- One of the estates in the city of Uyo, Akwa Ibo state. We took a drive around the estate to see how beautiful the place is and to find out what the cost of either buying or renting is here.

Safe trip back bro
Thank you for doing a great job. Because of you guys, I will be visiting this state soon
Cool. Please let me know when you do visit.
In my stay in Europe, there are many houses that are not painted, and they are beauties to behold.
Nice to learn so
We still need modern estate in Akwa Ibom State. Well done Bigwillz Sir
Yeah I think they do need those.
Akwa Ibom Ayaya❤
🙏🙏🙏
Wow Akwa ibom is fine
It's a beautiful place
This estate seems big sha
🙏
Thank you i used to go to dove international school in osongama
Wao that's nice to know.
@@Bigwillz yea it was 7 years ago, i moved to America but after I graduate an get my degree ill come back to nigeria
@@david9531 I wish you all the best bro. May your dreams come true
Cool bigwillz, Uyo does have some nice houses.
Yeah you still see some houses that look like they were taken from Abuja and dropped here
The estate is massive
Yes it is massive
It's my first time seeing this estate too
My first time being there.
The perfect way to describe this video is Excellent, Compact, Substantial, Straight to the point and Quality rather than Qantity. It's brief and at the same it answered all my questions and probably most people's as well. This is exactly the way to go man.
I like the questions about home rental and purchase costs as well as the open drainages and unpaved roads. In fact, I never knew there're roads yet to be paved. It's nice to know that such places do exists so we don't get a surprise on our first visit to the city.
On the other hand, I'm always baffled at the extent of paved roads in the city. This must be one of the cities in the country with the most paved roads. As for the unpainted houses, I think that has to do with partly funding problem and partly low standard. You'll probably not see such in Central Abuja, except Lagos
Is the city always this quiet? I noticed in most of your videos about Uyo that the city is for the most part devoid of humans. Anyway, thanks for a video well done. I only watch Nigerian videos for now, especially Uyo because most of my life was lived outside Nigeria but I'm back home now. So keep those local videos coming.
Finally, you made mention about assisting with accommodation, I think that's something I'd like to know more about. I'd be interested in seeing interior and exterior of some descent 2 or 3 bedroom apartments for rent in the city if you could assist with that. Uyo is a perfect place to have a secondary or primary home
In appreciation of your service to the Nigerian community, you may let me know how I can show some little love for your service in your reply. Thanks Big "W"
@XY, thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I really appreciate it.

What a lovely estate
Nice
My take on the unpainted houses is that it is for aesthetics. If you look at some of the painted houses, which are a bit older, the paints are wearing off or have black stains on them. The ones not painted will look generally grey and thesame for a long time. That is what i think though.
Good point 👍
The once that wear off had Cheap and low quality paint used on them. In most developed nations painting your house is standardised. In order words, you have no choice but do it. This is why in an earlier comment, I attributed the lack of painting the houses to low standards
Starting from the first to the twentieth minute is EWET HOUSING EXTENSION NOT OSONGAMA . Pls take the correction it's from a resident of the area
Thank you for the information. Noted.
And thank you for watching and commenting.appreciated
Nice
👍
You are right about not painting for security. I was encouraged to leave my house in Jos GRA unpainted to say “Sorry, no cash money here.” It worked the 10 years we lived there. Sadly all our neighbors got robbed. (They did rob our Boys Quarter.) ☝🏾H Bature
Waooo.
First to watch, like and comment, nice job BigWillz, thanks for staying that long and back to back videos of Akwa Ibom State and for even going deeper than others. The only thing I don't like is those long fences that covers the beauty of the houses, but what can I do? That's typical of South south.
Thank you too bro for watching these videos. Appreciated
It's not typical of South South but Nigeria generally. You can Only find low or no fence houses in gated estates with very high security. Or in low income areas. Even Banana Island in Lagos has highly fenced up compounds even with the high security.
@@samthecreator10 true
@@samthecreator10 True tho, cos even here in Abuja there are some long fences in highbrow areas too, but the ones in PortHarcourt no get part two.
Well done sir
Thank you
I think the reason why they don't paint is as a result of the climatic condition of the place, it rains frequently in those areas so the possibility of rain water on d surface of the building defaces the look even after painting, so why the need to paint and after a year or two it's looks bad.. my thoughts anyways
Well, that's another way to look at it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated 🙏
Nice one, but Shelter Afriq is the newest place with more modern houses
I think you are right.
I need a one bedroom apartment in Akwa ibom
Please is urgent
@@EstherEffiong-i5j I'm so sorry I don't have any idea as I'm in Abuja.
I think places such as Osongama are simply districts and not estates as the name would suggest. Shelter afrique would pass for a new GRA in certain state capitals while ewet would pass for an old GRA.
Osongama and some other places around Uyo to me are simply new development areas where the state government creates the layout and constructs the roads and then allows people the freedom of building whatever they desire which can be good or bad aesthetically.
I feel Akwa Ibom State government should pass a law enforcing people to paint the exterior of their houses as well as the perimeter fences to improve the visual appeal of these places. Even in Port Harcourt, there are certain places where people hardly pain the exterior walls and to me it's not pleasing to look at.
Dakkada luxury estate, currently being developed by the state government is fenced and has specified plot sizes. This will be similar to upscale neighbourhoods like maitama in Abuja and Ikoyi in Lagos as the plot sizes are large. Most measure 2,100sqm. But these will only be resided by the super rich as the plots are very expensive. Meaning, the houses will be more impressive than shelter afrique when they are developed.
Good points made.
