Agreed that oil or grease can totally clog up a drain. It solidifies like lard in the drain further down, catching all of the debris and creating a serious clog. Good job with the plumbing snake to clear the path.
No leftover mounting nuts for the faucet in ur toolbox? No strap wrench to loosen the chrome spout?. Need riser loop on Dishwasher drain hose. Illegal to use full solvent weld p-trap under kitchen sink, even with a clean out. Sorry for being critical, but I'm a 33 year Master Plumber, now a County Plumbing Inspector, and Plumbing Teacher for 13 years. While I agree with scrapping the faucet, you never checked that the shut offs were all the way on, or if the braided steel supply was twisted. Just did my own sink from hell over the last few days. Got my parents a faucet for Christmas because it was leaking around the handle and the hold down nuts broke off and my parents didn't want to replace it so I got them one as a gift. Went to put it in and the supply kinked off and broke (was a shitty corrugated bendy line) had to go to hardware store to buy new ones put them in and found the drain basket strainer leaking tightened it and it broke (brass tailpiece) went back to hardware store and put a stainless steel strainer and finally no leaks.
