    I think Adams been in L.A. to long. Here in the middle of the country I don't seem to have most of these problems. All the bathrooms are open and working at the gas stations, we know the left lane is for passing, I was smoking in a restaurant just the other day, never have a problem parking wherever. Public drinking is the only one we can't do here.

    As a European living in the US, this rant makes me very proud.
    America used to lead the world in everything, and now they are being left behind in almost every way - infrastructure, education, science, healthcare, wealth inequality, human rights.
    Nothing but rules, regulations and lawsuits. Sad. As Drew says, maybe one day they'll be allowed to be treated as adults?

      Most European's don't realize that they live in a police state where the government has a monopoly on force.

    It's real easy to praise Europe all the day long when you're just a guest and not actually having to be full-fledged into the SYSTEM.

    Too busy fighting wars and policing the world... "Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes … known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.… No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare." - James Madison

    This is a Europe rave, not rant.

  • @charlesvan13

    His rant is obviously from the perspective of a visitor, who doesn't have to deal with the bs that comes from living somewhere.
    If he complains that LA is a nany state, he would hate germany.

    Here in El Salvador, I've actually seen people go to the supermarket drunk, crack open beers, and drink them in the store as they are shopping, then they go to the checkout line, and pay for the empty can or bottle, and it's cool. Most of them have enough sense not to DUI. Also, the only parking meters down here are like downtown. I've actually been here for over three years now since I came back after living in the US for 20 years, and I've never seen one.

    See, it has definitely changed. I got my license the first week I was there without any tests. I don't remember paying anything either. The cameras were just starting to pop up when I was leaving, but they weren't too bad.

  • @BrisbaneBruce
    @BrisbaneBruce 12 років тому +1

    were you in the military?...I was there for about 4 years with the air force...I certainly liked driving there better lol...although the speed cameras were getting a little ridiculous as like everywhere else they're a huge moneymaker for the local governments.

    I couldn't agree more. What we have in the U.S. is the illusion of freedom and truth. An adult can't cross the street without worrying about a cop giving him a jaywalking ticket in most cities.

    I was in the Army. The driving was something I liked. More so, it was just the live and let live quality of the people. You leave them alone, they leave you alone. I never had to deal with the government though, so who knows.

  • @FatalChaz33
    @FatalChaz33 13 років тому +2

    Loved the rant...but sadly, you'll get taken to the bank for parking all over Europe. I paid tickets in both France and Germany for parking in "red zones" if you will, and both times I wasn't parked for a full 20 minutes.
    Not sure where Adam parked, but otherwise good points.

  • @YoungBrave2006
    @YoungBrave2006 12 років тому

    BTW, in regards to DUI. I know two guys that have done it, and wrecking a car, and one of them also his face, makes a person reexamine their life pretty quick.

  • @tvlangsam

    So you're suggesting we raise taxes through the roof, Adam? That's how Europe works.

    • @adamatomic41
      @adamatomic41 9 років тому +3

      +TheSnorkeler I'm not sure that any of his suggestions would require raising taxes, other than perhaps the public toilets. It seems like most of it is just a change in attitude.

    I went to pick my brother up at O’hare airport. It’s was cold out so all the homeless were in the airport and every bathroom was closed down because the airport didn’t want the homeless in them taking baths. Everywhere I went in that airport it smelled like urine. This problem will never be solved, it will only get worse everywhere as long as Democrats are in control

    Imagine switching jobs and go w/o health insurance for a few weeks. Now think about getting sick and landing in the ER. How's a $5000 ER bill sound for some IV fluids and 1 hour in a room. That's if your lucky and don't need to be admitted. 1 night in the hospital can can land you a $20,000 medical bill. Then when you finally get over that sticker shock you find a seperate bill for each and every person that even looked at you. Doctor, Lab, Xray,etc. All the sudden $8 doesn't sound so bad.

    I think it only seems the way he's describing it if your only visiting.
    If he thinks LA is bad for parking enforcement and regulation bleeding money out of you, then Amsterdam is worse.
    They don't enforce laws against drinking outside, but minimum bac is .04 rather than .08.

    Even if it's allowed in restaurants, I still don't get how you can enjoy a meal while you're inhaling cigarette smoke all around you. Definitely glad I never picked up that nasty habit. You wanna smoke, go ahead and be respectful enough and go outside. I think if I did, I would still be considerate of those who don't.

    • @marked4death076

      I smoke like a chimney and agree it shouldn't be in restaurants, bars and casinos i think its almost necessary tho haha but i wouldn't smoke next to a family eating a meal thats just rude

    I know, but what can I do about it? the US government is not the government of the people any longer, everything they do the people disagree with.

  • @redmrlove13
    @redmrlove13 11 років тому

    Agreed. We used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Now we have our president defining fatherhood as an act of bravery...I'm paraphrasing here a bit. What he actually said is that it takes courage to be a father. My grandfather would fucking roll over in his grave if he heard that. The idea that parents deserve anything other than appreciation is a new one the selfish Baby Boomers introduced in between divorces.

    I think it's kind of a culture problem. If we suddenly had that much freedom in the US, hordes of people would start abusing it just for the sake of being jerks. Still, have to agree with the Ace man.

    I gather you were stationed here, the economy is a different animal, I grew up here in the 80s and returned in 2000. Its a shithole now and was back then as I remember as a kid. Living on base is one thing, but the economy is another. If you like nanny states, Germany is your ticket! And to add to this Adam rant, the piss factor is high here, and to think of it I was evacuated out of a shopping mall today from an islamic bomb threat,,google rhine ruhr zentrum bomb.
