No problem. From what I read yes it can work over a cellular network. I found a help article on their website that explains how to set it up in more detail. If you google search "cellular network reolink" it should come up as the first search result.
, great review, Thanks. Say a couple of questions. I'm assuming it if your Wi-Fi craps out or you gets week it will still continue to record to the SD card. Is that true? Secondly concerned about the solar panel. It says weatherproof instead of waterproof. What does that mean it will we pulse light rain but Heavy Rain might work its way into it and ruin it or? Have you tried hosing it down to see if it can take heavy rain? We can hide the cameras under an eve or some other place but a solar panel needs to be out in the sun and that means out in the rain.
1) Yes, that is true. If your Wi-Fi goes out it will still record to the SD card. 2) I have had my solar panel exposed out in the open in the rain without any issues. But to be fair, I live in California so we haven't had too much rain since I've put it up.
Great review, man! Question though, should wifi go down for some reasons, will it still continue to record while disconnected from wifi or if disconnected from the internet?
Yes as long as you have a microSD card inserted in it will still record locally to the card. You just will not be able to access the video footage remotely from your app until your WiFi is back on.
No problem. By default it will only record when motion is detected. It is possible to set it to record 24/7 but you do have to do some extra steps. For one, you must have it running off solar power, not battery, Secondly, you will have to download a software program for your computer from their website but your computer will have to also be on 24/7 for it to maintain the 24/7 recording.
Hi, Thanks for the great video. Does your phone need to be connected to WiFi in order to view live video? I was strongly considering one of the Wyze cameras until I read that with those, your phone needs to be connected to WiFi for live viewing. Kind of defeats the purpose of remote viewing IMO.
Thanks for your response. Are you familiar with linking multiple cameras? They do not all go online at the same time to send reports, only one specific camera (whichever one is "viewing". Can this be fixed? For multiple camera views at the same time?
Hi, thank you for this video. I live in Arizona, my brother is going to set this up in NY for our mother. My question is since it is set up on his phone APP, can I log in and remote view from Arizona? I am the main person monitoring mom remotely... I will NOT be there for set up. gotta know... and thanks again.
Hello. Yes, all your brother has to do is go into his Reolink app and share access with you, through your Reolink account email. You just have to download the Reolink app on your phone and make an account (this is free). Once he shares access with you, you will be able to monitor the camera footage remotely 👍
No problem! Yes, that is correct. The recordings are only stored on the microSD card however since the Reolink is connected to your WiFi network you can view the microSD card's video footage from your phone.
Great review! Thanks for taking the time to do this. I'll probably NOT buy the solar charger as I plan on mounting to the soffit of my roof at a window. Whenever I need to recharge, I'll open the window and have easy access to the cam.
I have a camp up in the mountains of PA, I do have electricity and a land line, but there is no Wi-Fi available, but I would like to have some sort of recording of any activities that may take place when I'm not there. Please tell me how this system would benefit me in the area of recorded information, and how I would view it! Thanks Jack
The camera can accept up to a 64 GB SD card. So even if there is no Wi-Fi connection the camera can still record to the footage locally to the SD card. If you wanted to view the footage without Wi-Fi you would simply have to remove the SD card and insert it into your computer/laptop to view it 👍
Not directly through the app. But it can be done if you use the Reolink software client and have a computer that can stay on 24/7. On Reolink's website if you use the search box and type in "How to Set 24/7 Video Recording on Windows Client" there is an article with that title that walks you through the set up process.
No it does not come with a microSD card, that will have to be purchased separately. I imagine that it would still be able to detect motion through glass, however I have only placed mine outside, so I can't say for sure.
Thanks for the review. How do I view the saved footage and access the Argus 2 when I am not in the local home network. The cloud service is not available in my country.
You're welcome. As far as I understand there are only two ways to view recorded footage. You can either take out the microSD card and manually view the footage or you can view remotely from the Reolink app. However, you must have the Reolink connected to a Wi-Fi network to view remotely from the app. I believe the app is separate from their optional cloud service. So as long as you have a microSD card in the Argus 2 and it is connected to a home Wi-Fi network you can still view the footage remotely from the Reolink app. It will be pulling the video footage from your microSD card 👍
If you have it connected to the solar powered panel it can record non-stop. And yes, with the solar powered panel you could access the live feed anytime 24/7 👍
Is there a limitation for duration of the recordings?? Like it only records 10 seconds after a motion or does it keep recording as long as there is motion? If it only records a particular time you'll end up with tons of short videos which you need to join together with external software
How often does the battery need charging ? And how do i get it out the Camera when its mounted out of reach? I want two cams For the front of my house, do i need two solar panels if i don't use the batteries ?
I personally use the solar panel so I don't have worry about recharging the battery because mine is also out of reach. And yes, for two cams you would need two solar panels.
I have not tested gluing the magnet so I can't say for sure. But the magnet base is pretty strong so it shouldn't need to be glued. Unfortunately, the camera can not be set to only monitor certain hours of the day.
@@ImmersiveTechTV Thanks I figured it out. It's a usb c type so I looked up usb c extension cables and they're all over. So that means THIS will be arriving Tuesday for me. Thanks for the awesome review!
Arthur Gonzales As far as I know the cable connection is a Micro USB not USB Type C. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Note: I do not have the camera nor the solar panel but I am looking to get it.
I have found it very hard to find a cctv camera that has audio recording let alone 2 way audio like the Argus. The quality of the footage is great as well, the only downside is that is only records to a sd card. Is there anyway this camera can be modified to permanently record to an nvr unit? If not what cctv camera would be suitable for me. Hikvison has an impressive range but I have not seen the 2 way audio option on any of their cameras.
can the camera be set to never come on but only when live streaming is required via the app? we dont need to record video but to just view live when required to check the building, im guessing this would keep battery power to optimal using no trigger or record? we live in the uk and sunlight can be a problem in winter etc.......
Yes you can definitely do that. In the app's settings you can disable recording when motion is triggered. And at the same time you can still stream a live view at anytime.
What about cloud storage? Like Arlo or Nest, if someone steals the camera along with the micro sd card, you have no recording.... is there a paid or free cloud option? Thanks
Right now on their website they do have a free beta cloud storage service you can try out that would save the videos in the cloud even if the actual camera was stolen. However, their website doesn't list the price for it as it is in the free beta testing stage right now.
Hi, thank you for the great video! I'm a biologist and I'm looking for cheap cameras I could use on collars on big working dogs. I'm looking for motion-detection, night-vision and SDcard storage - all found in this little cam. However I'm not sure how the camera would work when moving itself... have you tried recording with the camera in your hand? It's impossible to try those machines out without buying one, thus the question:) Thanks!
No problem! Unfortunately I don't think that would work too well on a moving subject. Depending on how far the dogs move from the router your camera might disconnect from the WiFi.
@@ImmersiveTechTV , thanks for the reply! The wifi wouldn't be a problem, without wifi the camera would record on the SDcard. I was thinking about how 15 fps video, how would cope with movement. I don't look for a great film quality, just good enough to identify animals dogs meet at night:)
problem is if someone notices the cam when they are trying to break in and then they take the camera with them, you have no footage. But this seems better than the XT from blink.
Is there a way to keep recording after 30 seconds? My Yi Cameras records the entire time there is motion, so if someone or something triggers the motion it will record until about 30 seconds after the motion has stop. Just wondering if this would be able to do the same. Great in depth video review
So there is no way to keep recording after 30 seconds. But the good thing is it records 30 seconds after the triggering event stops. So for example, if the initial motion that triggered it goes on for a minute it will record a 1 minute and 30 second clip.
i got the argus 2 a few days ago., it seems to only download 30 seconds of video? thats not good anyone figure out how to download the entire clip if its over 30 seconds?
It is not required to record video but it is required if you want to view the footage from your app. Otherwise you will have to take out the microSD card and manually view the recordings in a computer.
