Gotta love Momma's enthusiasm 😅 even without putting a lick of salt in that brine. She's gonna serve that turkey with her beautiful smile and her family will praise her 😌 Bless her heart 💕 Love y'all 🫶🏼
Hate to tell ya'll but you forgot the important component of salt. I used to make all those expensive brines before too but after dumping my money down the sink after 24 hrs, I discovered the basic brine is 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of salt. 2 cups of a citric acid like apple juice or orange juice to 1 1/4 gallons of water. You need to heat it on the stove till the salt & sugar dissolves then let it cool before adding the meat. Since you've got a 5 gallon bucket, you may need to triple my recipe, but if you don't add salt, and water, your just having all that acidic juice eat away at your turkey and who know what you will be left with. 🤷♂️
@spazamitaz yep... I've just seen to many murder mysteries where the killer dissolves the victim's body in acid... I am really scared the same will happen to that turkey unless salt and water dilute some of that acid 😱
I never saw anyone use sugar in a brine for poultry. Sugar can be a preservative but as far as I know it doesn't tenderize? most people I know just use water and salt and they don't cook it they just stir it in but cooking it does make sense to make sure it dissolves. Thinking about it, sugar would help the skin brown up and get crispy?
@lennybuttz2162 I have always added equal parts sugar to salt, even back when I used Alton Brown's brine recipe over a decade ago. I bought the Kinder brine seasoning on discount last year, and it had sugar in it as well as salt. It is the combo of salt, sugar, and acid that tenderizes the meat. But I have always rinsed my meats off prior to cooking them, especially turkey, because I need a dry surface to slather on the butter and seasonings before putting it in the oven to get a rich brown crispy skin.
Remember when you had a slop bucket in the kitchen to catch the scraps to feed the hog. I had almost forgotten but thankfully was reminded today! Merry Christmas!!

I'm super curious how this will turn out. Momma sets her mind to something, she barrel's on! Good luck Momma! I really hope it turns out great so y'all can have an especially MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄!
So am I. I've seen people stick a sliced up orange or lemon inside the turkey when they bake it but I wasn't fond of how that tasted. I'm not sure how I feel about a pineapple apple turkey? I'd try it, well a little piece at first.
She didn't put any seasoning in there at all. Watch her last video she used a lot of seasoning in that one and then there's like 50 other videos where she uses all kinds of seasonings.
“A eyeball”! Too funny. I hope this brine makes a difference in the taste of the Turkey because all the ingredients cost a lot of money. Can’t wait to hear about the results. Just love watching these two work together. Merry Christmas.
Brine it with salt and water for hours, then add the juices and other things. Make sure to get the inside rinsed before you do the juices and such in with your turkey. Merry Christmas. I think your recipe will taste great. I put those juices in my ham and it is great. It makes a great base for the glaze. MERRY CHRISTMAS MAMA AND JOSH. Bet the turky wilk be a hit.
I've never brined my turkey and it always came out just fine but yeah, I thought it was just water and salt. I'd would be fine with putting all those flavors with a ham but since the turkey's totally frozen I don't think it's going to have any effect.
