Seems there's a way bigger issue than a cake going on. The issue is the relationship between the mother and daughter. However, what she did was wrong. All the daughter had to do was have a private discussion withe Buddy before the cake was made so that she got the cake she wanted. To top it all she looks totally miserable on her wedding day. The daughter is so rude to everyone ! If she wanted a desert wedding she could have had one without telling anyone.

As a caker I have to say that there is no way the first cake was real. For him to have lifted it so easily with at least 6 - 7 kg of fondant on it I'm guessing it was a dummy cake and was a set up for the drama. They must also have had a lot of sugar paste flowers in stock as they were not made, dried and painted overnight.
A lot of these shows are scripted and acted for the most part, they do ask ppl if they are on it and pay them extra, better than hire an actual actor. It's similar to what they do in shows lile The Voice where they previously ask participants to do some drama or make up a sad background story if they don't have one. I mever trust these shows, they are pretty disingenuous.

From the title, I actually thought the bride was going to do more to the first cake than she did, like smash it to pieces lol It was a nice looking cake, but not to her taste, and she obviously felt her mother's ideas were being listened to more than her own. Which it seemed like they were and that's really why Buddy had to do the cake over again. What she did with the icing in the kitchen seemed very scripted. I think Buddy should have paid more attention to what the daughter wanted from the beginning and not put in any of the mother's styles "to compliment Mom" when you could see that the daughter wasn't happy with it. I get that the mother was probably paying for it, but I think the daughter would have preferred her mother let her do all the consulting about it and not have the mother's ideas put in about what she thought she would like. I thought Buddy's flippant comments at the end about "the fiancee having his work cut out for him" was really unprofessional. But he and his staff were great for baking her a second cake, even if she wasn't in the mood to look at it while the cameras were rolling. From the title, I actually thought the bride was going to do more to the first cake than she did, like smash it to pieces lol It was a nice looking cake, but not to her taste, and she obviously felt her mother's ideas were being listened to more than her own. Which it seemed like they were and that's really why Buddy had to do the cake over again. What she did with the icing in the kitchen seemed very scripted. I think Buddy should have paid more attention to what the daughter wanted from the beginning and not put in any of the mother's styles "to compliment Mom" when you could see that the daughter wasn't happy with it. I get that the mother was probably paying for it, but I think the daughter would have preferred her mother let her do all the consulting about it and not have the mother's ideas put in about what she thought she would like. I thought Buddy's flippant comments at the end about "the fiancee having his work cut out for him" was really unprofessional. But he and his staff were great for baking her a second cake, even if she wasn't in the mood to look at it while the cameras were rolling. It probably would have been better if the daughter had shown up by herself for the initial consultation, so she could give a better impression of what she wanted, without her mother's input.
This! Like, I can agree that she was an AH, but like… I would be so frustrated too if my wishes for my wedding were ignored and trumped by my mother’s wishes when it’s not her wedding.
But no excuse for her attitude and behaviour. She could of easily said that she wanted more colour politely.

The *bride* had specifically asked for black and funeral like, and was clearly against a white cake. Buddy catered to the mother instead. I'm sorry, but I'm with the bride on this. The second cake was closer to what the bride wanted when she said colour.
Agreed, it was very telling when the bride said "we're having YOUR wedding, the one you never had." The bride comes across as never getting to have what she wants because mum manipulates her so now, as an adult, the bride acts out like a teenager. Kinda feel sorry for her.
i mean when buddy told them the final cake design, he said ivory and drew it. if she had such a big problem with it, she should've told him no right then. The reason she came to check in a day earlier was because she knew she agreed to a white one and wanted to change it but whatever. In any case, her behavior is not acceptable. She's a big girl, can definitely use her words to get what she wants.
