- Classic Game Room reviews the TOMB RAIDER TRILOGY for Playstation 3 from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics, Buzz Monkey and Eidos. Three massive adventure games on one disc, this collection contains Tomb Raider Legacy, Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld. Both Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary have been remastered for HD video and include Playstation Network trophies and new avatars for use in Playstation Home.

Why do Americans find it so hard to pronounce the name Lara properly? There is no U.
Most people tend to say "Lawra" and I have lo clue why. It's a hard A.
Its just a little unnatural to us. I mean I say it as it is supposed to be said but its because I've trained myself.

I'm an American, and I've always pronounced them differently (i.e. Lara as "Lah-rah" and Laura more like "Low-ra"). But that may be because I'm in the "Upper Midwestern" dialect... robertspage.com/dialects.html

I couldn't take it serious the first time he said "Laura",I mean her name has been called throughout the entire series and some people still call her "Laura "......

I believe all religions have twisted or re-directed their values along with the society that is born along with them...I have nothing against any religion and am not a religious person myself, but I'm pretty sure core values of religion collectively all meant to bring out the good out of people..sadly there are extremists & nutcases in all corners of the planet who see things differently, and that is where the problem lies. To blame a religion and what it stands for would be wrong.

I hate Anniversary. I finished the original TR1 (and TR2), back in the day, but Anniversary stopped me cold...at the f--king T-Rex! Because I could _never_ get the adrenaline-move thing to trigger at the right time (outside of the fight with the bear where it's introduced). I still do speed runs through Legend. Loved Underworld' stages and actions, but not so thrilled with some of the plot elements. Too death-tastic.

Pedro Granja I played all the previous games (from the original TR on up, on the original consoles) just fine, I could play this game just fine if I could get the timing down on that stupid attack and get past it. It's just too finicky. Let's hope you can do half as well when *you* turn 40. Yeah, I could cheat and d/l a save with that fight won, but I have too much integrity for that.

I always hated the original Tomb Raider games... not so much because she was a sex symbol, but in that the games were just bad. But the newer ones are actually pretty decent.
@HardWarUK i care about graphics in that they have to suit the game and get the right mood across. no good having a game set in the city but it looks like its on the moon or something >_>

This is still my favorite Tomb Raider disc ever made.
I heard that graphically Tomb Raider Trilogy on PS3 is better than the original games(Xbox 360, PS3).
Is that true?
IDC what anyone says, TR: Anniversary is not only one of the best remakes of all time, but one of the most underrated and greatest games ever made. A fast 3d platforming game with some of the best puzzles gaming has to offer. The St. Francis' Folly level is an elaborate masterpiece of game design.
TRU is f*cking absymal.
In order of my preference, it goes: TRA, TRL then last and certainly least, TRU

The intro and his voice of IC are great.
my only gripe with this collection - well 2 - are:
1) uneven sound levels - cutscene audio would be louder than in-game audio, like when you're running around shooting free (the other way around sometimes even) - most evident in Legend.
2) Not keeping the original PS2 graphics. Legend went with the next-gen style when she looked much hotter on the PS2 DESIGN wise, not graphical. that and other things in the background. Anniversary graphics lost a lot of shadow, making it look cel-shaded @ times
@plaguuu i've played uncharted 2 (never played the first 1 tho.) and i did not like it as much as other players do. i know both tomb raider and uncharted have similar ways of solving a large scale puzzle. and i dont mind large scale puzzle. any type of puzzle game does not bother me. but what does bother me and make me not like them or only played them once after the credits roll, is the way the story is made. its too obvious. and me i like a good story that is have unique twist or original idea
I bought this game for a person who likes the tomb raider series and found out it was a waste of $50 (40 for the game + tax + s&h) because it's still sitting on my video game case stand and the person I bought it for, never touch it and reather play WoW over this. And I personally don't like the series but since I spend money on someone who did not a-per-she-ate (can't spell every word in the dictionary) it. I might as well earn some trophies. I'm not saying the series is bad just I sont like
I didn't like Underworld much. Legend is my favorite. That being said, I never owned or got into Anniversary. I wish they'd make remakes of 2,3, Chronicles, and Last Revalation. I never played Chronicles. I am a huge TR fan and I haven't played them in a while, and only beat one game. I'd keep getting stuck. They were entertaining as crap to a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grader.
Wow, really? "ruining the english language"? That is just sad. You should really learn how to respect other peoples' cultures a little better. Also, I wouldn't care if you said "Hai, haou argh ya daing" because I don't care how people pronounce things and IT DOESNT MATTER. As long as it's understandable, it doesn't matter how you pronounce it, it still gets the message across.

The PS2 versions of Anniversary and Legend are the same games just withe a little spit and shine on the graphics, no astounding differences. Underworld however I'd recommend PS3, 360 or PC because the PS2 port has been shortened, butchered and Lara controls like she's made of stone.
@theisoganders no your not that only one. Denise Richards looks the most like laura croft I think. You can probably find actresses that look more like Laura than her as well. Angelina was probably just chosen because she was hot, available and looked somewhat like Laura.
@BRS2070, yeah. Originaly, her name was supposed to be Laura Cruise, but Core Design had to change the name, cuz americans can't say Laura. It sounds like Loura. They've changed it to Lara, but the Cruise didn't work, so they've also changed the surname for Croft. And that's when it finally worked out.

You review 7 to 10 games a week, or even more. How do you have enough time to play through games!? No More Heroes 1 and 2 took me 1 week to finish each (and a lot other games usually takes a week for me). But I go to work, I can only play after I arrive home...
Her name was originally going to be Laura Cruz, but Americans can't pronounce Laura and 'Cruz' didn't sound British enough.

@goodflo911 a mate of mine bought uncharted for PS3 a while back, played it for an hour and took it back... however he only played tomb raider very briefly a while back and said "it was faaar better then the latter piece of crap"

anniversary is the 2nd game in the trilogy yet its story has nothing to do with legend and underworld, underworld is a direct sequel to legend so actualy anniversary should be the first game in the trilogy

I remember playing a tomb raider game on the ps1 (not psx, look it up a pox Is a big White console which plays ps1 and ps2 games) and I was about six and I was scared when the dog s chased after me for some reason

I know how to pronounce ALL English words, because English has many accents worldwide. Even in the UK there are numerous dialects & accents. Deal with it.
I love these collections. They are great use of the Blu-ray disc space, but more importantly, they are all together, not scattered everywhere. In this case, it's nice to see a newer collection of TR games bundled together. They had the first 6 released in a bundle too for the PC I believe, but I just couldn't tolerate the tank controls on those ones. It just wasn't neccessary. Yet, I still wanna play them because...I bought them but just need the right mood to get into them.
Sorry for the dumb question. I bought this and started playing legend and couldent figure out if it was ps2 or current gen release. The graphics looked old but the lighting effects looked current gen.

Does the trilogy contain trophies for each individual game (3x the trophies for 1!?) or is the trilogy itself counted as one game?

@goodflo911 The classics games ae much better, than the newer ones and were the roots in the series. The graphics are really old, but looks awesome on PC (TR 1 and 2 with 1600x1200p!!!)
@H3MetalC0rE hmmm...prince of persia is a game-series, but I think tomb rider did come out before the prince entered the world of 3d-graphics... So it's more likly that prince of persia is a tomb rider rip of...but then again the have the old 2d game in their defense...

I rented this from GF because I never finished Anniversary and Underworld. I beat Anniversary, but I GAVE UP ON UNDERWORLD, CAUSE IT'S ANNOYING AND BUGGY.
they sold trilogy for 29 bucks and at the same time they sold underworld (alone) for 48 bucks... comes to show you how good they are on marketing...

Tomb Raider Legend was the best out of all the games. They should remake that game with the newer graphics and it would top all games out there!

I think it is a very nice combo of TR. But for me TR concept looks outdated. Also AngieJolie can not bring the bright times back.

Tomb raider is boss game and Lara is a good character I can think of a lot worse to look at when playing a game
They got her name from a phonebook, and they origionally wanted it to be Laura Cruz, but that didn't work well.
They need to make a crossover game with Lara Croft and Nathan Drake. Lara and Nate would be an awesome couple.

@redhothellers Not quite. Uncharted has better shooting mechanics and parts, and is much more forgiving and less frustrating.
