- Had a conversation with someone not too long ago and he brought up the lack of Godzilla interest in the local scene as opposed to the other tokusatsu franchises. In the middle of that I mistakenly referred to The Big G as a western franchise when clearly it isn't but the audience I cater to most definitely are western giving me that false perception. Takeaway is that the Monsterverse is western but everything else isn't but it left me thinking:

In all seriousness, I personally define Godzilla's (or any kaijū's) nationality label based on what country adapted him, and, in that sense, Godzilla is Japanese-American.
