing a historic snow event and I just had to sleep out in it in my hammock last night. Thanks for taking us along. Keep on trucking my friend. 😉👍🏼🙏🏼
I hope your return is full of enjoyment and the conditions well-tolerated. I have been keeping a close eye on this system and it looks like another day or so of colder temps and then might see a little break. I took a pit stop (on my way to A.F.S.P.) in Fountain Inn, S.C. last night at a friend’s house just as the light flurries started to fall and within an hour people were sliding on the icy street outside. I loved the ice falls at the end coming off of Hogpen Gap. It reminds me of home in Alaska and why we love having the place to ourselves in the winter after the tourists have all gone home. I love your remember and crediting your inspirations for taking on the trail - I hope they get the chance to see these videos you remember and credit them. Stay high & dry, warm, and optimistic Kevin. You’re doing great and your videos are terrific. Thank you.
Thanks for that. I try and do my best and also to enjoy being on trail. The journey is never just about one person, but everyone who takes part including you. Thanks for sharing.
Second Chance Hiker was an inspiration. We got 7 inches of snow here in PA. Beautiful views! Micro spikes are great. Those ice formations are pretty! Great video! 😃💚👊
I’m not trying to one up you but down here in the deepest parts of south Alabama, we got 8 inches yesterday. Broke the all time snow record by double the inches!🥶☃️
Out getting it. Awesome Kevin. In my younger years I would lay in the snow for hours when coyote hunting waiting for a shot. Now I try to stay upright, keep moving and stay warm... LOL Crunch, crunch, crunch...
Brr that’s super cold and icy, especially for Georgia! Those are huge icicles. Great to be with Metro, are you guys planning to hike the whole AT together? Awesome to have a good friend to talk to and share the journey. I can hear your enthusiasm! A great day!! ❄️❄️❄️- Jen
@@atypicalhiker I don’t know Kriz I guess. You’ll be great on your own. From what I’ve heard hikers group up here and there and after a few days move on at different paces. Stay warm out there!! 😁🙌🙌 Jen
You can get a lot of snow up there in the Appalachian mountains though in the middle of winter. And ice. It’s been a long time since I hike there in the middle of winter, but I remember. Hiking in the evening on trails that were just covered with ice. Very iffy. Hope you have some micro spikes. And personally, I would be wearing boots and not running shoes in that kind of weather. But I know a lot of people do it. Braver than me, lol. Definitely a fabulous adventure.
Just found your channel. 2nd Chance emigrated to Thailand and got married. Last post i saw looked like he was about 250 and very happy. Ill be following al9ng. Starting my 3rd AT attempt next year.
I saw that he met a Thai girl. Hope it all worked out for him. We never truly know the impact we can have on others lives. I had to mention his on mine.
Follow several thru hikers every year, including Cory, "Second Chance Hiker". After the PCT, he did follow "Little Bee" back to Germany but that did not work out. Kevin Crooks comment below tells the rest of the story.
Kirt Lewis "Richoshay" is close to you. He's attempting a calender year triple crown. I am very concerned about you falling. I'm glad that you have microspikes. Have a Heatsheet emergency blanket like the one that Ice Bear gave you and a survival kit with a couple of candles. I remember Second Chance and his girlfriend. Enjoy the fact that there is no bugs nor snakes when it is this cold. There are ticks on mice in the shelters. Even northern idiots think that 4wd will stop faster(it doesn't). The first inch of snow is often the slipperiest becuase the first flakes melt and form ice on the road. Snow on ice is deadly. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
I did fall getting out of the shuttle yesterday....before I could get over and put my spikes on. Metro got it on video I think. Ice sheet on a dirt road. Gotra have spikes right now.
Beautiful cold views! Keep getting after it!
@Saltyhiker229 i will. Thanks!
I also like the sound of your feet in the snow.
Fun that you can do this with some other people!
I'll try to follow you as much as I can. 😊
Thanks Kaat!
Great to see your back! Great views! Good luck, hike safe and have fun .
🦉
Thank you! Will do!
You are awesome 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I think you and I would go at nearly the same pace Ray. It was good to meet you. You have the voice my friend. Loved talking with you.
Awesome hike man! Those ice flows were amazing! Hope you had a great time, it looked like fun
It was!

thats awesome
That is awesome! More snow is on the way here.
Looked cold but seemed like a great day! Love the views, crunchy snow & those awesome ice formations. 👍👍
Warmer weather is coming this weekend along with more snows.
Yay, happy to see you back on trail.
Yay, thank you!
That's gorgeous country man. Good to see you fellows getting a taste of snow. Gotta love them micro spikes.
Just a taste. Laughable amounts compared to your area. The cold is real though.
@atypicalhiker sometimes a little frozen snow is worse than a lot. I'm proud of you Man and you keep kicking its ass.

7 inches wouldnt be fun at all to walk in. The ice was impressive. Thanks for watching!
Good memories Kevin! Beautiful views. I was hoping you had micro-spikes. Glad you do. Stay warm and enjoy each step.
I had to go and buy them at the local outfitter as mine hadnt arrived in the mail before this trip. They are a necessity for me.
And it usually starts with, "Watch this. Hold my beer." LOL!!
And the 4wd ends up on its roof in the ditch!
Out getting it. Awesome Kevin. In my younger years I would lay in the snow for hours when coyote hunting waiting for a shot. Now I try to stay upright, keep moving and stay warm... LOL Crunch, crunch, crunch...
I dont think I would want to lay in the snow that long Max. Thanks for commenting!
that snow crunching is definetly a beautiful sound 💪💪💪💪
I like it for some reason.

We got our second snowfall in as many weeks here in Atlanta yesterday after not having any snow in at least five years.
Metro will be hiking with Krizakoni soon. He is having to wait on me too much and he and Kriz can keep up with each other.

Two pair of socjs and these shoes have been fine. Walking through deep snow....I might need my other shoes along with gaiters.

Great hike
👍👍
WOW!
Hard-core being out there now. Impressive
Or crazy...take your pick.

I hope things worked out for him in Thailand.
🦋❤️
MICRO-SPIKES 🤣😊
A must!
Back on trail!
Back on trail?
I thought you guys are coming back after this fridge system. Be safe, be ease.
Just trying to get Georgia finished up.

Good to see you back on trail! Do you carry micro spikes under your hiking boots?
Ah just saw it at minute 9!
Yep
Whoa, road walk down! How far is it to the gate?
I think it was 2.5 miles on the road after the hike. You may get to experience it soon.
