I really like the cake but I don't really see a "farm" themed something in it, it looks mostly just beach themed ... I think what you could have done is make a cake looking like a beach and in the sea there would be an eatable jar (like from melting sugar an syrup you can make that see thru hard candy) and inside the eatable jar would be a little farm made of fondant then it would be like a little terrarium floating in the sea

People keep saying that this cake is underwhelming, but you need to keep in mind the couple's budget and understand that some people don't want over-the-top cakes, a lot of people would prefer something more simple like this. Everything varies by the client

@CAMERON BRAVO thats not really the issue. In the older seasons Cake boss was able to manage an extremely lovely cake with many of it being actual cake and a small percent of it being fondant/rice crispies. But it doesnt stop there, they were CREATIVE. Nowadays its MOSTLY fondant and crispy with sub-par cake decoration ideas. The creativity is gone my guy.
After watching how to cake it all I can see are the creases in the fondant and the messy decorating, gotta step up your game cake boss

I think due to budget constraints, Buddy did not go all out. Generally, more detail work = more money. Btw, to me cake looks amazing.

Tony Solis yeah, who are you to call someone lazy for a technique that is asked for on purpose sometimes. Work isn’t always about just doing the most difficult thing or time consuming thing. I make cakes. I don’t prefer a cupcakes without a buttercream rosette piping or something, but sometimes a fondant circle is the way you need to go for design.
They should’ve at least put icing underneath lol fondant is gross honestly

the colours on this one were great though and perhaps for a engagement cake it was correct
Everybody is saying they don't see the farm cuz there isn't a cow or something. I absolutely see a beach inspired rustic shabby chic cake. The only thing I would change is add a little country lace instead of a plain ribbon around the mason jar.
