I went on Oct 2022 and it was light rain. Saw many waterfalls. The winds were freezing but my snow jacket, beanie and gloves kept me warm and dry as I took photos and videos on the top deck. Better to go after heavy rain for maximum waterfalls.
Which cruise did you get? Is there enough parking? Is there a cafe at the ferry terminal? We’re planning to visit south island, and we’ll do self drive to Milford Sound. Any tips will be appreciated.
Southern Discovery. It is relatively cheaper than realNZ. Enough parking at the terminal. You can get some food on board but choice are limited so better bring your own. No cafe i think.
