Hey i have rough translation but its a song about the things you see and hear in amsterdam with a bit of a comedy style to it This is the translation of the original version, same singer same tune only text was changed because time changed a bit. But normaly everyone listens the old version Wherever in the world I went Never i saw such a mess Like in the old Amsterdam Beautifull placed on the IJ (river) They live there free and happy Smoking in polished blikkies (cars) Strange birds with their stickies Smoke clouds from their mouths If they ran on oil reffinery Chewing gum fast with their teeth No parking available anymore And there you stand on the sidewalk Gliding through the dog poop Yes, it's too busy On the street and in the pub Where Bolle Jan raises his beer And the jukebox cheerfully sounds His wife who gets her first contractions In a hall in the 2G (bar) If The baby looks like his father its gonna be a Caesarean From a meter or two Amsterdam holadiee refr .: Big city Big city Big big city You're so pretty Hare Krishna's on the dam pushing papers in your hand about how you can live happy But they dont Looks happy themself Are they not so happy themselves? The herring man is standing on the same spot as usual With a pale face just eat that herring sir With those smells of traffic I'm really not kidding Is it smoked eel? And there is an Arab Eat fries with lots of fun Baked in, that's interesting The oil from his homeland An Englishman is shocking stuck Between the doors of the tram A lady like a magic fairy In a big BMW Wants to drive you off the sidewalk Its probably a prostitute With her husband in the WW (welfare) Amsterdam holadiee refr. Big city Big city Big big city You're so pretty And Thorbecke shakes his head (statue) He sees them come and go Hanging at the full bar They are very thirsty At the barwoman's bare chest The community building is shaking When the guitars scream Because the beat band from the neighborhood Has he rented a room again Uncle Jaap who is down stairs Pulls His accordion in two Aunt Jans in the bistro Eat endive from a chamber pot Where the trams scream around the corner Wich sound like the skinning of cats And you stretch your body Otherwise you will become cold and stiff With all those people on a smalll area Do you sometimes think "I want to go out" Lonely in your bare buttocks Trembling through a jungle No, that is not easy Amsterdam holadiee
Geluid is goed. Misschien kun je nog wat doen aan de timing van en aantal foto´s. Veel zijn goed, maar sommige zijn er niet of op het verkeerde moment. Ik zie bv geen hondenpoep en geen man met een buikje.
Nooit gehoord, erg leuk!
28jr oud, maar nog steeds up to date.
Maar er is en blijft toch maar 1 mokum
Ja, Groningen.

2de versie? ik wist niet dat er meerdere waren :D leuke herinneringen aan dit nummer ;)
Deze is ook mooi
Briljant! A'dam is nu nóg gekker.

Does anyone have a translation of this song into English? It seems I remember listening to it when I was in A'dam in '93.

This is the translation of the original version, same singer same tune only text was changed because time changed a bit. But normaly everyone listens the old version
Wherever in the world I went
Never i saw such a mess
Like in the old Amsterdam
Beautifull placed on the IJ (river)
They live there free and happy
Smoking in polished blikkies (cars)
Strange birds with their stickies
Smoke clouds from their mouths
If they ran on oil reffinery
Chewing gum fast with their teeth
No parking available anymore
And there you stand on the sidewalk
Gliding through the dog poop
Yes, it's too busy
On the street and in the pub
Where Bolle Jan raises his beer
And the jukebox cheerfully sounds
His wife who gets her first contractions
In a hall in the 2G (bar)
If The baby looks like his father
its gonna be a Caesarean
From a meter or two
Amsterdam holadiee
refr .:
Big city
Big city
Big big city
You're so pretty
Hare Krishna's on the dam
pushing papers in your hand
about how you can live happy
But they dont Looks happy themself
Are they not so happy themselves?
The herring man is standing on the same spot as usual
With a pale face
just eat that herring sir
With those smells of traffic
I'm really not kidding
Is it smoked eel?
And there is an Arab
Eat fries with lots of fun
Baked in, that's interesting
The oil from his homeland
An Englishman is shocking stuck
Between the doors of the tram
A lady like a magic fairy
In a big BMW
Wants to drive you off the sidewalk
Its probably a prostitute
With her husband in the WW (welfare)
Amsterdam holadiee
refr.
Big city
Big city
Big big city
You're so pretty
And Thorbecke shakes his head (statue)
He sees them come and go
Hanging at the full bar
They are very thirsty
At the barwoman's bare chest
The community building is shaking
When the guitars scream
Because the beat band from the neighborhood
Has he rented a room again
Uncle Jaap who is down stairs
Pulls His accordion in two
Aunt Jans in the bistro
Eat endive from a chamber pot
Where the trams scream around the corner
Wich sound like the skinning of cats
And you stretch your body
Otherwise you will become cold and stiff
With all those people on a smalll area
Do you sometimes think "I want to go out"
Lonely in your bare buttocks
Trembling through a jungle
No, that is not easy
Amsterdam holadiee
men vader heeft wel aparte maar goei muziek
