In this video I talk about the problems that silver stacking can have when coming to sell silver. The truth is that silver stacking is not a very practical investment and can somewhat be prohibitive of a quick release of funds when you might need them. Buying and investing in silver is something that a lot of people do not think about how to exit from. Selling your silver bullion is not as easy as you think, especially if you want to get the best price for your silver bullion when you are finished with your silver stacking. To be ready for all eventualities I talk about how you can best prepare yourself for the selling of your silver bullion and how to get the best prices for your silver stack. Ultimately if you want something more liquid and easier to sell in an emergency then Gold Bullion is always going to be better. Silver stacking is always second to Gold Stacking and this is why I will continue to stack gold and use the silver bullion I have to make sure that I can buy more gold in the future.

The only time you have trouble selling anything is when you are asking more than something is worth. If the silver is properly priced or setup as an auction with no reserve and letting the market determine its value then I doubt there would be much of a problem.

As a dealer, 100's and kilos fly out of my cases. In general these are well educated buyers that know exactly what they are doing. I deal with a wholesaler and not just kilos and 100's but 1,000's (Yes 1,000 oz bars) fly out of his warehouse. He has a shipment of 1,000 kilos coming in next week, they are all spoken for! I have watched guys walk in and do ratio trades and walk out with a 1,000 ounce gain, no money exchanged, it's impressive!

Yeah, there are too many clickbait hungry silver pumpers. But they get way more views and earn way more money from their videos. That's the only reason!
Only sell when the spot price is right i.e not right now. If you will need to cash your silver in the next 5 years you have no place buying it in the first place. See stacking as a savings account with harsh penalties for cashing in early. Only stack money you don’t need.

This is intriguing, but I've realized this in my own life and have adjusted my stacking accordingly. The big bars really limit your' buyers. And weight is obviously an issue too. I'm shifting to gold personally. Great points made, thanks for keeping it real!

I Agree with every word you said! I recently moved and really didn't realize how much volume of silver I had until I had to move it. I wish I would have concentrated a little more on gold. I never thought I'd get to the point where Volume/ Value was an issue but here I am.

Good food for thought. I have been heavy on junk silver for a few years now because I reasoned that what I was getting was silver in small weights of a known purity from a recognized mint that also had extra legal protection against counterfeiting. I cashed my big bars into junk, and I don't regret it now that the premium on junk is taking off.

My largest coin is one 10 oz, the rest of my stack is one ounce and a few 2 oz coins.
Large bars are hard to move. Trying to sell an entire stack in one shot would be challenging.
I could unload my stack at a good price in a particular forum, if I wanted to do that.
I stopped buying on Ebay because with fees, and taxes, it's not worth it.
You might be best putting them into a physical specialist auction. Some don't charge the seller commision & all the coin collectors & dealers are fighting over them in the same place. I often attend coin auctions & prices are normally pretty good.

I think it would be much easier in 1oz, 5oz, and 10oz bars. It's VERY difficult to sell £700-£750 blocks of metal during these times.

You are right, putting excessive hashtags or tags in the description is against the TOS but there is no defined threshold as to what is too many. If you look at nearly every channel out there they put similar amounts in their description boxes and I have been doing so for over 6 years without issue. I think its about being smart and not taking the michael.
To me large bars are pointless. You may buy them cheaper by the gram but you also sell them cheaper too.

Thanks, I'm not sure on the conversion, but I'm in his neighborhood. Bars are nice, I do have one 1000oz bar at brokers to flip. I used to like the Maples but the milk spots are terrible! Luckily I focused on Eagles, and 10oz bars, those fly on Ebay, decent margin, and no issue too large. My vendor also publishes 2 prices, one is what they buy for, the other is what they sell for, so package, ship, wait for wire transfer. Or, in the case of 62.5 LBS in their vault, it's just a call. Gold is not bad either, I prefer coins, but have some bars as well. I don't know his site, but there is a guy that calls 7 coin stores to see what they are buying for, some were 9 to 11 over spot on Eagles, others tried to steal it. What's happened is the mint must buy at spot, Sunshine Mines, and the other 3 mines, have figured out people will give them more than spot, leaving fewer 2022 Eagles. Just grabbed 10-10 oz Sunshine bars, premium was $10 over the lowest ones. But people aren't that dumb, they will buy a Sunshine bar over other bars as well. Plus, you are correct, it gets cumbersome at these quantities, so I ordered a roll of AGE quarters too.
I’m guessing this is a UK seller. In the USA this wouldn’t be a problem at all moving that much silver. The larger buyers actually require larger volumes to get better pricing. They don’t want to just buy one tube of coins from you.

Another option to sell your silver is to create your own website, build a low cost WIX website and add a shopping cart, paying for that would be cheaper than ebay fees and then tell everyone on forums that you are selling your stack and come take a look, they pay you direct. Would be a slower way of selling but a safe way of doing it and you take control..
I have always thought a great social media site would be a collectors specific one, something like facebook but it has collector catogories, so you go on, register but your details are anonymous, list all your coins, collectables etc, design the page with images displaying your stack for the world to see but with the added function that anyone can send you an offer for an item in your stack/collection, its not for sale but as they say everythings for sale at the right price, so if you see something you want in someone elses collection you can send them an offer to buy, they say yes or no, no counter offer or bartering and you cant list items for sale with prices, its not a selling site but would make a good social hobby place to visit. Image you wanted to buy a 1oz BYB bar, you type in the search bar and everyone that has one in their stack is shown and then you can send an offer to them 1 by one until someone says yes i will sell for that generous offer or you exhaust all of them and realise nobody would ever sell their BYB bar and your out of luck.... unless they would accept this offer.... everythings for sale at the right price lol.
It'll be a more precarious proposal coming from the buyer's point of view though as you're asking complete strangers to send you money without affording them any security / customer care / refund policy / PayPal etc in return.

1000ozs of silver coins is very very hard to store and the value of silver has dropped.

I hear people online saying coin shops often pay $.50-$2 under spot for large bars like 100oz. Seems like a bummer to pay a premium then get under spot selling. Maybe that's too low of a sell price to let a coin shop buy it from you though, idk, haven't tried it myself yet.

As a newbie, my only real interest is gold, for the same reasons as BB pointed out (among others). STILL, I’m interested in collecting (not stacking) a little silver, so I have my eyes on high grade Morgan and Peace dollars, and a couple other old 90% silver coins to get that fix. Not tubes, just single coins.
That's what I did...ms65 peace dollars, ms 65 Morgan's, they cost a lot but they retain a lot and they sell private cos I'm not shipping out multiple thousands through the post, auction even.

I would say the silver forum is the best place, maybe Instagram if you are safe, but its risky over there.
Buying a table at a coin show when you're ready to sell, if you have a lot of numismatics, might actually be a better way to go than Ebay.
I would disagree - maybe in the USA but in the UK it would be a nightmare of logistics and cost - not to mention you would not sell very much here in the UK.

I agree with what you said. I Think I’m going to stop at 200 ounces of stacking silver. $200 face value of 90%. And the odd pieces I don’t think I can stop. Lol. But I’m not going to stop with gold. I'm fortunate enough to live near several local coin shops here in the States who actively an enthusiastically trade any common forms of gold or silver, bars included. What I have noticed, however, is that 10-oz bars seem to be the sweet spot for both the dealers and for their customers (with regard to liquidity and low premiums). I've found 10-oz, 5-oz, and 1-oz bars to be the most liquid, although most dealers are happy with kilo bars, too. One dealer is also fond of 100-oz bars and trades in them regularly, but those aren't my cup of tea.
And yes, I too have found that eBay is garbage anymore for buying and especially for selling. I'm done with them. The rare time that I buy on eBay is when I'm dealing with a long-established seller (such as one of the big bullion sellers who also have an eBay store).
Seems to me as someone new to this that buying well recognized silver coins is the way to go. Up until you have enough staked to convert to 1oz Gold. Rise and repeat.

Unless you are really good at playing the ratios just save and buy the gold if that is your goal. It will cost you far less. If you are going to play the ratio, bars are your best bet due to the dollar or two below spot per ounce you will most likely get for the large bars is better then the $5-8 dollars per ounce over spot you spent on unrecoverable premiums on 1 oz coins and small bars.
When I started stacking I thought about how to sell .. a coin shop is great if you have the right items ... stack as much differant silver products is best .. a lcs would love 32 differant coins rounds or small bars than a one kilo bar
I try to keep a good relationship with the places I buy from, when going to sell I have only had issues with specialty rounds and such recouping premiums...that being said I've only had to sell a few thousand dollars worth at once so , mileage may vary...

Yeah, feel like we do this once a year or so....... I love silver, it's beautiful and fun to get all those amazing options - and those (relatively) lower prices to Au per coin. But, it's darn near impossible to sell a lot easily - and it quickly gets very heavy and takes up too much room as it adds up. I too once had to get rid of nearly 1000oz. and it was no fun time... Never again. Sure, I keep a reasonable amount of ASE in case TSHTF....... but, otherwise it's Au all the way.......
Been saying that for years , and I've been ignored and insulted , it's big bulky hard to store , sell it's high premium/ tax and the charts don't lie despite what certain UA-camrs who have millions of subscribers own mines or distribution have been trying to falsely claim over the last decade .
I mean, its all about ad revenue, sponsorships and god awful self help guides and books that make these people do what they do. Also, the vast majority are just tinfoil hat wearing lunatics. All agenda driven.
It's good to have a little silver but I agree with the storage issues, plus the fact that you buy it at well over spot, may pay taxes depending on where you live. The price adds up. Then when you go to sell it you get beat up by LCS or have to chance being scammed online. When the price actually gets high enough to clear the premium and taxes, the market is saturated and you have to sell below spot to sell it before spot drops back down. People know $30 is expensive for silver and chances are it would be back below $25 in a matter of days so they stop buying and wait. Silver sucks as an investment period. A little for security against a dollar collapse but these people stacking thousands of ounces really doesn't make sense. Buy gold or land if you want something safe that you can liquidate quickly.
thank god it was only a few bucks but I had someone buy some of the newer US brass dollars on my eBay that I got from work it was $5 FV cost $2 to ship and as soon as it was delivered they requested a refund I fought it for a bit I wanted the coins back then they put up a dispute and eBay just wavered in their favor and I got a negative review now I want a minimum of 1000 reviews on an account before I even ship it, if you don't have it I cancel the order. fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me eBay.

I’m really interested in finding out the difference between US and Europe when it comes to stacking and selling. I plan to move to Europe within the next few years and hope to SLOWLY liquidate my humble collection of one once sovereigns that I own while enjoying retirement.

Maybe, but thats not really as easy here in the UK because of all the accounting and reporting that is required.
I have the gen-2 sigma metalytics machine with the extra bullion wand that can test a 100oz bar..... if stacking big bars, this investment is a must IMO. Kilo bars are hot right now in the USA. Alot of dealers treat them like 10oz bars where 10 years ago they were treated like 100oz bars. If the seller is able to sell the bars at $1.59 an oz over spot like a couple of the big dealers i will buy a few....
I was out of town for a conference and my wife decided to move in with her parents during that time. When she did, I felt so bad she had to move all our silver while pregnant! It wasn’t a lot! But enough to be concerned about a pregnant lady moving it. I decided to change some silver to gold and just concentrate a bit more gold.
Call the local coin shops (LCS) in your area and ask them what their buyback practices are. Do they buyback using a weight threshold? Do they buyback with a sum total threshold? Do they have a specific type of silver they buy (e.g. coins vs. bars)? Knowing this in advance will help you create a liquidity strategy around your stacking. Cheers!

Only recently began stacking silver, and one thing that really surprised me is this....
I can buy 1oz silver Britannica's, Maple's or Krugerrand's for around the same or cheaper than the equivalent weight in bars?
To me this is really odd because;
a) they are much more readily identified as genuine (security features etc.)
b) much more acceptable as they come from government mints, and
c) You can sell single ounces or 10 x 1oz silver much easier than a 10oz bar which is limited to only one set weight?
I'm in the Euro zone but I don't think that should make any difference. Large bars may look "sexier" but unless there's a significant discount compared to the same weight in 1oz coins they can keep them as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, you are right. The coin form silver is better than bars - but you can still pick up some nice bars too.

The premiums of small amounts of precious metals is the price a buyer pays to make the selling process much easier.
In Australia the premiums on 1 oz silver coins is pretty much 50%.

What people fail to mention is the people you buy it from if you buy it from a reputable dealer you get a slip of paper that is its receipt and authentication so if you decide you need to sell it you turn around as long as you keep that receipt just like the grocery store you can sell it back to that company I've been buying from JM bullion for a few years now that's their policy as long as you have that receipt they will buy it back

With a kilo of gold you would almost 100% have to go to a dealer to cash out. No chance that a private seller worth his salt would buy a kilo gold bar from a car boot!

All the silver on this table I have spent on one coin...a silver coin....but I believe that coin is less swappable then all that silver stack...one difference and maybe a show you could do, from silver one ounce to high premium silver coins...same for gold, bullion compared to premium gold historical coins...which is more likely to return profit over time or hold their wealth...Collectibles even high premium can drop like Chippendale furniture or oil paintings but so can bullion...a McLaren f1 which cost an amazing million dollars when released but now $15m is paid for them....then once an e type jag might sell for $25,000 but when the bubble burst it could be got for 1/3 of that...which is best to hold, an historical coin or a safe stacked with hu dress or thousands of rounds?.

I had a 100oz Engelhardt bar for a while and a RC kilo bar...but they were just holders of value, when good profit came along I sold them...big bars are bulk metal in my eyes, my 1803 half dollar is value in a coin, maybe that's the metal detectors in me, who screams when he finds a silver Rosie worth $2 after three weeks of hunting..lol.

Here in US, you can't sell on ebay without losing your @55. They charge sales tax to the buyer, and now we have to pay income taxes on our sales in addition to the fees. Not worth it.

That's why I buy SLV instead of kilo bars. I can sell it all in a second for a 1 cent bid/ask spread.
I’ve never wanted anything in kilo+ size silver. It’s really a niche market. I do buy some 1, 5 and 10 oz bars but it’s only 26% of my silver weight.

For those sizes and the amount of silver the only ones you can sell right away are the big bullion dealers. You will get a price slightly less than spot price but that is what one is agreed to do with that size and amount of silver.
I myself cannot hold that much silver, it is a pain to sell that size and that much.
My direction is to obtain about 100 ounces of silver and anything more it is converted to gold. I plan to hold about 10 ounces of gold. More than that amount of gold I purchase real estate.
That way I have easy ways to sell small amounts of silver or if I need a lump sum I sell some gold and if I need a lot I would sell my properties.
One reason I only purchase gov't issued 1 oz coins and 10 oz bars.
You probably have to sell it in smaller sales
I would take 4 or 5 for about 5 hundred a key but that's my limit now at one time.

Surely there should be a dealer offering at least spot, if not find better dealers.
Ebay is good for some things, when you have a large profit on something and can eat the 20 percent for accesses to the buyers on ebay.
You really don't want to sell large quantities at the same time due to taxes (the present laws) but there are metals dealers that will be happy to take them off your hands; the question is a what cost

Well no, its very much a first world problem!
This is kinda why I'm buying a whole bunch of 1 gram, 10gram and 20 gram bars. Yea they are really expensive. But I figure if you have a 100oz silver bar, your going to have to pay someone to melt it down, cast it and stamp it into a more reasonable currency. That anyone could use in practical ways. I have nothing bigger than a 1 oz bar. I figure if you need to make larger purchases, then use gold.
It's a good idea to establish a seller presence on ebay. I started selling in the hopes of being a full-time seller, which didn't happen. But having a good Seller Rating with hundreds of sells and learning the ins and outs of ebay has been beneficial for offloading all kinds of things here and there. When I sold my father's stack, I got full retail. Just sell somethings that easy, like trading cards or something. Don't worry about making a profit at first, you're just trying to get your Seller Rating to at least 100 at 100%.
I'm starting to look at an eBay store. I'm finding that holding semi numismatics is less than ideal. Selling Libertads, for example, is trickier than buffalos since the big retailers offer only a buck or two over spot price. Local coin shops are a little better, maybe $5 or $6 over spot, but that's far less than the market value of Libertads. The only way to sell them is on eBay or to find a private buyer from elsewhere you can trust.

I have 10oz bars and smaller I have only 1 100oz and 4kilo bars the rest is smaller stuff as well as gold I have only a few 1oz mostly half 0z and under easier to move down the road

Here in the US we don't have a tax on Silver so at least in my state so I look at it a little differently I do like silver coins over bars but if the opportunity arose to get 100 oz bar for a little over spot I would jump on it Wish he lived here in the US cuz I'd offer to buy a couple of bars off of him at $1.50 an ounce over spot

I really like Germania mint and that 100oz would look great next to my 10s and 5s of Germania bars but the gold bars are nice. I only have coins when it comes to gold.

Kilos of silver grain/shot would have been a more logical choice. With a scale, it could be divided into any portion you choose.

I'm in New York, I can sell 95 kilos to a wholesaler in one day for hard cash, from $1 under spot to fifty cent over spot depending on the brand. I would bring 5 or 6 family members if I needed it in one day, if not, I would go to my wholesaler 6 days in a row because I don't want the transaction reported. He has to report it, if the sale is over $10,000. Bottom line is that it would be no problem selling even $100,000 in silver and he would give cash or check, or both if that's how you wanted it. Peace.

here in the US you can sell back to the online bullion dealers and they'll buy as much as you care to sell
Umm when I buy silver bars or get junk silver from the goodwill and thrift stores and yard sells and melt it and make my own bullion rounds and bricks ECT I only expect to get the current value of it at that time per oz, even when I buy some beautiful name brand struck bars and other types of objects made out of silver for bullion I know going into it if I paid 3-8 percone over spot I don't expect to get my money back or make a profit because the price of silver fluctuates and it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Not saying I short my self and lose money but I don't have unreal expectations either. I just love the look of having a bunch of silver bullion in my safe and in chests full of it looks beautiful. I love unique designs like statues and balls and objects and ECT not just bars I have more cool object then I do bars cuse it's unique and fun to show ppl cuse bars are like okn cool bars but different objects friends that see it for first time spend a little more time looking at it all cuse of the shape they are like bullet shapes, statues,cars, baseballs footballs, airplanes, swords and knives and ECT all made of silver just in shape of those objects which makes it more fun then just bars.
£18.66 an Oz, no wonder he's not able to sell it.

wish the US had the same capital gains rules as UK
there are stories about grand parents and great grand parents hiding $20k in their floor boards and their grand children or great grand children finding it 70, 80, 90 years later. adjust $20k for inflation. even a low ball offer isn't a problem. the precious metal holds value far better than cash. but yeah, maybe stick to 10 oz bars so you can liquidate more fractionally.
This guy's primary issue is that he refuses to break up the silver supply. That is an extremely lazy way of selling. Finding one buyer who will buy that much generic bars for their absurd demanding price is delusional. People who stack silver and gold to that extent are financially illiterate. Completely absurd.
The brick story is shocking! Yet another reason to film the unboxing of things being returned to you as a seller. I hope he did.
